Perhaps time to archive the blog tonight for real, that last post gaining traction regardless of how many ppl agree or disagree with me has made me realize I find no reason to discuss Good Omens or any of the baggage attached to it with anyone who isn't my girlfriend, it's just so exhausting now. I will enjoy it privately and let my feelings for it dissipate naturally instead of making myself mad about shit online. I will still be talking abt other shit on my main blog @deer-trees tho :)

I've only seen one other person say this so far, which bothers me, so I guess there is some value in me also saying it. While you are allowed to have your own opinions about the Good Omens finale, it does bother me that people seem to be getting more upset about the ending, or upset at the people who didn't like the ending, than they did about the news that Neil Gaiman sexually assaulted real women. I have also seen people treat this fictional ending as immutable and as serious as a death, and the real life news of the women Gaiman assaulted was speculated on to no end because people did not want to believe it.

Like idk maybe I'm oversimplifying what I've seen but people having a much stronger reaction to fiction than reality is upsetting and disappointing to me. You can re-write a work of fiction yourself if it means a lot to you and you did not like the ending. You can re-imagine it to be exactly what you always wanted, because it is fiction. You cannot re-write or re-imagine what happened to these women, no matter how much Gaiman wants you to. You are certainly allowed to be upset about the ending, I don't need to tell you that. You're allowed to like it too, but if you let it become so serious to you in either direction that it overshadows what he has actually done, he will try to work his way back into the spotlight once he thinks people have forgotten.

Ok!! One last round of posts before archiving this blog for good. Maybe an unpopular opinion but I did actually enjoy the finale! Solid 4 out of 5 I think. I have two main complaints rn, but otherwise it made me happy :) if you would rather not watch it, full respect to you. If you do watch it, do not watch it through Amazon, check the notes of this post

I have been throwing this idea back and forth since the initial allegations surfaced, but I will probably completely abandon this sideblog one day. As someone who once liked Harry Potter and had to phase it out of my life because J.K Rowling is deeply transphobic, I will be slowly doing the same with Good Omens because I cannot ignore Gaiman's heinous actions and separate them from the art just because Pratchett was also a writer of the book. I will still hold love for all the artists and writers in the Good Omens Fandom, but for my own sanity, this is something I need to step away from. I will probably re-name the blog to wilyserpentofeden-archive or something like that once that happens (my girlfriend is a very sentimental person and loves archives) but if anyone would like the original wilyserpentofeden URL once I am ready to let go of it, please let me know. For those of you who want to follow my main blog, it's @deer-trees , I'm not incredibly active there these days, but I am still around. <3

In light of the continuing allegations against Neil Gaiman I want to be sure people know I believe the women who are coming forward, and I am disappointed in him but somehow not surprised wrt all the other famous men who have done the same. I'm not sure how I'll proceed with this blog in the future, but I have absolutely no interest in defending or financially supporting a sex pest and I want to make sure that is crystal clear. Some additional points that have been bugging me:

Terfs cannot keep tying the allegations to his support of trans rights as some sort of 'gotcha' to frame trans rights or trans people in a negative light, he is a cisgender man who abused his wide influence due to fame, which there are many cases of. The vitriol should be aimed at other cisgender men abusing their wide influence, and those who perpetuate rape culture. Preaching to the choir here because terfs won't listen to me but whatever.

additionally, my fellow trans ppl need to consider that even transphobes can be victims of SA, and allegations against a fully cisgender man who happens to have pro-trans politics doesn't mean any allegation is a transphobic conspiracy, it might just mean someone with bad politics was legitimately assaulted, and that's still bad because literally nobody should be assaulted. (Edit: the story got twisted somewhere along the line and it seems that there was just a TERF involved in reporting the story, and it is not even certain what the politics of the women who were assaulted were, in which case my point still stands, literally nobody should be assaulted and it is not an anti trans conspiracy if someone even vaguely adjacent to TERF-dom experienced assault.)

and finally, other Good Omens fans cannot keep making excuses for him based on technicalities simply to keep their conscience clean or to keep a parasocial relationship in tact because even the most innocent sounding and vaguely legal versions of the story that people are passing around are still markers of incredibly shitty and creepy behavior on his part and he should be held responsible for being shitty and creepy rather than have his fanbase make excuses for a grown ass man. He is in his 60s and he is very famous, he does not need you to defend him for horrible things he has done, and you do not need to parasocially hold on to him. Remember this when he inevitably returns to Tumblr and tries to proceed as normal once he assumes the allegations have been forgotten.

Had a strange dream last night that the final episode of Good Omens season 3 began with an animated segment where the voice of God spoke over a cross section of the Earth and explained something called the Endosphere and Ethosphere, which seemed to just be the Earth's core and the atmosphere respectively. Then we saw Cartoon Angel Crowley, who was flying through space looking very frustrated and muttering something about a missing spaceship, and Cartoon Angel Aziraphale flying somewhere completely different looking incredibly worried and glancing at Earth. The episode was paused there and I was then asked by three people on a Zoom call to give a review of what I thought of my S3 Sneak Peek. Also it was on Netflix for some reason.
