POEM #3

RAW AND VIOLENT RUBY

I want to tear at my chest with talons and teeth

Until my ribcage lay torn open

My hands raw and violent ruby

Glistening

Sinews of gore crawled deep under my nails

Thrashing at my heart to cease its pounding

A cacophony of angels will pour, writhing and red, from my shredded lungs

Low electrical hum in the static under my skin stopped

And I will be numb.

With only the harsh air rattling between exposed bone

To remind me I am here

The rotted rage will leave a chasm in my chest

A shadow where it once festered.

This was the first poem I was ever actually proud of :)
