Hey G3, could you please stop giving your black characters straight hair with a few braids/dreadlocks lazily tossed in?

Once again, I’m not a G3 hater, but this is becoming a trend and I dislike it. It reeks texturism.

Don’t start with the “black people can have straight hair” or something along those lines.

I know that and it’s not the point. The point is that there is barely any representation for textured hair in media, even in G3.

And when they keep straightening the hair of the few characters who were supposed to have textured hair instead of trying new afro hairstyles, they are actively contributing to said lack of representation.

Monster High Clair: Ghouls Rule Custom

I really pushed off finishing this ghoul for a while, mostly on account of trying to figure out the sweater. Did I knit it? Sew it? I was so overwhelmed by trying to do either than I just decided to put it down for like a year.

Then I picked up the doll this past week and went wait.. what if I just painted the spare Enid sweater I bought?

I tried really hard to freehand the skull from a still of the movie and a png I found online, but that was the best I could come up with. Right now honestly I'm sad I didn't attempt a skullette. Maybe I'll throw some eyelashes and a bow on the skull?

The actual process of painting the sweater was pretty easy. I used regular acrylic paint and saturated the sweeter with it. It is slightly stiffer than it was before, but since I don't really plan on doing much with the doll I didn't mind. The paint tends to seep through, so I also recommend saran wrapping the parts of the doll that the sweater is going to touch.

The tights are Scaris Rochelle's, because I felt like it was the closest to the source material. Her gloves are from the creepro Ghoulia, the boots are repainted Scaris Ghoulia boots, and the hair streak is stolen from a Frankie doll.

originally I was going to choose a jean skirt that was a bit closer to the characters jean shorts, but honestly it looked pretty mid. The skirt felt closer to her scene roots and I added a wallet chain to give some visual interest. Her backpack is the one that came with the Ghoulia scooter set. It's not movie accurate or anything, but she needed some sort of accessory to round her out. I might change it once I rewatch the movie and get a better feel for her personality, but for now it's great.

For her face I honestly chose to not recreate it as accurately as I could because Clair doesn't really have eyelashes? I chose to not bring the black eye makeup up to her brow because I think this doll would look really awful without visible eyelashes. Since I used a Rave'n Wednesday dolls as a base I didn't have to do anything to the lips or nails which was absolutely a plus. I honestly don't think I'd recommend the doll if you had to buy her new, but since I was able to get her second hand it totally worked out.

Orginally her labret piercing was just a dot of silver paint, but I found out that nail art dots make for great doll piercings and come in a wide variety of sizes.

I used the pearls in this set to replace a few printed on pearl buttons and the silver and gold bearings for piercings!

It looks way better than the silver paint and makes it look more like an international piercing rather than a random dot on her chin

I'm all I'm super excited to finally have a Clair doll that looks pretty nice if I'm being honest. She was really easy to do and would be really easy to recreate if anyone else wanted to. A majority of the items she's wearing are stock, maybe kind of hard to get if anything.

hiiii im thinking of an AU where the Winx are MH characters n their story is adapted to the MH worldbuinding

Winx as Monsters

Bloom - Dragon (*EAH, lost dragon princess)

Stella - Alien (*EAH, comet alien?)

Aisha - Sea Monster

Flora - Haunted Tree

Musa - Ghost (***died w family, mom's only missing ghost)

Icy, Darcy, Stormy - normies, monster hunters (**)

Faragonda - Witch, MH principal (**)

Roxy - Werewolf (***living as a normie)

Mirta - Pumpkin Head (***living as normie)

Im still thinkng about Miele (i kinda want her to be a bee lol), Dafne (ofc a dragon too, but how do I tie in the sirenix stuff? like, water dragon??), Selina (thinking "normie-wanna be-witch"?) and the pixies(who i hate)

*Story Adjustments

(*) EAH & Domino

To try n keep the main characters dramas/plots, I thought it might be interesting to play with the EAH cross over too.

I though Bloom could be a lost "dragon princess" or something, with Domino being changed to EAH world. She would not know this initially, but have it revealed maybe by Stella, who could take Astranova's place as "random alien cross over character", since the comet/star theming can easily translate to her.

Aisha's sea monster family would be related to siren/mermaids (to rework the "sirenix" plot); so she could have an EAH connection too.

(**) Witches in Winx Vs MH

To adapt the Trix rivarly, i was thinking that instead of witches they could be "monster hunter" normies. They could keep powers by using talismans? I was thinking Griffin's character could be that she is a normie teacher that keeps an after-school activity/course about the paranormal. The Wizards of the Black Circle could also be monster hunters in this AU.

I like the idea of Faragonda being MH's headmissterss, but I wanted her to be a witch. I know this might feel contradicting since like, witches are THE OPPOSITE of winx, but since i'm turning Cloud Tower into a normie extracurricual class rather than a school, I thought it might work? I also kinda like that it references the theory Faragonda used to be a witch before being a fairy (cuz they said her n Griffin went to school together). I think it could be cool if here it was that she used to be friends with Griffin as a "normie", but was secretly a witch/later became one. (***)

(***) Normie-to-Monster

In general i kinda like to play with the idea of normies turning into monsters/viceversa to help adjust stuff from winx to MH.

To keep Musa's story with her mom I like the idea she was a normie who died w her family and they all became a ghosts. Except her mom, her soul didn't show up in the after life. She's just gone :(

Roxy's story I imagine being that she's a werewolf living among normies. I like to think she hasn't unlocked her werewolf form, so she doesn't know.

I would also like Mirta's story of going witch-to-fairy to be adapted into her being a headless girl (like MH-Bloodgood) posing as a human at the Griffin's school/course. She would join MH after the Trix discover this n hide her head, forcing her to wear a pumpkin. Then the (monster)Winx would help retriving her head.

*I'll update yall when i flash this out more after a super winx bingewatch, lol🩷
