I am also terrible and just came on to say sorry for being terrible
( I intend to give a good friend a surprise. I need your help to do this. They’re an amazing roleplayer no one wants to rp with and frankly I feel like people are missing out on how amazing they are. I’d appreciate it a lot if you’d go follow
@forshovelry
and make em feel at home. they deserve so much interaction and you guys won’t be disappointed.)

“Well-”
Which was the start of a very long winded explanation, normally. Better buckle down Gaz- he even brought a map.
“I was thinking we could travel south, and then back up northwest- we can hit the most locations that way. Alien crash sites, and cryptid hotspots mostly… I really want to see if I can catch a Wendigo on film this time- sorta getting tired of seeing Bigfoot variants all the time. I mean, they’re nice enough folk, but you know…” He murmured the last word, looking even more excited while looking over the map of marks and stapled-on print outs.
“Anything you wanna see on the way? If it’s not that far off we could take a few days going wherever.”
“I just wanna go to cool places to eat,” she opened an eye. She couldn’t believe he actually had a fucking map.
How embarrassing.
“How’re we gonna get the cats in the cat carriers? Smoosh runs away, and Grumpy is…grumpy.” She reached into the Lazy Susan for a box of cereal, and into the fridge for some milk and an apple.
“You’re the one who wanted to bring them to begin with. Figured you’d be able to get them in the carriers. They listen to you better then me” He squinted at the look she gave him, holding his map a little defensively. He liked his map.
“Don’t see why we’d have to lock them up anyways. Might enjoy looking outside during the drive.”
“It’s a good theory. Knobby just showed up in recent years, after all- never really asked him how long he has been living in Cleveland.” Dib, of course, couldn’t help but to peer over at the book.
“They are solitary, so I always assumed he just moved out there to get away from other populations of Sasquatch.”

It was... rare, to hear anything good from the alien. It made Dib blink owlishly, opening his mouth to say something, but closing it again. Probably just an accusation of Zim being sarcastic- but it didn’t seem to be the case.
“T... Thanks.” What else was there to say?
“I’ve been gathering parts for a while now, so we should be able to make the upgrades without an issue... what sort of things did you bring with you?” He was curious about what ideas Zim had, after all.

“Sup, wriggla?”
“Wriggla?”
“Ya know, a kid, I guess. Ya humans don’t know shit about propa terms.”
“Yeah, well, not exactly a wealth of information being circulated for us to see. Do I really look like a kid to you though?”
“Everyone’s a kid to me. I’m hundreds a’ sweeps old.”
“Well, guess it’d be hypocritical of me to tell you to do otherwise.
Everyone is a kid to me too.”
"Hey. Uh. You know a lot about the supernatural, right..?"
“Yeah. I mean, a fair amount. I know the most about cryptozoology in my organization- if you want something else I could always direct you to another agent. Nessie is pretty good at dealing with spells…”
“I was thinking more of going there alone. No offence to you of course- I just know I am more.... durable then the average human. You survived the first trip in, but I can’t promise you’ll get as lucky twice...” He trailed off, putting a hand over his mouth, seeming concerned.
“It is tethered to you though. I am well into adulthood at this point- would it even reveal itself to me?” More thinking aloud at this point, but he still looked to Wirt for his opinion.

"Wriggla?"
“Dude, it’s fine. I am sure you’ll have too much facial hair to handle soon.”
“Yeah. Probably.” He shifted his weight, far more chipper. “A regular sasquatch. That is, if they didnt live in northern pacific regions and maintained a solitary lifestyle.” A pause. Way to dweeb out, wirt.
“Or. probably something like that.”
"Not necessarily! I know a cryptid in Cleaveland named Knobby- he is practically a sasquatch."

Zim was talking longer then Dib had previously anticipated- which means he hardly had much done by the time his doorbell rang. Worry of the other backing out, of leaving without even saying goodbye saw to that.
Didn’t stop him from rushing to the garage door though, opening it up just enough to peek out and usher the Irken in.
“I, uh, haven’t gotten that far into it yet. Had to run to the store for some energy drinks.” A lie, but a harmless one.
Zim waved a hand, pushing an agitated tone so he’d have something he was used to. “Yes, yes! I didn’t expect you to have the whole thing done by now.” he snipped, still not as venomous as he wanted to sound.
Zim looked around the garage, tired, disguised eyes taking it in. He’d been in here a few times before but.. this might be the last time he got to see it.. “..ehh, what have you got so far? We’ll only need minor adjustments on the ship but I’d like to see the work you’ve done yourself.” he offered warmly, setting his own blueprints and irken tech on the workbench. He was actually really excited to see Dib’s efforts and it definitely showed through his voice, he sounded more normal right now. At least to him.
"Oh. Well. Uh." Dib fidgeted. It was weird how much of a difference it made to be just sharing his work with the other, and not simply gloating about it.
Moving over to the nearly-covered workbench, he motioned to some blueprints.
"Irken ships are way too small for human occupants, so I've been figuring out how to expand it without losing much in the way of performance efficiency. Mostly just considerations into aerodynamics and maybe a more efficient way of transferring the fuel." He sat on the stool, pulling open some diagrams that showed a newly-worked fuel injector.
"Hey. Uh. You know a lot about the supernatural, right..?"
“Yeah. I mean, a fair amount. I know the most about cryptozoology in my organization- if you want something else I could always direct you to another agent. Nessie is pretty good at dealing with spells…”
“Not the first time I heard of kids being turned into trees, actually. I’m assuming he is a kid?” He squinted at the lantern.
“Typically these sorts of spirits don’t target adults. Dunno if that’s just ‘cause they are less gullible, or if they don’t work for this sort of magic. Do you know where this lantern is?”
“Last I saw it, it was buried in the snow, in the Unknown..” He paused, rubbing his shoulder. “I’m fairly sure its limbo. But. It’s really hard to determine if those things are actually true….”
He paused again for a moment, flipping through the pages to a polaroid of a lake. “I fell into that lake, found myself wandering through the Unknown. No memory of how I got there. I wasn’t wet. Just..there.”
"Does sound like a variation of limbo. People tend to perceive near death experiences differently though... so it might be more of a spirit trap. A sort of closed space that draws in spirits on their way out. That's all speculation on my part though." He stood, pocketing his hands.
"If it is still stalking you though, then that means something is still tethering you to that closed space. The only way to break the connection would probably be going back."
