After a great sharks win the two of you decided it was only right to stay indoors, order takeaway and watch as many movies as possible before falling asleep.
“What did you want on that babe?” You say to macklin with his phone in your hand ordering from your favourite takeaway place. He wasn’t paying much attention to what you were doing, listening of course, but he’s eyes were too invested on the current movie playing in front of him.
“Just pepperoni’s great” he replies. You add it to the cart along with your order of wings and realise your wallet is sitting in a bowl beside the front door of your shared apartment. Macklin never lets you pay, and you know that, but you’re willing to try time and time again.
Leaving the room and making your way to the hall you hear Macklin’s faint voice in the distance. “Where you going?” You don’t reply.
Turning the corner into the living room he sees your unmistakable pink wallet in your hand as you’re coming back down to sit next to him again.
Instincts kick in for him and the only thing he can think of to do is slap the wallet out of your hand, and he does just that. The sound of skin slapping skin -lightly- disturbs the silence followed with the sound of a wallet hitting the floor.
“Macklin! What was that for?”
Now could he have done this a different way ? Maybe. But Macklin Celebrini has never been known for thinking before doing.
He’s doesn’t reply, but instead leans to the side and takes his wallet out of the back pocket of his jeans.
“Don’t ever try that again”
Dinner dates with Connor was one of your favourite times, it was peaceful, calm and you could catch up on everything that happened while he was away playing hockey.
By the end of the night the two of you were stuffed with the main meals, desserts and wine the two of you had throughout the night.
The waiter puts down the pull onto the table and walks away momentarily. Connor of course picks it up to look at it when it’s suddenly snatched from his hand.
You always want to pay for something when you and Connor are out together, it’s inevitable and he knows it. You always try yet you’ve never won the battle, he always end up distracting you in one way or another and paying without you noticing; his lengths even go to sometimes restraining you while he pays.
This time you had decided on taking away the bill before he can see how much it is, and paying with both the receipt and card in your hand, away from your boyfriend.
“I’ll pay” you say as you start reading the bill, copying his actions. However you only had about 3 seconds to do so before the bill was taken from your hand and back into Connor’s.
“Ha Ha, no you’ll not” he say before placing the ticket down along with his card. “Connor-“
“Just stop trying babe, it’s never happening”
“What are you wanting?” You say to your boyfriend who’s sitting beside you.
Jacks just came home from a long roadie and wants nothing more than to sit with his girl and chill. “Just some wings please baby”
“I think I’ll get the same. Maybe 8 instead of 6 this time” you say, trying to make the bill slightly higher before pulling your planned trick; you were also just hungry.
“Yeah of course, I’ll join u with 8” He replies.
“Right that’s us then” You say as Jack get up from the couch and walks towards both of your wallets which are sitting on the table across the room.
“Can you get my wallet please, I haven’t connected my card to my phone just yet” You ask Jack in a perfectly normal voice as you try and hide the smirk on your face.
That makes Jack stop on his tracks. “What? Your wallet?” He says stern yet confused “Why would you be paying?”
“Well I mean I suggested it. It’ll be my tread for winning against the rangers” You say to Jack trying to justify your reasoning.
Walking up to the table, he takes his own wallet before turning around and throwing it for you to catch.
“Absolutely not. You’ll never be paying. Ever”
After running all the errands the two of you had to complete on your day off, the both of you decided to stop at a drive thru and get some food for a rest.
“What you thinking babe, the usual?” He asks while pulling up to the speaker. “Yes please” you say looking down to rummage through your bag.
Will had never let you pay for anything ever so you’re very aware how this conversations about to go, but you’re willing to give it a try.
“Thank you” Will says to the person speaking to him through the speaker before he drives off slowly and joins the next queue for paying.
“Take my card babe” you say holding your card out to him. “What?” He whips his head round to face you. “No” he laughs
“You paid for everything in target, it’s only fair please.” You say turning your head to the side like you’re pleading to pay.
“No baby, why would I let you pay?” He says back to you. Time is running out for you to convince him to pay for the both of you.
“But I feel bad please. Just this once.” You say continuing to play the act. “Fine, whatever” he says giving up and taking your card from your hand before pulling up to the first window.
“That’ll be $18.75 please” the man standing in the window says, waiting for the card to be handed to him.
“One second” Will replies before putting your card in the drivers door holder, putting it out of reach of you and pulling out his wallet.
“Will what-“ you begin to say, you can’t believe you actually believed he would pay with your card for once. “Nope, not happening” he said pulling out his card and tapping it against the machine before driving off the the second window.
“No trying that again. You can have your card back later”
“Nico I’m going to order food, can I have your phone.” You say as he’s making his way to the bathroom. “Of course, I’ll have my usual” he says taking his phone out of his pocket and leaving the room.
It takes you very little time to add yours and Nico’s order into the basket and checkout. This time using your card to complete the transaction.
Nico has never let you pay for anything, especially food. He loves to treat you in any way he can and that always starts with a good meal however this time you wanted to pay. One, you felt bad that he always does and wanted to switch it up, and two, you wanted to see his reaction to you paying.
Coming out of the bathroom Nico makes a be-line for his wallet which is sitting in the kitchen countertop. As he’s waking back you say to him “Food’ll be here in about 40 minutes babe” without looking up from his phone as you don’t think you could keep a straight face if you did.
He stops in his tracks. “You already payed? Did you use apple wallet or something? I didn’t know I had that” he says speaking his thoughts on how you managed to pay without his wallet moving at all.
“No I just used my card” you say back to him while finally looking up and handing him his phone back.
“How much was it? I’ll transfer you the money” he asks thinking you just did it because it was easier.
“Nope not telling you. It’s on me today” you say turning away from him. Except he does something you didn’t expect. He accepts it.
The food arrives in no time and it’s amazing as always, every inch was devoured by the both of you. “That was amazing” you say humming in joy.
Picking up your phone and checking your notifications that have arrived over the past hour and a half of you not being on your phone you see a notification from PayPal
‘Nico has transferred you $100’
“Nico are you fucking kidding me?” you say in disbelief. He just smiles in response, knowing what you just saw.
“You didn’t tell me how much it was, so I just guessed”
As the two of you bareley get time to yourself between hockey and work, you decided today was the perfect day for a date night.
Sitting in a fancy restaurant, wine glasses sitting on the table, the two of you are chatting away after finishing your meals and asking for the bill.
The waiter places the bill down onto the table before walking away. You’re quicker to the bill this time.
As you place your card down Matt doesn’t react at first, he doesn’t even look up. Instead he pulls out his wallet and takes his card out too.
He picks up your card and tosses it back to you before putting his own down next to the bill, moments before the waiter comes back to retrieve it.
“Matt-“ you say shocked as you just had your card thrown back at you. He doesn’t reply to you but instead thanks the waiter.
“Matt, I wanted to pay” you say looking up at his, shock still appearing through your voice.
