OcxCanon art, I like it,buttt their table is too small, so they are probably very uncomfortable bc there's not enough space for the legs, and this is the reason why Jenkins is mad or smth
here's another stage/fright highlight, with both the boys this time ☺️ again, major spoilers. again, taken from my own recording of the penultimate performance.
this is the last scene before the closing number, in which reece and steve are reunited in the afterlife. 🫠💘 transcript ⬇️
Reece: There he is. I got you a coffee. Just like old times, you lying on the floor, pretending to be dead. But now you are dead.
Steve: Toby?
Reece: No, it's not fucking Toby! It's me. What's all this about him being brilliant? He wasn't that good.
Steve: What's going on? Where am I?
Reece: Where do you think? You summoned Bloody Belle, didn't you? This is what happens. Still think it's all bollocks?
Steve: This can't be real!
Reece: I'm afraid it is. Lamp on the head for you. Trap door for me. It's like The Omen. When I fell through that hole in rehearsals and broke my neck, you should have called the whole thing off.
Steve: Well, we thought about it, but... the programmes had all been printed...
Reece: Just thought you would cash in, did you?
Steve: No! I did it 'cause I wanted to honour you! I've missed you!
Reece: Thank you. I missed you, too.
Steve: I can't believe the twist is that you were a ghost all along.
Reece: I know. It's pathetic. Finally ran out of ideas. It's just as well we're both dead.
Steve: This is ridiculous, I can't be dead! Maybe I've just had a bang on the head, and all this is a hallucination. 'Cause I was so desperate to see you again.
Reece: Yeah, maybe. Like you said: what is a ghost but a memory? Maybe every ghost story really is... just a love story. [this is the point where they hugged at the last show]
Steve: So, what do we do now? Do we just haunt the theatre?
Reece: Yeah, yeah, we can do. I mean, there's nothing to it. Couple of creepy corridors. Substage. I did it all in an afternoon. There'll be a new play on for us to watch, now that they'll have to cancel Stage/Fright.
Steve: Ah, you're joking, aren't you? This is a Phil McIntyre production. They're not gonna cancel the run just 'cause we're both dead.
Reece: Well, maybe they could get somebody in to do all your bits.
Steve: Like who?
Reece: ... Jason Manford.
Steve: I'm not sure I wanna be stuck in limbo watching Jason Manford do me every night.
Reece: Well, at least he's a name. Who have I got? Fucking little Toby. Either way, we've got unfinished business.
Steve: What d'you mean?
Reece: Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room.
Steve: What about Bernie Clifton's Dressing Room?
Reece: You cut the end, didn't you?
Steve: I had to. I couldn't have done that song without you. It wouldn't have been the same.
Reece: Well, we're both here now. That's the main thing. Off you go.
Steve: What d'you mean?
Reece: You've got a really quick change.
Steve: Ah, shit. [exits]
Reece: [effortfully lifting the fallen lamp] He must never find out... that... I was aiming for Toby.
i said i would consider posting some s/f clips, now that some time has passed. i accept the possibility of some people being mad about it, so it goes. this is the curtain call from the penultimate performance, on 5/1/26. MAJOR spoilers obviously
i chose this bit because of the very, very long pause in "my... writing partner." it's crazymaking. also remember that by the end of the tour, this speech was usually followed by blowing a kiss up to heaven and mouthing something (possibly "love you mate")
transcript ⬇️
Steve: Thank you so much. Um... sorry, I just really wanted — before you go — I just [clears throat] Sorry, I wanted to apologise for, for walking out of the scene earlier, um.
As I'm sure you can all imagine, it, it's been a really difficult, er, few days for us all as a company, um, but for me in particular. Er, you might not know, but I, I recently lost... my... writing partner... the cheese to my crackers. But also my best friend.
Er, Reece and I had written this play together, and it said so much about our love of comedy; our love of, of ghosts and horror stories; and... yeah, I suppose the difficulty of, of just saying goodbye to someone. So I really wanted to honour him by going through with the run.
It's not been easy. Um, obviously Toby stepped in, who's Reece's understudy. Did an amazing job, I'm sure you'll agree. [pause for applause] Although there were one or two little slip-ups tonight, weren't there?
Toby: Rubik's Clube.
Steve: Rubik's Clube, yeah. But, you know, we got through it. And what I found so hard, personally, tonight, was — I looked across, and... I didn't see Toby at all. I just saw Reece. I miss him so much.
Anyway, before I completely embarrass myself, I just wanna thank once again this incredible company for all their support. Thank you guys so much. [pause for applause] I wanna thank everyone here at the Apollo Theatre. I wanna thank you all for coming here tonight. And will you please join us, now, in giving a final round of applause... to Reece Shearsmith!
Susan Calman talks about her Stage/Fright experience - source
SC: So, I'm wearing something though I wanted to show you. [unzips] People at home, you just heard the unzipping of something.
MM: Very Carry On. I like it.
SC: I'm wearing my Cheese and Crackers t-shirt.
MM: Oh my god, look at thaaaat! That's an excellent t-shirt!
SC: I got it because the most exciting thing I've done since I last spoke to you was Inside No 9.
MM: Oh my god. Yeah. I Right. We need to talk about this cos this is so exciting. And for people that for people who don't know, I mean, Inside No 9, I'm sure most people are aware of this wonderful anthology TV show, right? that ran on the BBC, created by Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton. It ran for nine seasons, nine years. It came to an end last year and then they did a live show called Stage/Fright, which ran really successfully in London and then went on tour around the UK. And as part of the show - without spoiling too much, cos I know some people don't want to be spoiled in this show - without spoiling too much, there is a sort of surprise cameo, right From an actor, from a celebrity-
SC: Yes
MM: from a comedian at some point in the show. And every show, they had a different person on to join them on stage.
SC: Yes
MM:And you got to be that surprise guest in one of the one of the shows, right?
SC: Well, they often have local guests for local people.
MM: Of course. Of course!
SC: So, what happens is, and I if you've seen the show, you'll you'll understand what I'm talking about. If not, it's still interesting, I think.
MM: Yeah.
SC: Got an email saying, "Would you like to do this thing on Inside No 9?" Answer: Yes. I mean, I would do anything. Inside No 9, I was relistening... You did a podcast on the Evolution of Horror, which was about The League of Gentlemen and Inside No 9, right?
MM: Yeah, there's a absolutely a podcast in looking at every single episode of Inside No 9.
MM: Oh my god, that's on my list! It's on my list!
SC: Okay, so is that the next one once you finish this?
MM: Yeah, I think so. I think so.
SC: So, all you're told is turn up at 6 O'clock at the Edinburgh Playhouse.
MM: Mhm.
SC: That's it.
MM: Mhm.
SC: You're asked vaguely what your size is for a costume.
MM: Right.
SC: So, I know you'd seen it, but I didn't ask you 'cos I didn't know want it spoiled. I did not want to know what was going to happen.
MM: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Of course.
SC: And the stage manager gives you a couple of cues. Says basically, "You're going to sit there and you have to say this and you have to say this" and that is all they tell you.
MM: Right?
SC: And you go on stage. First of all, Reece and Steve were the nicest people in the entire world. They were so sweet. And I felt like such a fan girl 'cos I was keeping it under wraps. But I said, "My friend Mike knows you, Reece!"
MM: Yes. Yes.
SC: I was like, "What? What a stupid thing to say? My friend knows you."
MM: Oh! Isn't he just the most lovely man in the world?
SC: Oh, he's so nice!
MM: Yeah.
SC: And I got to watch the whole of the- 'cos my cameo bit came at the end of the first half.
MM: Mhm.
SC: But they let you watch the show from backstage. And you can see how it all works and it's incredible and wonderful. So, what they said was - and this is for the people who saw me do it at the Edinburgh Playhouse who were slightly shocked by what happened...
MM: (laughs)
SC: They encourage you to shout at them.
MM: Yes. Yes.
SC: They the worse you are, the more Steve and Reece like it.
MM: right?
MM: Like you, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can imagine.
SC: So they basically say just scream at them. And I did that and it was one of the most fun things. And they ask you to so it's a scenario where it's basically improv and they say: "And then you have to do this and then you have to do this and then you have to do this and then you have to do this..." And if you just go along with it, because my aim was- apparently Reece sometimes corpses quite badly and my aim was to try and make Reece corpse. Which I managed.
MM: Amazing.
SC: At one point - the only thing I'll say is at one point I said "I will fight you both." And it was- and then I got to watch the second half which is stunning. It is the most stunning piece of art, isn't it?
MM: Oh. The second half is- I mean, I love both acts. The first act works better as a kind of homage of the TV show. It's almost like a collection of bits from the TV show. The second half is like a brand new very, very theatre-centric thing. And it's just, yeah, it's a masterpiece, isn't it? It's wonderful. Absolutely wonderful.
SC: What I love about both of them is they have such a love not just of horror, but of old comedy.
MM: Right? I mean-
SC: And variety.
MM: This is catnip for me and you and our interests, right? Like it is it's kind of the... comedy history, horror history, blending of the two. They've got so much knowledge between them, right? It's so good.
SC: If there's any possible way you can get to an Inside No 9, 'cos they've just finished in Birmingham, I think just now and then they're going to London again.
MM: Yeah, the tour... I think by the time people have listened, by the time people listen to this, the the UK tour would have finished, but they'll be doing a few final dates in London. Maybe right now.
SC: If there's any way of getting there, it was just the most... It was an honour.
MM: Oh!
SC: To be on the same stage as the two of them, it really was.
MM: Absolutely incredible! Yeah, that is a good I was very excited, very excited to hear your story of how it went as well. So, that's excellent.
...as well as just where to watch them in general.
sooo... I don't know if this has been done yet but I've decided to make a sort of compliation of google drives for all the different remakes of BBC Ghosts. Just in case it might be helpful, because through my other posts, I've learned that quite a few people don't know there are other versions of Ghosts. Disclaimer: I don't own any of these google drives, and I've mostly encountered them through Tumblr and Reddit posts so thank you so much to the people who made them!!
BBC Ghosts (UK Original)
Found on this Tumblr post. We thank you, o kind one. If you live in Britain, pretty sure it's up on BBC iPlayer.
(Dunno why Tumblr refuses to make this a big link.) Found on this Reddit post. fyi, this Google drive doesn't include the fifth season, at least as of now. I've found the fifth season on a pirating site called "lookmovie2". If you live in America, you can watch the recent episodes for free on the CBS website. The whole series is up on Paramount+, and apparently the earlier seasons are on Netflix in some countries.
ARD Ghosts (Germany)
(English subtitles are included.) Found this link on a Tumblr post—sorry to report that I don't know who made it, and have forgotten which post I've sourced this from. I do know who did the translations—that would be @rovermcfly. The English-speaking community thanks you. If you can speak German, the episodes are available for free on the ARD website.
Ghosts France
(English subtitles are included.) I sourced this from the same Tumblr post as the German remake. Unfortunately, I don't know who made this drive or who translated. I'm pretty sure you can watch this on Disney+ also... but only for some regions.
Ghosts Greece
(English subtitles are included.) Translations and Google drive by @ratnix. Once again, the English speakers thank you. If you know Greek, the episodes are available on the Star TV website. Pretty sure they're free but can't tell 'cause I don't speak Greek.
Ghosts Australia
I found this one on this Tumblr post. I don't know any other legal websites you can watch this on.
