Dragons plant no trees.
You know... I agree that Daenerys’ fate is sad. It is. It is hearbreaking. But I cannot get over how people are justifying what she did. I agree that the last season could be much better, if it wasn’t so rushed, but in general, I don’t mind how it turned out. By that I mean the “endings” of the main characters. I am still pissed about Missandei and heartbroken over Jorah and Theon, but in general, I think it made sense, it would make more sense, if they have given it more episodes, but it did. Bittersweet in so many ways. I didn’t expect a happy ending and I did expect the Mad Queen twist. Those who say it wasn’t foreshadowed hasn’t been paying attention. The fact that Dany has always been kind, doesn’t really mean anything you know... Even people with a good heart can get mad.
ESPECIALLY with such a predisposition, being a Targaryen. They were marrying their siblings, incest was a normal thing in that house, and by having kids with your own sibling... there comes trouble. Daenerys’ father was a mad man. Her brother was also mad. It was just a matter of time something triggers her if it is inside her. And apparently, it was inside her since the beginning. Some of her actions were questionable. Luckily, she has always had her advisors with her, that kind of kept her on the right path... once she lost them all... the madness emerged. And despite her being genuinly a good person, the madness took over. And she lost it. She lost it and slaughtered millions, burned the whole city.
So here is the thing. Did she deserve better? Yes, she did. Should we root for her after she has slaughtered children? No. We should not. Did she deserve to die? No. She deserved to have a happy life somewhere far away from Westeros, but her desire to get the Iron Throne has caused her everything, including her mind. So was there any other choice than for Jon (or someone else) to kill her? Not really, to be honest. She wouldn’t stop until the whole Westeros burnt. She would definitely kill Sansa and Arya, that is for sure. In a time, she would kill Jon. There was no coming back for Jon. I kind of wished Arya would do it, but it was probably more heartbreaking when Jon did it. The moment she said that other people don’t get to choose... Jon has decided, because he knew the real Daenerys was gone and that the madness took over.
So yeah... that is kind of my whole point... I did love Daenerys for years. I kind of started to like her less around season 4 or something, it wasn’t my top favourite character anymore, yet I still kind of rooted for her... but those saying that she is their queen and that they don’t care she burnt the whole city to the ground, should probably kind of think about it first. I understand, if my favourite character did something like that, I would be mad at the writers too... It is sad. But the fact you do not like the was it turned out, doesn’t mean it doesn’t make any sense. It does. It was rushed. And it would have been much better with more episodes. But it did make sense. And you wouldn’t like the ending any better if the Mad Queen final development took 10 episodes... this part is not about rushing.
