About Tecna's Enchantix

At the start of the series, Faragonda explains a fairy earns her Enchantix when saving someone from their planet.

This leaves many arguing Tecna's Enchantix is a plot hole, as her sacrifice saves Andros, which isn't her home world nor had her people on it.

But I argue it makes sense, as with her sacrifice Tecna did save someone from Zenith: herself.

Hadn't she closed the portal, everyone on Andros would have died, her included.

It was only her sacrifice that saved her (& everyone else), earning her Enchantix.

Btw other than the AU where the Winx are in the MH setting I was also thinking of one where the ghouls are in the Winx setting!!

Only thing is I'm not as confident in it since I don't know the Winx worldbuilding too well 😅

+ idk how to go about the very "gendered" school division, like I want boy fairies & witches and girl specialists!!! But how do I sort everyone in these different schools?? :P

📄 I thought about her being a Moon Fairy too; but ultimately settled on Animal Fairy to keep the pun in her name.

All her siblings are gonna share her fairy type, which would have worked with both, but I thought it might be cute to have Howleen be "Puppies Fairy" lol. The moon theme will instead appear in relation to Crescent, more on this later ·;)

Frankie - Electricity Fairy

📄 I felt it matches her "Voltageous" super-sona haha.

Since (G1) Frankie's the protagonist, I was considering switching Bloom's fire "life spark" symbolism for Frankie's electric one, reminiscing Freaky Fusion. Bloom's adoptee plot, searching her true origins, could also translate well to Frankie. I still have to think about what a plot for this AU would even be tho, and idk if putting focus on someone else instead 🤔

Ula D - Witch-to-Fairy

📄 Wanted to keep a "gothic" edge to Draculaura, also cuz at first I wasn't sure how to go about her name lol. Reducing it to "Laura" felt like I was taking away too much, so her nickname finally comes to use HAHAHAHAHA xP

The "solution" became to make her a witch, with a Mirta-ish plot. Not sure what her fairy powers would be yet😅 tho I do think design wise she'd resemble Chimera. Being a witch also felt like a cute wink to G3

Laguna - Water Fairy

📄 The easiest of them all!!!! Gave her a mini-name change. I felt Winx would spell it in a slightly more Latin/Italian way.

Only issue is: should she be a specialist instead??🫪.. mabpy. Or should she be an Undine?? Is she gonna take Aisha's place?? Be from Andros?? Not sure!!! 😭😭

Cleo ...Time Fairy (?)

📄 I also thought Gold, Sun or Gem fairy. But I thought "Time" would give her & Nefera more importance + allow for a "historical" theme that tied with Ancient Egyptian motifs?

Another one was "sand fairy", but I thought sand motifs/powers could be integrated in the "time" imagery with hourglasses... ⏳. Not sure, might change it to Gold Fairy after all. But I also thought "history" powers could match with Ghoulia having something intelligence related.

Pets-to-Pixies

Winx Animals get really confusing. There's: Fairy Pets, Fairy Animals, Pixie Pets, Pixie Animas. Who are for some reason all different things 😭. I could have turned the MH pets into Fairy Animals, but I decided to go a different route.

Since I wouldn't know how else to add Pixies, the MH-animals will be turned each in a different Pixie >:)

Crescent - Moon Pixie (to complete Clawdeen's animal powers forming a werewolf pun)

Watzit - Shapeshifting Pixie

Count Fabulous - either an Elf (=aka Evil Pixie) OR a fairy that was cursed to be really small lol

Neptuna - Waves Pixie (didn't want to call her a water pixie cuz I feared it might be repetitive... Alternatively she could be a Kelpie, but I'd like to keep her in the same group as the other pets... Idk 🤔)

Hissette Sibilla - Jewels Pixie (I changed her name to one of the way it was dubbed in Italian MH; idk about Cleo's fairy type so I struggle a bit with Hissette too..🫪)

Now I wouldn't know how to go about fairy animals x(....

Should I make them from scrap?? Maybe base them on the ghoul's OG monster type... 🤔 Like Clawdeen gets a Wolf, Frankie a Chimera, Drac a Bat, Lagoona a Fish, Cleo a Snake n Ghoulia a... Ghoul?? Idk.

Alternatively base them on the "Ghoul's beast pet" line... So again Clawdeen a Wolf, Frankie a Bear, Ula a Poodle, Lagoona a Turtle, Cleo a Cat?

Alfea, Cloud Tower & Red Fountain

I do want Bloodgood as Alfea's principal, but idk if she should get a name change x(

If I make Robecca a specialist then I think it would be cool to have Hexiciah as faculty for Red Fountain!! But I also think it'd be cool if he was just a fairy...

I don't know how to go about Cloud Tower!! Should like... Dracula be principal?? As a reference to G2 n to tie in the potential Ula D plot??

I'm not sure about the other faculty members yet... Sue Nami could replace Griffin as vice-principal, I can see Mr. Hackington being an Ogre and (if we keep her at Alfea) Kindergrubber as a fairy godmother.

**HELP!!! I have NO STORY!!

As I said, I don't feel very confident in this AU, mostly cuz idk what to do story wise 💀.

I don't have the Trix, although I wanted to use Toralei, Persephone and Meowlody in their place. Still, they would be less of a treat n more of minor villains in here.

Hence idk what to do with witches!!! 😭 That's why I was thinking I'd mainly involve Cloud Tower & Witches in a Draculaura witch-to-fairy arch, but I don't have much out of that.

Winx plot are about gaining new forms to defeat a big bad, but I'm not sure how to trace that😅.

Sirenix is the only one I got something for since it could be easily translated as a plot with the Great Scarrier Reef cast. Kala could be a sea witch, Posea a Nymph etc... tho I'm not sure how to escalate the conflict.

Idk how to tie in the Haunted cast, or how to approach other transformations.

hiiii im thinking of an AU where the Winx are MH characters n their story is adapted to the MH worldbuinding

*Story Adjustments

To try n keep the main characters dramas/plots, I thought it might be interesting to play with the EAH cross over too.

I though Bloom could be a lost "dragon princess" or something, with Domino being changed to EAH world. She would not know this initially, but have it revealed maybe by Stella, who could take Astranova's place as "random alien cross over character", since the comet/star theming can easily translate to her.

Aisha's sea monster family would be related to siren/mermaids (to rework the "sirenix" plot); so she could have an EAH connection too.

(**) Witches in Winx Vs MH

To adapt the Trix rivarly, i was thinking that instead of witches they could be "monster hunter" normies. They could keep powers by using talismans? I was thinking Griffin's character could be that she is a normie teacher that keeps an after-school activity/course about the paranormal. The Wizards of the Black Circle could also be monster hunters in this AU.

I like the idea of Faragonda being MH's headmissterss, but I wanted her to be a witch. I know this might feel contradicting since like, witches are THE OPPOSITE of winx, but since i'm turning Cloud Tower into a normie extracurricual class rather than a school, I thought it might work? I also kinda like that it references the theory Faragonda used to be a witch before being a fairy (cuz they said her n Griffin went to school together). I think it could be cool if here it was that she used to be friends with Griffin as a "normie", but was secretly a witch/later became one. (***)

In general i kinda like to play with the idea of normies turning into monsters/viceversa to help adjust stuff from winx to MH.

To keep Musa's story with her mom I like the idea she was a normie who died w her family and they all became a ghosts. Except her mom, her soul didn't show up in the after life. She's just gone :(

Roxy's story I imagine being that she's a werewolf living among normies. I like to think she hasn't unlocked her werewolf form, so she doesn't know.

I would also like Mirta's story of going witch-to-fairy to be adapted into her being a headless girl (like MH-Bloodgood) posing as a human at the Griffin's school/course. She would join MH after the Trix discover this n hide her head, forcing her to wear a pumpkin. Then the (monster)Winx would help retriving her head.

Masterlist

Princess Amentia of Downland (Queen in 4Kids dub), first appearing S2E4, is the ruler of a small kingdom of people called Trog (which I have a few problems about that we’ll talk on later). She is a dominant, perfectionist that falls madly in love with Brandon, Stella’s boyfriend. She serves as a minor conflict and minor ally to the Winx against Darkar. And while I think Amentia is a unique character that should’ve been explored more, she is also written off as a pitch poor portrayal of women in positions of power and borders on racist stereotypes. It’s unfortunate that I’ve yet to see any posts or articles talking about the inappropriate portrayal of her character and her people.

Not only is she a powerful ruler, she is also an impressive warrior, and so are many of her people. Despite their impressive nature, she and her soldiers are written as brainless brutes. Especially the soldiers. This is a common portrayal of unfortunately several brown people, but especially Indians & Arabians (also Natives, with how they’re written as savage and uncivilized) All of these cultures are stereotyped as being controlling, the same way Princess Amentia is. But I specifically want to talk about her being a woman in a position of power first.

In the world of Winx we don’t often get female rulers, which is strange as the Magic Realm has various societies and cultures but for some reason they’re all Kingdoms? Another rant for another day. But my point still stands, she is, other than the Queen of the Earth fairies, the only female ruler and indisputably the only female warrior. Yet, she’s controlling and doesn’t understand the idea of consent. She’s selfish, self-centered, and uses her position as a way to, frankly, just be a bitch to everyone. While she has good qualities, like being a strong strategist and, of course, fighter. She’s written so shallowly for the sake of being a low-stake conflict instead of a fully-rounded character. It’s sad to see the only woman in power to be written in such a bitchy way as many women with positional power are viewed.

It’s also gross with the way they solved this conflict by forcing her to fall in love with someone else without her consent nor the work necessary to make a happy couple. I know one of the dubs made it where she realized Sponsus is her soulmate instead of falling in love with him on the spot, but I’ve always hated the soulmate trope because, in this case, it just feels like an easy fix.

Now onto the stereotypes, it was always something I noticed even as a child. It’s clear the Trog is a weird mix of Aztec & Orientalist aesthetics. Amentia wears what looks like a dupatta in her military outfit (a strange contrast to her immodest outfit which goes against the usage of the dupatta). She also wears a bindi or a Tilaka, which personally I think it is more of, which isn’t specifically a problem but helps to prove the Trogs are pulling from Indian asesthetics. Her and the other female Trogs dress in what looks like bellydancing costumes or vaguely Aztec costumes. And while I don’t have a problem with her or the Trogs being inspired by various cultures, the fact that they’re portrayed as savages leaves a sour taste when paired with their outfits being poor, sexualized versions or shallow depictions of real cultures.

Not to mention the forced marriage conflict, is strange. I get using arranged marriages as conflict, this happens in several series, it literally happens multiple times in Winx alone. But it feels downplayed for how uncomfortable Brandon was and for how often Amentia forced herself on him. And while this may be a stretch, it just looks like they’re minimizing female-initiated sexual assault and harassment.

Lastly, the name Trog. This is literally an insult in the english language, it being a shortened version of Troglodyte. It’s already a shitty move to name a species after an insult but to have these stereotypes on top of it, is so much worse.

Amentia deserved to be taken seriously as a character and not a gross interpretation of women in power, her being aggressive and forceful are not what make a powerful woman powerful. She deserved to learn how to fall in love and not to pick a suitor based on looks or her perfectionist ideas. Her people deserved to stand as interesting characters without being stereotypical or shallow. Also it would’ve been great to see her pop up again in later seasons, especially S3. As one of the only kingdoms that doesn’t use magic it would’ve been interesting to see where she stood against Valtor.

There is so much that could’ve been done with her personality and a character in her position, yet they threw them in for low-stake conflict and filler content.

In short, Princess Amentia deserved better.

Earth as a concept in Winx Club is so funny to me actually because wdym there's an entire Magic DIMENSION, and then there's just. Earth. With magic. Aaaalllll the way over there by itself.

"Earth was part of the Magic Dimension, then it wasn't for a while, but now it is again." ??? Man you can't just remove a whole planet from the DIMENSION and then add it back. Also?? What are we considering 'part of' in this context?? Was Earth created by the Great Dragon?? Because that's kinda the whole thing right, that's the main thing connecting all those realms. But Earth has lil realms of its own, the thing connecting those; EARTH ITSELF. Its main magical inhabitants don't really seem interested in the Dragon Flame either? Not even the notorious wing-stealing magic-eaters wanted it. Which could mean nothing ofc. It could.

Circling (heheh) back, if 'part of' only means 'in contact with, but nowhere near each other, they never were' which? Fine, I guess, but that also makes the Magic Dimension look fake as Hell. They really let the planet erupt into conflict to the point it wasn't even considered a magical planet anymore, then were like "Heeyyy omg welcome back nice to hear from you guys again" the moment things were ''solved''.

I mean, I'm all for "That's their conflict to solve we can't just intervene like that" nuance in this case ofc, because realistically yeah, how do intervene with something like that. But the way the wotbc are implied to be somewhat known and feared across the Magic Dimension for what they did, to the point their portrait is in Alfea's HALL OF EVIL PEOPLE, suggests that there is no nuance and the wizards really were just a Problem everyone refused to help with for no reason. Also makes it look like they were keeping up with Earth like this

WHICH would make it infinitely funnier if Earth was made by the Great Dragon and it was located with the rest of the Magic Dimension. Previously one of its realms, KICKED OUT to float through space with a bunch of other stinky non-magical planets for who knows how long? Literally removed? All because its fairies got their shit rocked, that's so mean wthh

I don't really think that's the case ofc but imagine.

While I do think it's probably more likely the case that Earth isn't part part of the Magic Dimension, but rather somewhat in contact. If even that. There's layers to that also? Because if the Great Dragon didn't create it or its magic, what did?? The magic system over there seems slightly different as a whole anyway, in terms of transformations and progressions for fairies alone. Never got a full look at it, but that's what the crumbs kinda imply? I think?? Lot's of potential to be VERY magically diverse over there btw, like generally, despite the amount of space there is to work with.

But then again, the way it's separated from most other magical realms in most ways, canonically for a while, possibly even longer........ things to think about ily Winx Earth <3

Something random I find super interesting within the Winx worldbuilding is the fauna & monsters populating Magix, outside of Fairies

Trogs, Undines, Hunting Trolls, Elves, Leprechauns, Elfs, Gnomes, Pixies, Dragons, Dinosaurs, Fairy Beavers... the geography and biodiversity of Magix is quite interesting 🤔
