when you and your buddy are funny wrestling in the forest and the hunting god catches you
One of my favorite tropes is post apocalyptic towns being named after dilapidated signs with missing letters, like Novac (no vacancy) and Eaden (dead end). There’s something inexplicable about it

Well, do I have the gimmick for you!
POST CANCELED.
Seeing how different the characters look from the last time we saw them, we can assume that they've been in the Human Realm for at least a few months now.
Camila Noceda really has been supporting six traumatized teenagers and their magic pets with a single income for months lmao this poor woman no wonder her hair seems to be greying in the poster.
Today's advice from your Goth Auntie
My darlings, stop slouching. Hydrate & take your meds, too.
It’s normal to doubt yourself, but please don’t think you’re worthless.
The Lurking Horror tried camping out in the yard overnight, but didn’t like the noises.

the problem with the spoon theory + chronic pain is that, like, i can wake up with 100 spoons! yeah, time to work! and then the pain hits and i’m down to 0 immediately. none, nada. oh, all that stuff i was supposed to do today? yeah, i’m just gonna lie down instead. and then the next day, maybe i’m still tired, and maybe i have a few spoons but it’s like…should i use those spoons to accomplish things? or is the pain gonna hit again and i’ll need to save them? and then maybe the next day i have no pain whatsoever, but i don’t want to spend that day being productive, i wanna rest and have fun because i’m finally not in pain! basically chronic pain is garbage and i’d like to return this body for a new one, thanks

here's your regular reminder that if you consistently, regularly get headaches, you are almost certainly having migraines, not regular headaches.
MOST recurrent headaches are migraine headaches.
"migraine" does not mean "extremely painful headache." it is a type and source of pain, not a degree of pain. migraines can also include some or all of the following: fatigue, sensitivity to light and sound, visual auras, nausea or vomiting, dizziness, cognitive impairment, etc. these symptoms can be mild or severe and it may actually be difficult to determine if you have them. (who wants a bright light in their eyes during a headache?? i thought that's just how headaches were lmao.)
this is important because while aspirin, NSAIDs like ibuprofren, and other over-the-counter pain meds can effectively alleviate migraine pain, getting diagnosed with migraines allows for a wider range of treatments and preventatives.
it's also important because, in my opinion, your average general practice doctor is not equipped to diagnose you with chronic migraine. don't go to one expecting them to. a neurologist with migraine specialty is a better option, although a regular doctor can still be useful if they listen to you lol.
my life would be miserable and unmanageable without sumatriptan. and i never would have gotten a prescription for sumatriptan if i hadn't gone to my GP and said, "i have migraines and want to try migraine medicine," even though at the time i wasn't 100% sure that was true.
if you have chronic headaches, they're almost certainly migraines. if no one has said that to you before, let me be the first. start treating your migraines.
multiple times in my youth, i went to the doctor expecting them to figure out and tell me if i had migraines. each time, the doctor asked, "do you see an aura?" and when i said no, they determined i must not be getting migraines. no one ever told me that only 20% of migraine sufferers experience auras. that means 80% don't, yet that is frequently used as important diagnostic criteria! what!
a book i recommend over and over is The Keeler Migraine Method by robert cowan. highly recommend if you're trying to figure your migraine situation out.
some people in the notes are wondering if they get migraines so i wanna briefly sum up my experience:
starting around age 12/13, i started getting headaches near-daily. sometimes they hurt really bad and were debilitating, but mostly they were kind of just....the background noise of my life. when you have a constant headache, you kinda adapt.
ibuprofen and tylenol never helped. caffeine and excedrin migraine helped maybe 10-15% of the time. so i took it every single day because that 15% relief was worth it. (until i was hospitalized with a stomach ulcer when i was 19. please don't take aspirin, NSAIDs or tylenol every single day!)
the pain feels like it's all over my head, with slight pressure, like a tight swim cap of pain. some migraines start or are concentrated in one spot, but that's not my experience.
SOME of my migraines make me nauseous, but only if they get really bad and last a long time. i think only one or two migraines in my life have made me vomit. with my current rescue medication, I've gotten a nausea-inducing migraine maybe three or four times in the past 10 years. before that, it was slightly more common, but certainly not every day. again, migraines were mostly background noise: slightly to moderately painful, but i had to keep going to school and working and living my life, you know?
other than that, sometimes i get brain foggy before/during/after a migraine, and sometimes i'm sensitive to light and sound. i don't get every symptom every time with every migraine. mostly, a migraine for me these days is a low-grade amount of pain for about 30-60 minutes until sumatriptan kicks in. there are always neurological things going on with migraines but sometimes they're subtle. and if you experience migraines a lot they can be difficult to notice tbh.
the main trigger of migraines for me and many others is inconsistency. a change of routine. i tend to need to sleep the same amount, eat at the same times, regularly hydrate, consume the same amount of caffeine daily, and not radically change these habits to avoid migraines. other triggers i have: certain kinds of alcohol/too much alcohol, certain scents, and stress. dehydration and hunger are my main triggers.
anyway. hopefully this is helpful info!
when i was a teenager it felt very revolutionary to be cruel to myself. like some kind of slow passive protest against how much everything hurt. i starved myself of sleep and food and tenderness because it felt right. it felt sharp and angry and radical and i wanted to be those things. adulthood is the realisation that the world is already working to cut into you well before you learn how to do it yourself. caring for yourself and others is the real protest

i need tumblr dot commies to understand that while yes, many wheelchair users are ambulatory, i.e. can walk a few steps on good days, a location or event being "wheelchair accessible" means that it is accessible to wheelchair users who cannot walk, not even one step, not even on their best day, not even to save their lives

how to train your dragon can be classified as a horse girl movie. misunderstood child is a misfit and is disliked by peers, doesn’t do well in school. child finds solace in company of a four legged animal which child then trains secretly in a secluded environment. there’s an edgy love interest and comic relief friends. parent disapproves of this animal due to past experiences, but animal/child prove themselves to family and receive affection/heartfelt confession.
