Generally speaking, I think one of my biggest gripes with tadc is that the cast don’t feel like a friend group. Like there’s really only jax + pomni and zooble + gangle that I would be able to consider them as friends and Ragatha and pomni’s relationship feels way too empty, We don’t get anytime to see them bond together or heck the conversation they apparently had at the end of ep 6 that made them all buddy buddy again so I don’t really count them as friends no matter how much the narrative wants me to believe so. Everyone just kinda exists in a shared space but they rarely interact with each other beyond the ‘average acquaintance’ stage.
Take a show like avatar the last air bender for example, everyone in the main cast has an relationship with each other, every character has a dynamic with another that gets explored. Name any two characters in the main five and I could tell you what they’re relationship is, what they think of the other and show you multiple scenes of them interacting. and yes I know atla has wayyy more episodes than tadc but my point still stands that the tadc cast just doesn’t have any connection with each other.
Even with Zuko and Toph for exemple, which I would say is the dynamic the least shown compared to everyone else still get to talk one on one during the ember island players, what does zooble and pomni get? Gangle and kinger ? Ragatha and zooble ? Zooble and zooble ?
I just wish these dynamics got more explored rather than pushed aside for another jAx Is sAD scene
