Chateau Gassier 946 Rosé 2014 "Le Croix de Provence" is located 946 meters above sea level, at the highest point of Saint-Victoire, where it's located Chateau Gassier. It's there that this wine, the 946 rosé is made, using precise methods of winemaking and a subtle and delicate blend. Composed mostly of the Syrah and Rolle varieties, they are harvested using a plot selection approach, resulting in a harmonious combination of exotic and floral notes. The Grenache variety adds to this blend a feeling of volume in the mouth and elegance, although this profile has evolved over time. The 946 rosé consists of a careful selection of several batches that were vinified separately. A part of the grapes is harvested, vinified and aged according to the traditional methods of the region, with strict temperature control, using cold temperatures, to preserve the aromas and freshness of the wine. The remaining part is vinified and aged for several months in Austrian oak barrels. Knowing its evolutionary power, we kept a bottle for 4 years and decided to open it to check what so much is said about this wine. You can really feel the floral notes along with the oak notes, where the notes stand out, some herbaceous, jasmine, cedar but also some gunpowder, possibly due to the toast of the barrel. In the mouth, note the volume of Grenache, the exotic fruit very present, easily feeling the Rolle variety, along with some red fruit and also some dry fruit, derived from the Syrah variety. We were impressed with the profile of this rosé 946 from the 2014 harvest. We are talking about the Côtes de Provence region, specializing in rosé wines and where quality, terroir, grape varieties and the way to produce this type of wine, remains unique. Anyone who hasn't tried it yet, look for a bottle. If you don't know where to find it, contact us.
