Great Experience!
Zoo Coffee: Local Shanghai Coffee Shop
Friends and I stumbled in after getting drenched in the rain.
Tianmen Mountain
This is the fabled mountain with Heaven’s gate - a large doorway through the mountain.
The mountain was very foggy, but it was an incredible time nonetheless.
Zhangjiajie Part 2!
We explored rivers, hung out with monkeys, and even went for a swim.
Zhangjiajie! Part 1!
I have no words to describe the beauty at Zhangjiajie National Park. It is rich with wonder.
Travel to Zhangjiajie!
On our May Day Adventure, we took a 12 hour hard seat train to our next destination. It was nuts. We met this crazy guy with a grill too! I didn't get too much sleep, but it was worth it for the adventures to come!
Stay posted on the Avatar Mountains!
Guilin Part 2!
We went on a river cruise down the Li River. It was amazing. The views were breathtaking and serene. One picture shows a scene right from their 20 RMB bill. After the river cruise, we had some delicious fish. Within 15 minutes, our fish was killed, cooked, and served. Best fish of my life. Our chef and host was hilarious. We humored her with our broken Chinese.
Another great day in Guilin!
New Adventures on Chinese May Day!
Guilin Part 1!
For our recent holiday, I traveled to Guilin, China with a group of friends. Our first stop was to explore the rice terrace that cover the countryside. The views were absolutely beautiful. The culture was so rich too. We learned a lot about the “Long Hair People” (Loosely translated). We saw them perform a traditional dance and ceremony. But of course, the pinnacle of culture discovery is food, and we explored plenty of that. :)
Trip to Sheshan Cathedral.
Last week, my language partner took me to Sheshan Cathedral. It was on a beautiful mountain overlooking the outskirts of Shanghai. Great time of discovering Catholicism in China and exploring new sights!
Teaching English to Middle School Students
We had the incredible opportunity to spend some time in a middle school and teach American games and talk about America.
We played “Simon Says” and Charades. It was a blast!
The kids were so goofy and had a great time.
The Man in the Park.
While walking around a park, I met this man who was working in the park sweeping and cleaning. From my far-from-fluent Chinese, we talked about his life and the weather. He also told me he was 61 years old. Not too bad for 61! 61 and still performing manual labor in a park? The man had resilience like none other.
