"Well, it's either ice cream or I drive you home. I'm not gonna let you walk home by yourself, doesn't matter how strong you are. I'd feel like a jerk." A small hum at that.

Still, the acceptance made Emma smile, and she nodded at the person behind the counter. "And a bowl of butterscotch swirl for me, please." Emma didn't patronize or praise him, though she did note the social awkwardness. As they waited though, Emma's own shoulders relaxed a little.

"...Did you know I accidentally burned a forest down, one time?" Hell of an opener, Em. "...I didn't know how my powers worked yet, and it was a genuine accident, but for the longest time, I never forgave myself for that. I'm a lot more careful with my powers now. A lot more hesitant to use them. But I don't think that one accident makes me a bad person. What do you think, Will?"

Opening right out of the gate with something that she'll turn around on him. She expects him to see it coming, too, but there's no shame if he doesn't. It's a lot--she's a lot.

࣪ ˚  ˖   ⋆ A   smile   at   her   comment;   of   coarse   he   knew   she'd   drive   him.   Maybe   part   of   him   SUBCONSCIOUSLY   framed   it   elsewise   because   he   misses   a   time   where   he   could   walk   home   ALONE.   His   mother   would   never   allow   now,   not   after   what   happened--   and   this   isnt   a   small   town   anymore.   Those   were   the   days.   .   . 

Will   recieved   his   icecream   first.   Thank   goodness;   he   could   start   CHOWING   away   as   they   waited   on   her's.   His   attention   was   thoroughly   on   his   ice-cream,   taking   no   hesitation   to   scoop   a   LARGE   first   bite   .   But   when   she   dropped   that   info    about    her    past,   he   faltered   mid   spoonful.   The   ice-cream   lingers   just   outside   his   mouth   as   he   considered   her   question.   "   Well   .   .   .   No."

Eyes   stayed   glued   to   the   floor   as   he   thought.   "   .   .   .   Would   you    go   back   and   change   that,   if   you   could   ?   "   If   shes   asking   the   HARD   hitting   questions,   then   he   was  going  too as well.

࣪ ˚  ˖   ⋆  Will   shouldn't   of   wandered   in   here.   This   trip   out   of   TOWN,   to   celebrate   his   birthday,   was   for   him   to   get   his   MIND   off   of   things.   Yet   here   he   was,   inspecting   the   BACK   ROOMS   of   the   building.   But   his   need   to   explore   alone   overcame   the   social   NECESSITY   of   this   party.   Ever   since   being   touched   by   the   upside   down,   he   had   an   enate   draw   to   that   of   UNUSUAL.

"   Yea   .   .   .   I'm   real.   "   He   doesn't   step   into   the   room;   Subconsciously   belieiving   it   would   be   RUDE   to   trespass   into   this   robot's   personal   area   without   a   permission.   This   WAS   just   a   robot,   he   thought   to   himself.

"   But   I   asked   you   first.   "

Emma shuts the car door, arms folding...then she grins at him.

"Take your pick. Told you I'm paying, didn't I? Besides, it'll make our conversation a whole heck of a lot easier." She wasn't going to sugar-coat it. He deserved the honest truth. Emma went up to the door and held it open for him to go first, following close behind him.

࣪ ˚  ˖   ⋆  A   nod.   "   Fair   .   .   .   "   At   least   she   was   HONEST,   something   he   appreciated.   To   often   did   people   walk    on   egg   shells   around   him   to   spare   him;   as   if   he   was   made   of   FRAGILE   glass.   "   If   my   options   are   either   ice   cream   or   walking   home   .   .   .   I   guess   I'll   take   icecream.   " 

Will   walks   in   the   shop   and   looks   down   into   the   glass   case,   showcasing   all   the   flavours.   The   flavour   wasn't   nearly   as   importantly   as   the   chocolate   coated   waffle   cone   bowl.   When   the   employee   asked   what   he   wanted,   he   awkwardly   rose   his   shoulders   and   looked   down   as   he   spoke.   Social   ANXIETY   was   a   bitch.   "   The   uh   .   .   .   Vanilla   caramel   swirl--   with   the   waffle   cone   bowl,   please.   Thank   you.   "

Emma knew this wasn't going to be an easy conversation. How to convince this kid to join SDN...? He was a pathokinetic, he could see through the perceptions of other strange alien creatures, one of his friends was already in the program, and...he was terrified of his own powers. Emma could work with that. A healthy dose of caution was never unwarranted.

So, after reading through his records and making sure the poor kid wasn't lactose-intolerant, Emma did what she might do with any kid. She took him to get ice cream. She knew he'd see through it, she knew he'd have questions. But it was alright. She pulled into the parking lot of the ice cream parlor, and got out, waiting for Will to do the same.

"...Alright Will, what do you want? I'm paying."

࣪ ˚  ˖   ⋆  He    KNEW    this    was    a    trap.    While    it    wasn't    uncommon    for    his    mother    to    ask    her    coworkers    to    pick    up    Will    and    Eleven    from    school--    He    could    just    FEEL    the    upcoming    conversation    looming    over    them    ever    since    Eleven    was    dropped    off    at    SDN    for    afterschool    hero    training.    

Will    GROANED   towards    the    ceiling    of    the    car    when    they    pulled    into    the    icecream    store    parking    lot.    “    Come    on.   ”    RelunctantlyM    he    gets    out    of    the    car,    fashioning    his    back    pack    back    on.    “   You're    seriously    trying    to    bribe    me    right    now,    aren't    you   ?   ”    Will    looks    back    at    ice    cream    shop   .   .   .   He    wasn't    exactly    going    to    REFUSE    free    icecream.    

" I can get WHATEVER I want ? "
