Cale Henituse, Who Are You? (Hypothesis 1 /?)
Alright before I post little snippets of TCF fanfiction, I would just like to vent (or rant) first because I have never told anyone these little theories of mine. You can read if you want but it's okay if not lmao
ANYWAY! I have here a small theory about the Original Cale Henituse (whose life I am curious about). If there are any wrong references, I will fix it later. Please bear with me as I am writing this from my memory only, and English is not my first language. Thanks!
In this session of word vomit I call theory, I will be going over the little snippets that gives me the information that concerns Cale Henituse's life. This post will be divided into two parts: (1) the snippets of information, and (2) what I could infer from it.
The summary of this theory is found at the end of this post.
DISCLAIMER: the references only reach up to around 400 chapters :)
First thing I have noticed when I read the novel was that Hans and Ron had a specific reaction when Cale said that he wanted to use the study. Hans even said that he will tell Count Deruth, right? Hans also said that they will clean Cale's study like it was last used yesterday, instead of ten years.
I was suspicious back then. Of course they would be surprised that a trash would want to go to the study. But I think, there is more to it than that. I was not satisfied then lmao.
Later, Count Deruth had revealed that one of the butlers told him that Cale skipped dinner as he was still in the study.
It gave me a vague feeling that it had happened before then too.
The next bit of information was when Hans told Cale that [Cale] did not study any history, and that he was actually pretty smart without studying. Now, listen, this bit will be really speculative because it has a lot of bias from Hans, and when he said that Cale was pretty smart, he was pertaining to Kim Rok Soo. However, the other sentence was important: Cale did not study any history.
Next, it is revealed that Cale's body is actually highly tolerant of alcohol. This is a pretty obvious fact that most readers know, so I'm not going to go in depth with this.
Next, Cale Henituse is friends with an upright Eric Wheelsman.
Next, Basen Henituse recalls what Cale told him before (I think it was back when Cale was eight to eleven years old?). I couldn't recall the exact words but the impression is that Cale actually cares, assuming that what Basen recalled was accurate.
Somewhere in the book mentions that even mentioning Cale's mother is taboo in the Henituse territory (or at least, in the Henituse Estate).
The next bit is concerning the other fanfictions I found on AO3 a month ago, where it is a frequent theme to have either Cale or Cale's mother to have the ability to see the future. It is kind of shaky if OG Cale had the ability to see the future, so in this theory (which is prolly gonna flop) we will be incorporating the other theory where Cale's mother can see the future... Just because it is kinda cool and kinda fits with the other details of this theory. Especially the study room fiasco.
There are various versions where the ability to see the future were some kind of un-introduced power in the novel. Looking at it from a reader's standpoint, and since I noticed that there are hidden little snips of important information in between seemingly useless chatter, here's what I think: the future is in code, and is kept in a journal or some kind of diary. This forbidden (uh, I can’t think of another word) diary/book/journal is kept somewhere around the house, most probably at Cale's study room, in the Henituse Library, a hidden library, or something. However, I do not know where that knowledge about the future came from.
SO, ANYWAY, WHAT IS MY POINT?
There are a few possibilities that can be inferred from the information above. Beware, as most of these are speculation and intuition only.
Starting from when his mother died, which we currently assume as when he was around eight years old, he started going down the trash road. Not immediately though.
First, after his mother died so suddenly, he would (as most of us would) first ask why that happened. If I was Cale, who probably had been close to his mom, I will find out why that happened, especially if the whole household was keeping their mouth shut about things like that.
And if I found that book mentioned above, at age eight, I would try to decode it and find out why it happened.
Assuming that the education for nobles start at either 7 or 8 years old, he would have prioritized finding information about his mother's death and forgone studying about history, which some children would deem unimportant. (He's a child, forgive him lmao he does not know that studying history will be important at the time.)
Somewhere around eight and fifteen years old, he either found out something or nothing at all. He probably found something, which made him devise a plan that would require him to act as a piece of trash.
But since I am using Hans and Ron's statements and reactions as my basis, let's assume that Cale really was smart and found out everything in the span of one year since his mother's death. He found out at the cost of skipping meals etc etc sleeping at the study room etc. Which is why Count Deruth, Ron, and Hans had those reactions when KRS became Cale.
I don't know where this would be going, but at some point, when his father has another wife, he would be acting like trash then, and was now avoiding the study room like it was plagued (which, in his point of view would be understandable). Either he knows something about the upcoming war or he knows nothing about it (and knows something else instead), only prompting him to act as a trash to everyone else, and treats Choi Han (whom he would meet later at age 18) as a lesser human being either because he doesn't know who Choi Han is or because he knows who he is and wants to avoid him. Either way, he acts trashy and gets beaten up.
At age 15, he would start consuming alcohol, then finding out that he was highly tolerant of the beverage. He uses it to his advantage, pretending to be drunk while he isn't really. (This is a speculation because it is unclear whether it was Cale's body that was alcohol tolerant or Kim Roksoo's brain that stays clear due to his ability.) From this point onwards, Basen is the most probable successor of the County.
At age 18, he meets Choi Han.
At age 20, the Henituse County participates in the Roan Kingdom's war against the other kingdoms and the secret organization.
Something happens after that, and I don't know if I can blindly guess what lmao but since there's a dimension traveller Choi Han, reincarnator White Star, transmigrator Kim Rok Soo, why not throw a yoo jonghyuk or kim dokja in there idk just kidding—
