i will literally never think snape is a better person than the marauders. you all always talk about when sirius tricked snape to the whomping willow and how it was attempted murder, or that the marauders bullied snape. snape and the marauders were rivals and snape gave just as much shit to them as they gave him.
the difference between snape and the marauders is that the marauders stopped. james grew up and stopped giving him shit because lily wouldn't have given him a chance otherwise. sirius probably kept up with the names and probably fought back if snape and him interacted but he probably stopped paying him attention after "the prank." remus and peter were pussys and probably gave snape the least shit. i don't doubt that they did anything but peter hid behind the other three and remus tended toward just not stepping in when james and sirius attacked snape.
on the other hand, snape left school and joined a terrorist organisation that hated people specifically like his supposed "love", when he found out the prophecy meant lily was in danger he asked voldemort ONLY to spare her. if lily had been the only survivor of october 31st she would've been miserable, and if she'd found out that it was snape's doing i have no doubt that she would've killed him. past that, he only takes students with an O result on their OWLs for his newt potions course, meaning he has smaller classes, but we're shown over the books that he bullies students from other houses causing students to hate or fear him meaning that only students needing potions for their careers are taking the classes or they're possibly even missing out on those dream careers due to fearing or hating him enough to not take the class.
speaking of fearing snape, neville's boggart being snape is the most vile thing in the entire book series. neville's family is Worse than the Dursleys. his uncle pushed him off a pier, pushed him out of multiple windows, his grandmother forced him to use his father's wand for most of his time at hogwarts meaning that he was forcing immense amounts of power into using a wand that wasn't loyal to him, resulting i everyone bullying him and calling him names for not being magical enough for their tastes. not to mention, his parents were tortured to insanity by bellatrix, barty jr, and the the lestrange brothers. he had all this horrible things in his life and out of all of them, his biggest fear is his TEACHER??
his pensive memories from DH didn't change my feeling of hatred toward him. he was a horrible, vindictive man who bullied literal children and was worse than james, sirius, remus, and peter ever were during their school days. even with peter becoming a death eater he didnt have to swear an unbreakable vow to help save harry in the end.
and you can say, "oh but he was a spy and had to make sure he could go back to voldemort to spy again!" ok. it doesn’t change the fact that he was a miserable wastrel who bullied more children during his nearly 17 year long career than james and sirius bullied proven racist bullies during their 7 school years.
sirius never really had a home in the literal sense of it. not at 12 grimmauld place, where every wall knew how to bite, not at hogwarts, no matter how badly he wanted it to be. these homes were always temporary things to him, leaving sirius feeling temporary too. in other people’s spaces, under their roofs, in their borrowed bedrooms.
home was euphemia kissing his forehead as it was the most natural thing in the world. it was fleamont making him tea late at night while pretending not to notice sirius lingering in the kitchen because he didn’t want to be alone yet. it was james loving him so loudly and so easily because there was nothing to earn first, no version of himself he had to become to deserve it.
and then home became remus. remus, half-asleep, reaching for sirius in his sleep without even opening his eyes. because remus’s body already knew where he wanted to be, right beside sirius. because, somewhere along the way, they had become each other’s homes too

the biggest crime in this fandom is to downplay Prongsfoot's relationship for the sake of making other romantic ships more important.

regulus is the WORST when he’s drunk because suddenly he’s social. hugging people. complimenting people he openly hates. agreeing to every terrible idea immediately like “yeah obviously let’s steal that traffic cone.” he gets weirdly affectionate too, like holding people’s faces and telling them they matter to him meanwhile everyone around him is just standing there in genuine horror because this is REGULUS
