Brat Melkor I will always love you, you utter menace
Give me your Eru character Design or Give Me DeATH!!!
It's already nearly impossible for me to do Valar designs and now I'm ask to imagine literally GOD?? I don't know, I mostly imagine him as a bright light that shows the light spectrum, not really in a humanoid shape.

My very humble contribution to @angbangweek... I originally should have had it out for day 1 for the Reunion prompt, but I suppose I can have it posted for the day 6 Separation prompt instead... That just means I'm not late, right? ...right?
Anyway this is a 18+ and NSFT Angbang fic with bottom Melkor. Since tumblr refuses to generate a true preview and this one doesn't show the warnings, please see them inside the link itself as well as the note in the beginning.
Mother's day doodle ??? Me with my special turnip baby I stole.
Can I offer you some bottom Melkor in these trying times?

"Manwe knew of Sauron, of course" is a line I absolutely adore. Because yes, Manwe would have known of Sauron due to the scale of Mairon's participation in Melkor's plans. And we know that Manwe tried to give a chance to all beings to follow Eru. But I also can't help seeing that line in the context of Manwe being aware of the one person that his brother trusted more than anyone else.
Manwe would have probably given Sauron the choice to repent and rehabilitate anyway, because that's just who Manwe is as a person. But even in Numenor, Manwe could have reached out to Eru earlier to ask for permission to act. But he went for warning shots with his lightning. He gave Sauron one more chance at a point when he did not deserve any.
I love imagining that these were the choices of a younger brother who felt guilty for how things ended up with his older brother, and therefore he tried to do right by the one person that Melkor seemed to be close to.
I believe Melkor had a soft side that he kept hidden, but not because he saw it as a weakness or a vulnerability, but because he saw it as private, as intimate. He would not waste his softness on anyone less than his most trusted, his most beloved.
Which meant Mairon was the only one who ever truly saw and felt Melkorâs softness and then it was only when they were alone. Not that Melkor didât acknowledge him in public, but any tenderness was only shown with no one to see it.
The Silmarillion states â[ManwĂ«] did not perceive that all love had departed from [Melkor] for everâ, but I say none knew of Melkorâs love for Mairon for he kept it hidden in the depths of his heart, where even ManwĂ« âsaw notâ. Mairon was precious to him, the only one he ever actually loved, and Melkor could never let anyone know the true depths of this save Mairon himself. Because no one else deserved to witness this private, intimate part of Melkor except Mairon.
Iâve been seeing a lot of Angbang fluff (which I adore) and whilst I know a romantic relationship between Melkor and Mairon isnât stated in canon, it also canât be ruled out of canon either. The Silmarillion was written by elves after all and they had one main view of Melkor (which was basically he was evil) and that is the one that is portrayed in the histories, so we only see one side of the tales.
To me, Melkor appeared heartless to his enemies because he had no heart for them; it was all reserved for his lieutenant.
Melkor: I love you. Mairon: You probably say that to everyone. Melkor: Yes. Mairon: WHAT DO YOU MEAN "YES"?! Melkor: I do tell everyone that I love you ^_^
Not only did Mairon forge his One Ring in Melkorâs volcano, but it was also literally "the heart of his realm" and the place where he felt most powerful. Oh, the angbang propaganda is right there for anyone with eyes to see đđđ
Part of an older artwork i did.. I got really inspired by a wonderful fanfic i read (Loyalty Unyielding - by Zlu and Luff)
Canto IX of the Lay of Leithian breaks my heart a little, in the sense that it pains me to read in such a poetic manner about Sauron being afraid of Melkor and being pushed to break his master's trust:
'0 demon dark, 0 phantom vile of foulness wrought, of lies and guile, here shalt thou die, thy spirit roam quaking back to thy master's home his scorn and fury to endure; thee he will in the bowels immure of groaning earth, and in a hole everlastingly thy naked soul shall wail and gibber - this shall be, unless the keys thou render me of thy black fortress, and the spell that bindeth stone to stone thou tell, and speak the words of opening.' With gasping breath and shuddering he spake, and yielded as he must, and vanquished betrayed his master's trust.
It is interesting to me, that Sauron specifically yielded so that his physical form would not be destroyed, but in the Nature of Middle-earth it's noted:
But the first destruction of the bodily form of Sauron was recorded in the histories of the Elder Days, in the Lay of Leithian.
This note probably ties to this version of the Lay, where Sauron (when he escapes as a vampire), quite literally leaves back his body:
A vampire shape with pinions vast screeching leaped from the ground, and passed, its dark blood dripping on the trees; and Huan neath him lifeless sees a wolvish corpse - for Thu had flown to Taur-na-Fuin, a new throne and darker stronghold there to build.
This contradicts the published Silm, in which Sauron yields specifically to avoid his bodily destruction. But it also introduces the idea that he does not JUST escape to Taur-nu-Fuin, but he intends to build and establish a stronghold (presumably wanting to have something to show to Melkor as substitute for what he lost).
Beren and Luthien steal a Silmaril from Morgoth's crown.đ
I wanted to represent the scene with my style, it's probably a bit unusual concept (to see them like thisđ ), but Melkor is a fairly complex character and I like to give him a bit of humanity and fragility relegating him to the role of Vala decayed.
the wip that got me out of art block đ
