I don’t want the Stark sisters to have a strained relationship when they reunite because Sansa was mean to Arya when they were younger, no.

I want them to be strained because Sansa finds out that not only did Arya get to see their mother again, but that she is the reason Sansa will never get that same chance because Arya killed Lady Stoneheart.

I want Sansa’s resemblance to Catelyn to trigger Arya’s fear of rejection and feelings of inferiority and it put her on the defensive whenever she’s around Sansa.

I want them to be passive aggressive, avoidant and argumentative towards each other until it finally comes to a head and they’re forced to talk to each other earnestly and open up to each other.

I want them convinced that they’ll just never get past their differences only to end up crying in each other’s arms when they have their first honest conversation.

I previously asked if anyone would be interested in an Arya Stark plush, and this is the design I had in mind for her! A 15cm/6 in plush with a printed body and few accessories like a wolf circlet, a fur cape, and her little needle (which has all been approved by the manu 🩶)

There needs to be at least 30 people willing to buy one during a presale period in order for her to be manufactured, so if you're at all interested please let me know below! Arya reunites with Nymeria and meets her wolfpack. She'll also reunite with her mother who will then crown Arya as Robb's successor ✨👑🐺🗡️🤍🩶✨

Once you notice how common mischaracterization of Arya is it’s hard to unsee it.. There’s this one fanart of a modern AU Sansa & Arya in ballet and it’s very cute and light-hearted, with Sansa being happy and graceful, and Arya seemingly very unhappy to be there and be in the ballet outfit, but unrelated to that artwork someone pointed out the connection between water dancing and ballet and after that it kind of hit me that if anything, Arya would thrive in ballet. (In fact, I think it’s a funny idea that Catelyn has to deal with Arya finally adhering to seemingly more feminine traditions when she does ballet—because the clothes and hairstyles are actually practical for it, which seems to be Arya’s main priority when it comes to her attire—but only when it comes to ballet. Nothing else)

Another incident of this is another absolutely adorable fanart of Catelyn teaching the girls how to make flower crowns, and again, Sansa is depicted as happy and graceful, and Arya… not so much. This one I immediately kinda paused because I was actively reading AGoT at the time, and the scene of Arya gathering flowers and gifting them to Ned popped into my head, especially because it’s from Sansa’s POV, who internally expresses her disgust and frustration at Arya doing such a thing. This one I think is less so a mischaracterization because I could see it being more plausible, if Catelyn told Sansa it was ladylike to make flower crowns, she’d probably do it happily, as long as she could continuously make sure no dirt gets on her lol. I’m not sure if Arya’s failure in embroidery (another intricate task done with the hands) is due to her left-handedness, so that’s another thing to consider.

These are such tiny things to notice, and I don’t fault the artists for it at all, I think both artworks are very cute and I don’t mean to hate on them in any way, it’s just something I think about.

(okay but no seriously ASoIaF/GoT is not even close to being the smallest fandom I’ve been in and yet I’ve never suffered with this much lack of fandom content for a favorite character EVER)

I have a theory about the claims that Arya is not written as realistic or relatable—in terms of her being nine years old and a girl—but I’m waiting til I finish ACoK at the very least before I go too in-depth with my thoughts about it. (Unrealistic and unrelatable.. or simply autistic?)

Before starting the books I’d already known that Arya experienced some bullying but I truly wasn’t prepared for the level of insecurity and self-hatred she, a nine year old little girl, would have until that very first Arya chapter. I was so bewildered because what do you mean that scene in the show where she’s annoyed at having to do something “girly” and would rather be out training with the boys was actually written as a scene where she tries to fit in and be included with Sansa & her friends but just can’t connect with them because of how those girls have been raised to view her, &/or how she’s been raised to view herself? Or how rather than being headstrong and confident, she’s so insecure and unhappy about being othered by everyone and jealous that she isn’t more like Sansa?? Not to mention the removal of how there *are* things that Arya is good at the are considered traditionally feminine, but because she doesn’t conform to traditional femininity like Sansa, or more truly, because she doesn’t *look* like Sansa, it’s not enough.
