get to know tarzan kerchakson :
When he was only just a baby, long before he could start developing any type of memories, his parents went on a trip to the islands outside of Echo Isle. Before making it to their final destination, their boat caught on fire during a storm and they were stranded at sea, eventually landing on a smaller island that they had never even realized was out there. Rather than attempting to find a way back to their home country and society, they built a new home for themselves, ready to live amongst whatever wildlife might inhabit the island for their studies.
Unfortunately they never actually had a chance to do much of anything, being attacked before they ever had a chance to explore any of the island outside of the small shelter they had built for their family. Though they never knew it, their baby boy was saved by a majestic creature. Her name was Kala and she was the wife of the head centaur of her herd. Having recently lost a child of her own, when she found a small little being surrounded by such destruction, she knew she needed to save him.
From that day on, he was her son. Tarzan, she named him and he lived amongst the centaurs. Over the years, he slowly became accepted as one of their own. Or at least, most of the herd accepted him. However, the centaur that was for all in purposes practically a father to him never came around. Kerchak simply thought him to be too different and a danger to the herd, and that never changed.
Certainly not when another human being found them. For centuries, the herd has gone undetected by human kind, thanks to their enhanced abilities and connection to the forest in which they lived. As well as the fact that every other human that had ever stumbled upon them had been killed, with the exception of Tarzan.
When Kerchak insisted that they do the same with this human, Tarzan fought back and insisted that she was not a danger. She was the first human that he had ever seen, the first person to ever look anything even similar to him, and he wanted to know more about her and where she had come from. He convinced Kerchak to let her live, however she was supposed to leave immediately and was ordered to be killed on sight if she returned. All of the herd was ordered to keep moving and remain out of her way.
Going against those orders, Tarzan followed the girl, getting to know her better and learning her name was Jane. Over the next handful of days, the two began to learn from each other - Tarzan about the human world and Jane about his family. When it was time for her to leave, she asked for him to come with her.
At first Tarzan refused, not thinking he could ever leave his mother and the herd. But then Kala showed him the old campground where she had found him and explained that it was with humans where he belonged. It was with his mother’s blessing, as bittersweet as it was, that Tarzan agreed to leave with Jane. With the promise to return one day.
And now he has come to Echo Isle. It’s quite overwhelming and he’s confused every day, but he’s been doing his best to take it all in stride.
Over time with the centaurs and other magical creatures of his former island home, Tarzan has learned many languages and secrets of the magical world. It is not something he really thinks much of, simply just the knowledge of his home - but it will prove to be worth something eventually as he begins to trust those that surround Jane.
