I am 100% here for Big Girl Appreciation Day. Because I love my curves. Because yes, I’m gonna go back for seconds. Because yes, we are wearing the same shirt, you skinny b*tch. Because yes, I’m gonna wear crop tops and short shorts and show some skin. Because fuck society and the modeling industry’s definition of plus sized. Because fuck you for thinking I shouldn’t show my stomach or thighs. Because fuck the public school system for telling me that I can’t wear certain things because of the way I’m built but skinny girls get away with wearing damn near a bra and mini skirt to school. Because yes, I’m going to wear a 2-piece swimsuit to a public pool. Because fuck society for making me think that it’s okay to not eat or to stick a finger down my throat. Because fuck all the people on Twitter who say if woman weighs 150 pounds or more, she’s worthless and may as well kill herself (I’ve personally seen multiple people’s tweets like this). Because I’ve been told by many people including my own father that I shouldn’t or couldn’t wear skinny girl clothes. Because I’ve shopped in the men’s section of clothing stores just to be able to fit into the ‘trendy clothes’ my sisters wore. Because I’m tired of sucking it in to get a good mirror selfie. Because I’m tired of taking pictures from the chest up and not having many full body shots due to insecurities. Because plus sized models that are supposed to represent big girls like me, don’t look like me and are never shaped like me. Because society’s idea of plus sized is a tall girl with hips, never a short girl with a protruding gut like me. Because many clothing stores don’t understand that I’m not a piece of furniture so my clothes shouldn’t look like my grandmother’s living room set. Because fuck men for saying, “she cute for a big girl.” Because fuck men for thinking me and other girls built like me shouldn’t have a preference and should just be happy that someone is interested in us fat girls. Because sometimes I want a salad but no, it’s not because I’m on a diet. I just fucking like salad sometimes. Because usually society either shames us or fetishizes us and that’s fucked up.
