The IMPORTANCE of being prepared.
One thing I have learnt is that nothing good comes out of waiting until the very last minute to do it. I work full time and have various other social and family commitments, at times I would forget to eat during the day and would get to 3:00 o'clock before eating whatever was closest to me. Which would usually be a chocolate bar from the vending machine.Â
I have recently learnt about the importance of being prepared, here are FIVE things I learnt to incorporate in my weekly routine.Â
1) Plan out your meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Many times I have said I’ll cook on the night but I don't predict the late nights home, exhausted and willing to eat anything. Planning your meals will help you find a balance for the week.
2) Do a weekly shop, I have seen both those who do one weekly food shop and those who don't. Again when you have food at home, your not tempted to stop for take away along the way. I stock up on cans of tuna and sardines, they always come in handy with a salad or steamed vegetables. Not to mention are healthy for the wallet.
3) Keep it varied, you know what you are meant to be eating and when. Im hopeless when it comes to dinners, I can't eat the same meal every night for the week. Alternate or buy a staple ingredient that can be used in many ways. For example chicken breast - ( salad, soup or grilled with steamed vegetables).Â
4) Have basic gym equipment at home, either it be a set of dumbbells, exercise mat or kettle bells. Having the possibility of still completing a simple circuit once home can be beneficial and provide a positive change to the gym. There will never be an excuse not to train, even for 30 minutes.
5) Get your self into a routine, you know yourself. Do you train better in the morning or at night. Sketch a plan for yourself and try your hardest to stick to it. They say it takes twenty-one days to get into a habit. It took me a good part of a month to get into a routine, because I was forever making excuses. It took me putting my head down and solely concentrating on my health and fitness to actually get into a routine. In saying this, don't create unrealistic goals either. At first i thought I could train morning, lunch time and night. Realistically I can't do that and therefore that routine failed. It’s important to be true to yourself and what you can achieve.Â
Set Goals. Plan. Work Hard. Succeed.
