This blog is run by 3 friends! @sir-lunar @ssskippy @mid-sockit

This blog is all about our story and characters we have been working and obsessing over for a long time now, and we’ve finally decided to share them online! Some rules though, just to keep things pleasant..

Plot

So what’s our story about? Will Baker is a famous baking celebrity with his own show. He often puts on a friendly facade despite his much darker inner workings, which eventually leads him to killing a girl named Clementine… and turning her into Clementine pie. Oh yeah, he’s obsessed with pie btw. He’s a little odd. Meanwhile, Millard is a determined detective put on the case with a keen eye and memory, and seemingly the only one able to look through Will’s facade. This leads to hatred between Will and Millard.

Due to an incident where Will forces Millard out for drinks, they end up staying the night drunk at a hotel sharing a room. Although nothing transpired between them (they simply knocked out), an anonymous person sends photos taken of the two men at the hotel to Will’s studio, threatening to make them public. At a time where it is frowned upon to be intimate before marriage, Will decides he must marry the detective to save his reputation and show. Millard, who is stubbornly determined to arrest Will for murder, accepts the proposal in order to keep a close eye on Will… and perhaps finally get the evidence he needs to arrest the man he hates most.

The two end up moving in together and having to pretend not to hate each other in public. They spend much more time together than they ever wanted to… eventually leading to a pivotal moment that changes the nature of their relationship.

Oh also, Llamile is Millard’s wonderful coworker who ships Will & Millard (we love her ❤️).

Time Period

OK. So. This story is mainly inspired by the 1920s & 1930s, however there are significant aspects changed and parts taken from other time periods (1950s & modern) for our story. There is jazz, speakeasies, but also television has gained footing in popularity, gay marriage is legal (and along with it, the homophobia prevalence is comparable to the modern age), and therapy practices are more updated to the modern age ^^ Also we got rid of the Great Depression and wars during this time period. We do not plan on sending Will and Millard off to war haha.

However, we are definitely no history experts, so please take everything with a grain of salt. We’re mostly just here to have fun and share these characters ❤️

@sir-lunar - Introducing… Evelyn’s character!! Aka Millard’s ex-wife ❤️ (More information/lore below)

She is mature and very emotionally intelligent, but still has a playful whimsical side to her. She is kind and understanding, but still holds herself with self-respect. She truly loved Millard during their marriage.

They met in high school and married soon after graduating. However once Millard became a detective, and with it, a workaholic to cope with his growing CPTSD, their marriage suffered. Evelyn saw Millard less and less as he spent longer hours at the office. They communicated less and eventually it felt like she didn’t have a husband anymore. Even after trying to communicate her concerns to Millard, he struggled to change his workaholic behavior. The emotional pain and loneliness became too much, and they divorced. She still holds fond memories of Millard, and wishes the best for him. But she needed to do what was right for her at the time.

Name: Millard G. Hughes

Age: 36

Obsessed with: Work (aka he’s a workaholic) & Will Baker

Background: Born in the UK before his middle class family moved to the US when he was a baby, Millard had aspired to be a detective from a young age. During high school, he fell for a lady in the same grade named Evelyn, whom he married soon after graduation. After college and working his way to becoming a detective, he soon became a workaholic to cope with his CPTSD from the job, which caused his marriage to suffer. Eventually Evelyn left him, and 5 years after the divorce, he is still not over her.

Serious, a bit blunt, and a little awkward at times, Millard is a detective utterly devoted to his job. After getting his latest case on a missing girl by the name of Clementine Hayes, he comes to suspect that the baking celebrity, Will Baker, is not as friendly as he seems to be after a suspicious episode entitled “Clementine Pie”. Using his uncanny lie detecting skills, he becomes more sure Will is the culprit as he further investigates him. However, no one believes Millard, including his newly hired co-partner detective Llamile Fox, and evidence is hard to gather. After some time, due to an odd set of circumstances, Millard ends up in a fake marriage with the very man he hates most: Will Baker. But at least he’ll be able to keep a closer eye on Will this way… however, it seems that fate has other plans as he spends more and more time with his top suspect. Which eventually leads to an unexpected discovery that changes the nature of their relationship.

Background: With a deceased mother whose death was caused by his father, Will was left to be raised by his horrible aunt. A neglected brash kid who grew up poor and often stole from people in his neighborhood, he left as soon as he gathered enough money to move from his little hometown in Southern Arkansas to the big Hollywood scene in California. Working jobs to support his way through college, after graduation he worked up from commercials to having his own baking show using his acting skills and charismatic charm. With his fame, he changed his name from William Jones to the name everyone now knows him by: Will Baker. Due to a bittersweet childhood memory, he has an odd obsession with pies, which he often makes different kinds of on his show.

From rags to riches, Will is a big shot celebrity with his own baking show. Living his life with a mask, Will is able to manipulate everyone around him, but underneath is a sadistic and narcissistic man. Life seems to be losing more of its color everyday until Will finally snaps, resulting in the victim of a young girl by the name of Clementine Hayes. Hiding the evidence in a pie which he makes on his baking show, no one is able to look past his charisma until… Millard G. Hughes: a detective who is determined to have Will behind bars for his heinous crime. Despite finding Millard to be a pain in his side, Will is unable to help but find interest in the first man who’s been able to see through his act. And although he’s determined not to lose everything he’s worked for, the risk that comes with being caught for his misdeeds is enticing for Will, who’s come to find life generally unfulfilling. In the end, Will finds enjoyment in making Millard's life as miserable as he can. However, after an unexpected series of events, he is forced to enter a fake marriage with Millard to save his show. With Millard living under the same roof, Will is unable to sate his bloodlust, resulting in the pinnacle point of Millard saving Will from his own demise. This forces Will to reconsider his worldview, and eventually confront the changing nature of their relationship…

Background: Born in Louisiana to a rich upperclass family who originally lived in France, Llamile grew up spoiled. After college, she got a secretarial job at a legal agency. However, to fulfill her extroverted needs, she often spent her time in public spaces where she learned the skill of getting information from people. With this skill and her proficiency in multiple languages, Llamile is eventually offered a spy job as an undercover detective. Playing her role as a wealthy elite, she reported information back to the police. However, she grew tired of Louisiana and asked to be relocated to a new area. After some difficulty, Llamile was finally relocated to work in California as a detective.

After relocating to a new state, Llamile is hired to work as a co-partner detective with Millard G. Hughes on his latest case: the disappearance of a girl named Clementine Hayes. Due to Millard’s rather handsome appearance, Llamile originally had an interest in him which quickly died out (he was too much of a workaholic for her liking). However, Millard considers his top suspect to be the celebrity Will Baker, known for his famous baking show. Llamile finds this hard to believe… How could the sweet and charismatic Will Baker ever be a violent criminal? In fact, Will is quite wealthy himself due to his fame, and Llamile finds herself infatuated with their top suspect. Unbeknownst to her, Will uses her infatuation to gather information on Millard and the progress of the case. Meanwhile, Millard is obsessed with investigating Will and insists that Will is an awful person. Despite this, over time, Llamile becomes suspicious of the nature of Millard and Will’s relationship. They seem awfully interested in each other… could they be hiding a romantic relationship? Her suspicions supposedly get confirmed when Will and Millard’s upcoming wedding is suddenly announced?! Little does Llamile know, there is so much more happening behind the curtain than she realizes…
