BEST OF 2015: GUEST LISTS
hey kids, it’s me winnipeg vibes
pretty much forgot i made this blog haha
but i done gone and emailed a bunch of notable winnipeg people
and got them to write about what things they liked this year
i noticed a trend of resistance to ranking any of the albums, which i’ll take as an indicator that my highly controversial and groundbreaking unranked list of songs from last year is now a canonical point of reference for all future year-end list making
got some pretty good responses here we go:

MICAH VISSER
makes stadium-grade anthems as Micah Visser (notably solid new single here)
top 5 local album list. (in no particular order)
1: Camp David, Babes Before Christ Ok it is no secret that I love everything Dave Shaw has done (notably Glass Random). Camp David put out this cool album in January and I still listen to it all the time and give it an A+. Enjoy its funniness and sexiness, but don't let its funniness and sexiness distract you because underneath all the kitsch there are some really smart pop songs with real depth.
2: Yes We Mystic, Vestige (duh) Hey well this one is a shoe in because it's obviously very very good. Bought it on vinyl and just love everything about it. The first time I head Contest of Strength my jaw dropped and I am certain we will get a lot more of that from YWM in 2016.
3: Basic Nature, circles and lines I only became aware of Basic Nature at Big Fun last year and every time I see or hear something new from them it manages to exceed my expectations and blow my mind. Circles and Lines is a great example of this, it's so well crafted and beautiful that is sucks you into its atmosphere demands that you devote your full attention to it. Very rewarding album. Some of the most satisfying dream pop music ever.
4: Adam Hanney and Co., 4/12 Here's one that you haven't heard because it was only released on cassette, but I can assure you there is much fun to be had here. Very densely layered, very smart. Can't wait for the album to drop because I'm sure it's going to be fantastic.
5: NOTME, Smoke Cheating with this one a little because I did some production on it but I assure you, personal contributions aside, this single is a banger. Most eerily cheerful song about trying to quit smoking and getting high I've ever heard. Look out for NOTME next year because hopefully they will be playing shows and making more killer music.
EVAN BURGESS
