At least the pose is fun (even though it makes no sense). Also, looking at it now, I’m realizing that the way I shaded the boob window makes it look like a white undershirt or something…sorry for the accidental censorship😔

My drawings suffer so bad from lack of clarity and I genuinely don’t know how to fix it someone help I’ve been stuck in the same place for like four years

Geminitay but make her anime style… please ignore the fact that the hands make no sense because I could not for the life of me find a reference with the right hand pose AND similar angle so I was making do with a ref from a lower eye level.

Also can someone please tell me how to simplify curly hair because I was on the struggle bus with this one.

I understand this is a significant departure from my (irregularly scheduled) MCYT stuff BUT PLEASE I NEED SOME HELP.

A little while ago (on Twitter, I’m pretty sure) I saw this trend where artists would draw two character profiles together to show how they fit together like puzzle pieces. It looked something like the drawing below.

Recently I had the urge to draw some OC’s of mine in this pose, but being unsure of the exact formatting of the trend, I went to look it up. Unfortunately, that is when I realized that I couldn’t remember for the life of me what it was called or which of the artists I followed participated.

In case it's helpful: one version I can recall involved Carmy and Sydney from the Bear.

If anyone can help me out with this it would be much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏

I cannot escape the Desert duo propaganda… This is supposed to be Third Life, but I have no idea when lol I mainly drew this to practice digital painting and it slowly began morphing into Scar and Grian.

Dipping my toes into using very saturated colors AND I THINK IT WORKED. FINALLY. AHHFHGH I FINALLY like the results. Shoutout to @applestruda and their process for giving the idea of using the stickman Procreate brush for more color variation.

I’ve also discovered that I’m a big fan of square brushes. I just like the way it looks.

Another color study! This time with Etho. Instead of manually trying to find colors on the color wheel like I did with the Gem piece, I tried putting down the local color first and adding a layer on top to unify it all. All the saturation got squished, but mayyyybeee I’m getting somewhere?? IM SO CLOSE TO CRACKING THIS WHOLE COLOR THINGY I SWEAR.

uhm lighting practice with Gem I guess. What is she doing? Who knows. At the beach or something. It’s embarrassing how much every time I go to practice some new art thing it almost always turns into an MCYT someone save me the fandom you fall into during the pandemic truly doesn’t leave you-

My cycle of digital painting (and real life painting) is: find cool new tutorial (shoutout to Marco Bucci for this one). Get super excited about color. Try it myself. Fall flat on my face. ??? All jokes aside, I think I’m getting better! Maybe? To me, this looks better. Backgrounds are a work in progress.

Side note: just realized that I’ve drawn something for every Wild Life episode EXCEPT the most important one where Joel won… he’s my favorite too, guys, I was freaking out when he won, so much that I told myself that I would make an animatic and then…didn’t….yeah. I should stick to fan art for now, probably.

Tango’s power is so incredibly funny to me and he ABSOLUTELY runs like Sonic. His feet do the little arc and everything. He makes a comically loud zoom noise whenever he runs. He’s fleeing! Look at him go!

(I was also getting major Limited Life flashbacks with the way everyone was targeting him lol he’s managed to anger the entire server)

So…that conversation Gem and Pearl had at the start of episode 6, huh…is anybody else feeling 100% normal about them.

Because, like, Pearl is all “everything we make gets destroyed that’s how it works” or something and Gem is like, “IDK, I just got here”

Gem doesn’t really get it yet I think. She got a taste of the emotional gut punch in Secret Life but Pearl has already gone through it four times. She knows how quick everything changes and stuff…

ALSO I find it interesting how Gem references “the game”. It’s just a game huh…but the emotional wounds are very real…even if the world isn’t technically… anyways excited to see where this goes next episode.

I don’t have media literacy so I cannot put my thoughts into words but I hope I’ve conveyed my feelings at least.

About the art…well. I experimented. It didn’t. Really. Work. Back to the drawing board. (But literally)

this pose is one hundred percent original and if you’ve seen five other pieces with a similar composition with similar vibes no you haven’t (gaslighting)

I’m sweating after how fast I worked to get this done before episode 7. Someone save me my head is spinning (it’s probably the sleep deprivation)

FULL WILD LIFE SMP LINEUP! (Tallest to shortest) It’s doneeee this is the first time I’ve really tried character design (in case it isn’t obvious). I have a long ways to go but I’m proud that I stuck with it until the end.

Canon event of the life series: Scar killing Etho

(based off session 4 of Wild Life SMP)

Scar has had it out for him ever since Limited Life…

I pretty much stole the colour palette from @marblegroves and their Scar fanart because I suck at making good colours. I have no idea how to make things moody and also visible at the same time. It’s a conundrum.

FAMILY! (Insert wild applause. Several people faint in the front seats. Many more are sobbing uncontrollably)

They are finally here! They make me very happy I will never recover if this alliance implodes. (Manifesting Gem or Joel win so hard rn)

After Gem got burned alive, Joel insisted on matching outfits for their theme, probably.

By the way, it’s really hard to come up with simplified designs for burn scars? Like, I’m just sticking little marks everywhere but from a character design perspective that is a nightmare to reproduce numerous times… any ideas of a simpler way to go about it?

Design detail ramblings below:

ALSO Joel’s burn scars were there since Double Life so at this point there’s barely any pain (just small things like tightness around joints. His eyes also can’t close completely). However, Gem, who was very recently dunked in lava, is definitely feeling the effects worse than him. She can’t smile that wide without her skin splitting, same goes for tightening her fists and such. Her eyes are a little squintier now because it hurts to hold them open. She is in constant pain but is powering through it like a champ.

Random note, I think it’s a cool idea that axes begin to look more battleaxe-esque the higher level of sharpness you put on them. For example, Joel is holding an unenchanted diamond axe, which is a pretty standard wood-cutting axe. (Shape-wise, not the diamond part)

I’ve actually seen multiple people do the tank top design idea for these two but I will credit @xmaruu11 because they were my main inspiration. Go check out their Family designs too. They’re so cute…🥹🥹

WAIT I JUST REALIZED SOMETHING Joel, Gem and Etho all have full-body burn scars now!

Finally! Tuff Guys designs! They’re done! (Really wanted to get this out after session 3 before Tango was perma-dead, but luckily he is still here with us)

Obligatory ramble under the cut warning:

Bdubs looks very wonky but maybe that fits his character. If you squint you could say it was done on purpose. His pupils are permanently dilated. I don’t really know why I have this headcanon, but like…it feels wrong to have him just be a normal guy, you know? He’s like…weird-ish. Maybe not as obviously weird as Tango, but… remember his brief stint as a god during the Empires crossover? Yeah, I do. I just need to make SOME part of him vaguely inhuman. I feel like it fits with his big eyes, too. A combination of mascara and dilated pupils (I did not mean to make it look like he was on drugs but I guess that checks out too)

Now that I’m looking at Etho (eight heads tall) next to other characters (mostly seven heads tall) I realize that his small head makes him look very strange. HOWEVER I am probably just projecting as someone who is eight heads tall and always looks weird in photos (esp selfies) because despite being the closest to the camera I look like I’m further away at the same time. Also, despite Etho being blown up by a creeper his clothes have actually fared well and maybe that is favoritism. (Who, me? Favoritism?? Never) I couldn’t get rid of his mask, though. Come on.

Etho and Tango are both very much party in the back right now. They both got exploded from behind so the backs of their clothing are pretty much demolished. What you see visible of Etho’s original jacket, for example, is basically the only thing left. Just the right half and sleeve. Tango’s in the same boat but he got creative and decided to move the front of his vest thing (the only part which survived) around to cover his back which was very uncovered. His outfit is held together with hopes and dreams and probably some duct tape.

Tango’s pose was an absolute nightmare to draw, btw. I like how it turned out tho. (I actually REALLY like all the little design details in his hair…mostly the funny little tufts on his cheeks. Kinda like sideburns? I guess?)

Wild Life BigB! He’s honestly been doing really good so far. His snail death was kinda unavoidable? The way he could HEAR THE SNAIL DIGGING TO HIM underground was the scariest thing ever. And that’s coming from someone who watched Gem’s POV first and was completely desensitized to the snails. It still totally got me.

(A BigB win would be so awesome though because he almost never gets any attention in fan-works and winning is kinda the automatic key for lots of cool animatics)

I was debating whether or not to put him alongside the Final Girls (Four G’s/ Five G’s??) I ultimately decided not? But he’s also a bit of an honorary member. (Cleo being the one who invited him…HURGH it. Gets me. They are friends ☺️)

CAN WE GET A SHOUTOUT FOR THE COOLEST LOOKING SKIN EVER IN THE LIFE SERIES THOUGH THANK YOU ROSE (couldn’t find their Tumblr acc)

His design is loosely inspired by @krashlite (the mossy bits on his hair and stuff)

Final Girls designs! (post-session 3)

Rambling under the cut:

Poor Pearl is not looking so good 😭 the improvised leather shorts have done a number to her swag I’m afraid. At least she was in water when the creeper exploded so her jacket is fine (me trying to justify it when the real reason is that her jacket is her signature thing and removing it feels very wrong)

Scott and Cleo are doing really well though! The fact that they didn’t die once to the snails is super impressive (just like my GOATs Gem and Joel)

And uh, about Cleo’s color scheme, my answer is: idk I guess they were feeling particularly Halloween-y…or something. (Its actually because I didn’t want to add too many new colors to their team color palette. I love Cleo’s skin but why. Does it have. So many colors. But now I feel bad because I made their outfit so much uglier. I am sensing a theme amongst my life series designs)

Impulse is on light green but that’s partly because Gem’s one hundred percent committed to making him everyone’s number one hit. I love how Impulse didn’t even betray her last season, Pearl did. At first, Gem definitely was telling people to go after both Pearl and Impulse, but by now for some reason Gem’s stopped bringing Pearl up altogether and is just telling everyone to kill Impulse…is this a sign shinyduo breakup is over (<——-delusional)

I feel bad for Impulse though. Why does the universe have it out for him every season. (Very unfunny joke incoming) I am contributing to this by removing the tittle on his shirt. Give it back, now his shirt looks like a lowercase ‘L’ and he really doesn’t need any more ‘L’s.

Psst! Swol Patrol has been added to the Wild Life lineup. I love how I immediately find excuses to get rid of things like the pattern on Martyn’s shirt but insist on the most complex scars to be added.

After both the enderman attack and snail attack Martyn’s backpack strap was a goner. He’s retired it for now, and that’s not just because idk how to draw backpack straps.

Also, Ren’s glasses broke a bit but he’s committed and won’t get rid of them until they are melted to goo or something.
