Dark Phoenix is like, 10 days away and it’s kinda funny how on one hand I’m really excited for it because I’ve been waiting since 2016 for more Cherik content, more Evan as Quicksilver content, blueberry boi, the x-men finally being a team again, looking forward to their banter, laughs, fights, drama…

but on the other I am the exact opposite of that and I’m actually feeling really sad because once this final movie comes out there won’t be any new content anymore, once the hype dies down again, sooner or later there will be fewer and fewer new fanfics with this version of the x-men and once this promo tour ends,…will we ever get to see this cast interact with each other again? James and Michael?  

Because much to my chagrin this is the last movie and I don’t think I’m ready to say goodbye to this cast and the characters. I am well aware mcu will reboot them in a few years but it just…it won’t be the same.

I am extremely excited for Dark Phoenix, but at the same time, I’m really not. Right now I still have Dark Phoenix and some upcoming interviews to look forward to, but after this?????? What do I have to look forward to???

Charles loved him like this. To be honest, there weren’t many sides of Erik that Charles didn’t love, but Erik, bright and playful and free- that Erik will always be Charles’s favourite, his beaming smile and beaming thoughts turning Charles’s world technicolor from the bleak black and white world he’d been living in ever since Erik left, taking his affection and his thoughts with him.

None of that mattered now, though, not when Erik was here, his presence warm in Charles’s mind, his leg warm against Charles’s. (It didn’t matter if he couldn’t feel it, it still set Charles’s heart alight.)

“Erik, you know I always play white,” he sulked, pout threatening to break into a grin at Erik’s over-exaggerated eye roll. “I don’t see why you won’t just-”

“Mein Gott, Charles, just pick a damn hand.” Erik scolded, two fists held out in front of him, eyes soft around the edges, mind gently nudging against Charles, casting a brilliant haze of sunshine over the pair of them.

Dark Phoenix could be an absolute dumpster fire, but that brief scene of Charles and Erik playing chess and smiling fondly at each other might just save the entire film for me.

why everyone should read 'rivers of london'/'the peter grant series' by ben aaronovitch

• it has been described as “harry potter for adults” but only if harry potter had actual, decent diversity • if you like the works of terry pratchett or neil gaiman, you’ll love it • the main character is peter grant, a biracial london police officer who one day accidentally interrogates a ghost and things just kinda go a bit wild from here • the goddesses of the rivers of london are p much all badass black women (these characters also inspired one of my favourite songs) • sahra “muslim ninja” guleed, the woman who joined the police on a dare, is the best thing to ever happen to me • lgbtq+ characters are never used for shock value or tokenised and are treated the same as the cis, straight characters • there’s a muslim trans woman of colour who can fly!!! • it’s told from peter’s pov and he constantly calls white people out on their shit i love him • deals with themes of ethics and immortality • it’s genuinely entertaining and the suspense is great and i love it AND FINALLY • harry potter would have been much better if, on his first day at hogwarts, harry said “fuck me, i can do magic”
