So um.

Can anyone recommend any viable Tumblr alternatives for Ask The Cookies?

Legitimate question. I mean, I know I could probably just nuke the Cayenne side blog and just tone down… whatever I’m doing with the actual story arcs and be mostly fineish. That isn’t a concern. The concern is where are you guys going.

I assume few people are using Tumblr especifically to catch up on the Cookie adventures, soooo a mass exodus of people over Tumblr staff massively misreading their user base is going to be a problem, even for SFW content.

There’s also the thing where I don’t feel comfortable rewarding whatever dumb-ass decisions Tumblr Staff is making by keeping the blog running here.

Problem is, it’s pretty hard to do an Ask Blog outside of Tumblr, as it is. Like, the whole concept fits the Tumblr UI and features too well. I don’t think I can do something like this on, say, Twitter (Which I also would rather not use, tbh), or FA, or whatever. I mean worst case scenario I’ll work around it, but y’know.

So, yeah, asking for suggestions here. Because we’re two weeks away from this and I’m drawing a blank here.

Well, I saw one person mention WordPress. I’m not sure what their guidelines and limitations are however. We have two weeks to figure something out.

Understanding Chronic Illnesses: Spoonies and Unchargeables.

Understanding and explaining how having a chronic illness affects the lives of those who suffer from them.

Not to be more of an ass then normal. I am well aware of the spoons theory, the problem I have with the spoons theory is that it is a self focused way of describing living with chronic pain. What it does very well is give people who understand it a way to understand where you are are at anytime. What it doesn’t do is take into consideration other people’s need for spoons.

My wife has a chronic illness a couple of them in fact, so I regularly hear I have no more spoons or I don’t have enough spoons.

On the other hand I am “Perfectly healthy,and don’t know what it is like to be in constant pain all the time” which means that I must magically be able to handle everything else because I don’t need spoons.

If that was the case then why am I always drained to the point of having no spoons.

I tend to look at it like a keg of beer, most of the time you can get through the day with only needing to pull one pitcher of beer. That pitcher is then used to pour all the glasses you need for the day. Sometime you need to pull a little extra from the keg, sometimes it is just a glass, sometimes it is another full pitcher.

The problem is that in the end you still are going to run out it just takes longer to empty a keg then it does to empty a glass or a pitcher, but unlike a glass or pitcher you can’t always replace an empty keg by yourself and sometimes you can’t always get the same size keg.

Normally my keg is a big keg, but it has been running on empty for a very long time and I don’t have any help to replace it. Worse is that lately I haven’t been able to get a mini-keg.

Spoon theory applies to everyone.

So I got motor trend on demand as I like Roadkill and it is no longer on youtube.

So I watch the first episode of Roadkill Garage and one of the hosts describes the car they are going to work on a cougar as basically a mustang but then says “it’s like the uglier version of a popular model”.

My very first thought as soon as he said that was “that is pretty much true in the bar as well”.
