A lot of people seem to think wincest is all about brothers fucking in the back of the Impala or in a motel in the middle of nowhere, or kissing while the stars are shining above them. And while that’s a part of the journey of being a wincest shipper, it’s not a canon part, it’s not a part I want to see on the screen. It’s a fanon part I love to explore. So, what’s wincest about then? It’s about two brothers who were raised on a road. It’s about two people who would stop at nothing to save the other. It’s about the sacrifices they are willing to make in order to save the person they love most in the world, even if that sacrifice is the world itself. It’s about how they can’t live without each other, and how broken they look when the other is gone. It’s about the puppy eyes. It’s about how Dean melts in his brother’s arms. It’s about “I’m begging you, please. Bring him back. Bring him back and take me instead”. It’s about how Sam, possessed by the devil himself, took control of his own body and beat Lucifer because Dean was there, because Dean didn’t give up even though he was hurt and covered in blood, because seeing Dean bombarded Sam with the memories of their life together. It’s about them being soulmates. It’s about “You and Dean? There’s something special, don’t you think?”. It’s about how sometimes they don’t even have to say anything to know how the other one is feeling. It’s about “Sammy”. It’s about how Dean didn’t leave Sam’s bedside for days, didn’t bury him, didn’t burn his body, didn’t want to say goodbye, and how later he didn’t hesitate to sell his soul. It’s about how Sam’s greatest sin was how many times he let Dean down. It’s about how they don’t hug if it’s not the end of the world, except they do. It’s about how they are each other’s anchors. It’s about how they have carved S.W and D.W into important places (Impala, bunker). It’s about how Dean decided not to go into a box, because Sam simply asked him not to. It’s about how they have kept each other human. It’s about how Dean immediately agreed to what Lilith wanted because he was afraid she was going to hurt Sam, how he said “no, no don’t touch him” with softness. It’s also about the fun part “you are bickering like an old married couple”, “trouble in paradise, boys?”, “you’re lying to Sam like he’s your wife, which kind of makes me your mistress”, “what did Sam say? Does he want a divorce?”, “Hey, new guy. Quit flirting with the trainer and keep scooping”, and how people assume they are a gay couple. It’s about the amulet. It’s about how a simple touch says more than a thousand words. It’s about how they prank each other every once in a while. It’s about how they cling onto each other when the world is ending. It’s about how despite everything, they come back to each other again and again, and again. It’s about how they have matching tattoos. It’s about how Dean loves Sam’s princess hair. It’s about how they don’t say “I love you” outright, but instead say “you come back”, “there ain’t no me if there ain’t no you“, “all that matters now, all that’s ever mattered, is that we’re together", “I can’t do this without you”, “I’m proud of us”, “I can’t lose you”, “we’re stronger together than apart”, “I followed you to hell and back”, “bitch”, “jerk”, “don’t you there think there’s anything, past or present, that I would put in front of you”, “and if we die, we will do that together too”, “you always put me first. Tips on Creating Characters

Based on my own personal experience, and I’m definitely not an expert! Do whatever works best for you! :D )

I personally struggle with creating characters that feel real, not just mannequins inserted into a story just because they have to be there. Here are some tips that help me out, at least a little!

1. Draw inspiration from fictional characters that you love already. I’m not saying directly copying, but taking little bits and pieces you especially like can’t hurt! It can actually help you visualize what the character might look/act like, if you have something to base it off of. At least it does for me. Just make sure it’s not too similar, but also try not to stress too much about that. 

2. Try not to use lists too much. I know it can be fun filling out those extremely detailed character sheets with name, age, gender, race, height, etc., but I’ve found that it can actually bog down the creative process a ton. I just end up feeling like I’ve programmed a robot, not created an actual person within my story. These types of sheets can be done later, once you’ve got a firm hold on who your character really is!

3. Think about your character’s family or backstory. Doing so will help you to visualize where your character’s personality is coming from. It will give you an opportunity to explain why a character acts a certain way, and also help you feel a little more connected to them. Don’t get too stressed thinking about your character’s family’s personality though. You’re just focusing on this one for now.

When Sam finds Dean in the abandoned restaurant, he didn’t expect to see Death waiting there too. That much was obvious on his face. The inside of his chest started to burn and he wondered what the hell was going on.

Sam shouldn’t be surprised, seeing as his own mother has done the same; betting his life for something else. But it hurts. It’s cuts deep down in Sam and his head is screaming ‘why why why why why?’

Dean sold him out.

Dean traded Sam’s life for life with the mark.

For the greater good.

Isn’t everything for the greater good?

Sam finally got it through his head that he mattered. That his life mattered. But in a few short words, in a few short minutes, Dean is able to turn his whole perspective around. Just like Dean constantly tells him.

Sam is weak.

Sam is selfish.

Sam only thinks about himself.

Sam should be the one who died, not Charlie, not Mom, not Jess, not anybody.

In a few short words, in a few short minutes, Sam feels just like he did when Jess died, when Dean sold his soul and went to hell, when John died, when Angels chose his brother over him, when he let everyone down, when Dean went to Purgatory and replaced him with Benny. Every single thing he’s done crashes down on him, every person Sam’s let down, especially Dean.

“There ain’t no me if there ain’t no you.”

What a load of bullshit.

Sam didn’t matter.

Sam was just a thing standing in everyone’s way.

Sam needed to die to bring some right to the world.

So Sam kneels in front of his big brother, the man Sam believes can never do wrong. Because all he sees is a good man. Sam looks up at Dean, knowing this is what he deserved. He was releasing Dean of his burden, finally complying with the promise made the night Sam let Lucifer free. Sam smiled at Dean, his hazel eyes filled with tears of understanding and waited.

“Close your eyes,” Dean said, looking down at Sam.

Sam couldn’t. He wanted to see Dean, memorize every last inch of his big brother. 

His hero.

“Sammy, close your eyes,” Dean repeated in that voice. The same voice he used when Sam was little and had nightmares. Dean would wrap himself around his baby brother and soothe his tears, whispering Sammy, close your eyes. I got you. Big brothers’ got you.

Sam gave Dean those pictures, complete faith in his brother drumming through his veins. After everything, after every hit, hateful word, and pain, Sam still loved his big brother more then anything in the entire universe.

“Forgive me,” Dean whispered.

I already have, Sam wanted to say. Instead, Sam closed his eyes waiting for his brother to kill him all for the greater good.

Sam’s head was screaming, ‘I told you I told you I told you I told you!’

But his heart was screaming, ‘I got you, Sammy. Big brother’s got you.’

When Sam and Dean got together, Sam was at the mere age of 15 and head over heels in love with his big brother. Dean had never loved someone the way he loved Sammy. The kid was 17 when Dean found applications for college, blank. He saw the essays Sam was never gonna send. He saw Sam giving away his chance out of the hunter life to be with Dean.

Dean legitimately cried for 20 minutes before sucking it up, filling out the application forms—cause he knew his little brother so fucking well—and printed out the essays. He sent them out to different colleges that night. When Sam came home from school, he discreetly looked for his papers. A resigned looked appeared on his face as he saw they vanished, probably suspecting their father threw them out. Whe they went to bed, Sam’s warm tears landed right on Dean’s heart. Dean kissed Sam’s head, knowing time with his love would end soon.

A month later, a week in a new town, Dean found contact from two of the colleges. He easily picked Stanford’s full ride scholarship for his baby brother, keeping in mind to send rejection letters. It occurred to him that this would probably be the last night he saw Sam. Dean conveniently left the college acceptance letter for his dad to find. The man was boiling with anger when Sam came home.

He sprouted shit at Dean’s little brother, cursing him and telling him to never come back. Sam found a packed back by the door—suspecting it was dad again—and looked to Dean. His eyes begged Dean to give him a reason to stay, he would take anything to just stay put. Instead, Dean forced a stoic look on his face and turned away from Sam, effectively rejecting his baby brother. Dean’s only movement was a hard flinch when the front door slammed shut, cracking the hindges and shattering Dean’s broken heart.

Two years later, Dad’s missing and Dean was on his way to California to find his baby brother. What he finds instead, is a gorgeous young man finding his way through life. When Dean pins Sam down, looking into thoughs beautiful hazel eyes, he knew Sam would go with him. Sam seemed to know that as well. Dean also finds Jessica in his place at Sam’s side. It hurts as much as he suspected but he also sees that Sam will never love Jess like how he loved Dean.

That just made it hurt worse.

When Jessica dies, Dean feels actual remorse. Not for her, but for his aching brother. He wished he could take that pain away. Dean supports Sam through his grieving, being his rock like Dean always was.

Time continues on, the search for their father dragging them both haggard. Dean uses quips whenever possible to remind Sam about him leaving for Stanford when Sam wonders how he’s been. He makes sure Sam knows Dean’s still angry and blames him. Dean acts like he’s the victim. Sam looks at Dean with hurt hazel-blue eyes—the color they turn when he’s sad—and looks out the window or back into his laptop, silently shutting Dean out.

Dean ignores the pain in his heart because it’s easier to blame Sam. It’s easier then blaming himself for giving up the one thing in life that ever truly made him happy and that he might never get it back.

As boyking (as king of everything) Sam can give his family everything they need. This new life he’s made for them, it’s tailored for each individual.

Dean, more than anything, needs praise, appreciation, for all that he does. It’s something that John Winchester never managed. “Good job, De,” he tells his brother when Dean comes back to him covered in blood, “thank you.” Dean gets rewards as well as punishments here; he has a little room of his own when he wants to feel a little independent(connected directly to Sam’s room of course).

Cas is similar to Dean in so far as his needs. More than anything, their angel craves reciprocation- loyalty for his loyalty, devotion for devotion. It’s why Sam knew he’d find so much satisfaction in being his pet angel. “You’re our angel,” they remind him often. “We’re never letting you go,” Sam coos, and watches him sag with relief. It’s more than heaven ever did for Cas (they’ll pay for that later, of course). When he sleeps, he does it in one of their beds or in the special box bed in Sam’s room that looks like a giant cabinet (his angel can be comfortable and warm and cozy there without any need of interaction with them or independence. It’s the perfect place for him to rest)

Jack has a room of his own, and is the most self- sufficient. He’s taken to princehood like a duck to water, and gets all the affection he needs from them before he goes off to burn the world at Sam’s command. He gets validation, most importantly, “You’re a good boy, Jack.”

His court is well cared for. It’s the rest of everything that need fear him, after all.

Ack I am so sorry I missed this. This is brilliant 😍. It is everything I could want for boy king Sam. He would care for those he loves and anyone who harmed them would know his wrath.
