Law's story isn't necessarily trans persay, but the battle for health care and need to protect a kid being denied it certainly speaks to trans (and queer in general) struggles if you ask me 🏳️‍⚧️

And in case anyone was ever curious about why I'm so obsessed with Corazon, this is a big part of it.

actually I’m not done talking about Cora and Law’s last scene together. We enter Law’s backstory already knowing Cora is going to die. By the time we get to Minion Island and the Ope-Ope and the treasure chest, we know this can only end in tragedy. But the fact that Cora pulls that goofy face and then we see young Law, the dying child full of rage and anger and grief who hasn’t had a single reason to be happy in the past three years since the deaths of his family and the genocide of his entire homeland, actually genuinely smile and laugh in that moment is so fucking heartbreaking. The ending to this story has already happened, but Law, of course, is not aware of this. and that makes his brief, bright joy in that moment all the more devastating to the viewer

The Last Curtain Call

For the final day of Corazon Week, I decided to step away from my sketchbook and celebrate in a different way.. Through cosplay.

There were several reasons behind this decision, but above all, I wanted to pay tribute to Corazon beyond illustration. Cosplay has always been another artistic medium for me, and it felt like the most fitting way to bring this collection to its conclusion.

📸 The inspiration for this look comes from the timeless photographs of Marlene Dietrich and the elegance of 1920s fashion. I've always admired the refined tailoring, dramatic silhouettes, and quiet sophistication of that era, and for a long time I had imagined how those aesthetics could be reinterpreted through Rosinante.

Rather than recreating an outfit from the series, I wanted to imagine him as though he had stepped out of a vintage studio portrait from the early twentieth century, elegant, cinematic, and timeless.

😂 I have to admit... it didn't turn out exactly as I had imagined. At one point I looked at the photos and thought, "Why do I look like Lady Gaga?" But that's part of the creative process, isn't it? Sometimes our ideas surprise us, and learning to laugh along the way is part of the journey.

🎂 Today is also my birthday, which makes this final post even more special. Sharing this day with one of my favorite One Piece characters has always meant a great deal to me, and celebrating it by dedicating this tribute to Rosinante feels like the perfect way to close this year's Corazon Week.

🌹 Looking back at these six days, I realize that this challenge became much more than a drawing event. It became an opportunity to revisit the artists who have inspired me, to explore new techniques, to step outside my comfort zone, and above all, to celebrate a character whose kindness continues to resonate with so many of us.

✨ Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who joined me on this journey. Every kind word, every comment, and every bit of support has meant more than I can say.

Until the curtain rises again... thank you, Corazon. ❤️

The Donquixote pirates had a hundred children try to join them over the course of like a year or two??? Rosinante. Rosinante. You are almost certainly right these kids do not know what they are getting into and your brother is definitely a bad influence, but my man please tell me you have been asking questions to the Marine about what the fuck is going on in this section of the North Blue that a hundred fucking presumed-orphans think organized crime is their best bet for a survival career choice. Dude. Why is your brother's violent pirate gang standing in for any level of social services, the entire child labor industry from apprenticeships to the morally dubious, the also dubious Marine youth recruitment program, and the typical low level youth crime opportunities? Doflamingo is just a symptom of a much larger problem here. Where did the 98 rejected children even go???

Imo it's less that those children go to the gang (like Law who's actively seek destruction) but more that the gang coerse them to (like how Trebol and the gang first found Doffy). Basically like how a cult work, tell a starving child there is more food if they join. That tatic also explain the "family" narrative the gang has going on, oh we're not using you, we're helping you as long as you behave :D. I don't think Baby5 or Buffalo or most of the other 98 kids seek out the gang, but 98 of them saw that no promise of anything is worth the violence.

On the topic of Rosi, i'm fully admit i am his biggest worshipper so i'm heavily bias but it is unfair to expect his character, at that point, to have a decent solution to the hundreds of children recuit problem. In fact it is his arc to finally see beyond the world goverment/marine propaganda and his obsession with stopping his brother to see just how much a child suffer under both the law and the outlaw (pun intended) while saving Law. He's in disbelief of the doctor's ignorance, Sengoku said this is the first time he went against order, it's like we're seeing someone whose their whole life never have a normal frame to view the world through, finally see for themselves.

I appreciate that most of Doffy's complicated feelings around Rosinante and Law can be pretty thoroughly encompassed by his pattern of getting wildly pissed off and doing a bunch of impulsive violence, then several minutes later going "ok, I've taken a breath, I'm calm now, maybe I don't have to kill one of the few people I don't want to kill." And then repeat. Unfortunately both Rosi and Law are really good at intentionally triggering the explosive rage, and Doffy is always primed to do maximum damage both physical and psychological at the shortest possible notice, so it's really just a vicious cycle.

On Minion Island he goes from "my brother has betrayed me and I'm going to massacre these fucking pirates about it" to "ok, sit down, frown at the trauma gun, I don't think I want to shoot Rosi" to unloading his pistol into Rosi's chest after getting two decades of simmering sibling anger dropped in his face in like 2 minutes.

And Dressrosa is spinning this like a fucking merry go round 🤣 Law kills Vergo and blackmails him? Die G-5 for being here when Doffy shows up. Chasing Law through Green Bit? Mostly back to errant child attitude. Law very intentionally spitting D lore he could only have learned from Corazon? Fling him through town and fucking shoot him point blank in front of his allies. Then calm down, chain him to a chair, and go back to chatting. Strawhats fuck up Dressrosa and free the toys? Throw all of them out, drop a birdcage, and put a fucking bounty on Law's helpless ass. Wait, no, calm again, maybe he's handicapped Law too much and should at least let him out of the cuffs. Oh hell no Law you are choosing this fucking idiot well HE CAN GET THE CUFFS OFF THEN. Calm again. Law gets him punched in the stomach. Violent again!

And of course when you kill or grievously harm in a fit of explosive rage (that may or may not be related to your childhood trauma) you must have meant to do that so the only real option is to double down forever 🫡 Facts!
