"Hey. Uh. You know a lot about the supernatural, right..?"
âYeah. I mean, a fair amount. I know the most about cryptozoology in my organization- if you want something else I could always direct you to another agent. Nessie is pretty good at dealing with spellsâŠâÂ
âNot the first time I heard of kids being turned into trees, actually. Iâm assuming he is a kid?â He squinted at the lantern.
âTypically these sorts of spirits donât target adults. Dunno if thatâs just âcause they are less gullible, or if they donât work for this sort of magic. Do you know where this lantern is?âÂ
âLast I saw it, it was buried in the snow, in the Unknown..â He paused, rubbing his shoulder. âIâm fairly sure its limbo. But. Itâs really hard to determine if those things are actually trueâŠ.âÂ
He paused again for a moment, flipping through the pages to a polaroid of a lake. âI fell into that lake, found myself wandering through the Unknown. No memory of how I got there. I wasnât wet. Just..there.âÂ
âDoes sound like a variation of limbo. People tend to perceive near death experiences differently though⊠so it might be more of a spirit trap. A sort of closed space that draws in spirits on their way out. Thatâs all speculation on my part though.â He stood, pocketing his hands.
âIf it is still stalking you though, then that means something is still tethering you to that closed space. The only way to break the connection would probably be going back.â
A cold chill went down Wirts spine and he bit his lip, gripping his knees and looking up. Go back? âI almost died,â He said softly. âIâm still not sure how or why we even got back.....â He looked up at Dib, a mixture of fear and hope on his face. âBut if it would rid me of the Beast......and this time I wouldnât have to worry about Greg. You know what youâre doing, Weâd be safe....at least I hope. Right?â
