Genie laughed a bit at the boy’s joke.. or at least she thought it was a joke? “Hey a candle could work, you’ve already got the flame on top.” She added, motioning to his hair. “But no I’m very serious, you’ve got an attention grabbing look to you, a stage presence as we theatre nerds like to say.” 

It was ironic that Genie considered Will to have an attention-grabbing look, when his whole life had been plagued with being overlooked and glanced past. “Yeah, I don’t think that’s true. Or if I do grab someone’s attention it’s just for them to call me some kind of ginger-related insult and forget it again. It’s not exactly something encouraging.”

teaganderson:

“Yeah that’s true, cake does come in a multitude of amazing flavors but, how am I going to eat cake all the time? I think I might get sick of the idea of it, and I don’t want to ruin cake.”

“Just because you’re offered free cake doesn’t mean you have to always accept it. You could only accept it every so often and then get the best of both worlds.”

“There’s been evidence that men and women can send and receive subconscious odor signals, like animals do with pheromones…so yes, actually. And because you’re a boy and I’m a girl, we react differently to them.”

“Really? That’s pretty cool. Did you learn that in class or are you just good at having lots of random facts?”

“Uh, I was definitely here first. I respect your attempt–except, I don’t. My cookie.”

“Are you sure you know what being somewhere first means? Because if you think you were here first then you definitely don’t.”

thestanleyclarke:

“You get someone who stays up all night torturing himself mentally over the question of whether or not there’s a dog.”

It took Will a beat to work out what Clarke meant, but once it clicked a laugh left his mouth. “Damn, that’s a good one. I might have to steal that and use it myself some time if that’s cool.”

“…forgot how much this place smells like sweat and hormones.”

“I totally agree with the sweat part, but is smelling the hormones themselves an actual thing?”

“No. Nu-uh. The last giant cookie? Mine.”

“Well I got here first and it doesn’t have your name on it so... I’m going to say that’s not true. I respect the attempt though.”

“Excuse me, darlin’, but you’re in my way and it’s much too early in the day for me to physically have to move you. I’d rather not crack a nail.” 

“But what’s the rush? All I wanted to know was how your summer was.”

eugenia-darling:

Genie raised an eyebrow. “No, not really. Just some minor set ups for this fall’s play.” She eyed him up and down. The boy was tall, bright red hair, he’d really stand out on stage. “Have you ever thought of doing theatre?”  

It would be a lie to say that Will hadn’t thought about doing theatre before, however after only being cast as non-named one-line roles as he grew up, he’d long since given up on the idea. “I don’t know, I’m not sure I’d be any good at it. Are you looking for people to cast as trees or something?” He noticed her glancing up and down at him, and jokingly added with a shrug, “A candle maybe?”

gillmcre:

“Llama whisperer boy just sounds like more of a sidekick, but still, my hero. Now, Alpaca Man. That’s where it’s really at. Hell, we’d make good superheroes. Ginger Kids to the rescue!”

Will couldn’t help but laugh at the ginger kids comment. "That would be pretty cool, I always wanted to be a superhero. Though people might have a hard time accepting we’re the good guys considering the whole ‘gingers don’t have souls’ idea that people love to spread.”

teaganderson:

“Yeah, but the vowels and the ‘e’ really get’s in the way with my name, like there’s that long ‘e’ and then a short ‘a’. I just don’t feel like it works.” Teagan shrugged, the English language was really fucked in her opinion. “Honestly if I got free cake, I probably would get tired of it and that would be tragic.”

“That’s just making it unnecessarily complicated. But hey, it’s your name, your rules I guess.” The idea of getting tired of free cake was worth an eyebrow raise, “There’s so many different types of cake though, it’s not like you’d have to have the same one every time.”

thestanleyclarke:

“What do you get when you cross a dyslexic, an insomniac, and an agnostic?“

Will had been secretly hoping that Clarke would give him a question that he’d know the answer to, but this one genuinely stumped him. After thinking it over a drawing a blank, he sighed, “I give up.”

gillmcre:

“I like to think they were a llama whisperer, out there, protecting innocent white boys from the evil clutches of Doctor Llama.”

“Sounds like a new superhero. Watch out Avengers, the llama whisperer is here to take over your spots. And you get to say you were one of the first to be saved by him, you’ll be a legend.”

teaganderson:

“Tag and Teagan barely sound alike, but that’s just another reason to like the place.”

“Sure it does, it has the whole ‘t’ and ‘g’ thing going for it,” Will responded, sounding out the letters with emphasis, “Maybe you can be their similar named-mascot and get free cake. That’s be pretty cool.”

gillmcre:

“Yeah, Peru was awesome, except for this time when a llama spit in my face… I’m pretty sure it tried to kill me. Some little kid came up and calmed it down, but I was genuinely scared for a minute.”

“Did the little kid own the llama or something? Or were they just literally a llama whisperer out of nowhere?”

“Do you need a pen?” 

“Who comes to the first day of school without a pen? Give me a day or two to lose mine and then your question might actually be worth asking.”

“Uh, yeah, I know. I was just... wandering. Am I interrupting something?” Will asked, glancing around.
