Celtic Gods and Goddess

The Celtic world included Ireland, Britain, and a large section of the mainland

Aine: Goddess of love and fertility; encouraged human love; has command over crops and animals; daughter of Eogabail  

Amaethon: God of agriculture 

Anu or Danu/Dana: Mother goddess 

Aonghus: God of love; son of Dagda and Boann

Badb: Irish goddess of battle; could influence the outcome of conflict by inspiring fear or bravery in warriors

Balor: The one-eyed god of death, everyone he looked upon was destroyed

Belenus or Bel: Sun god; appears throughout the Celtic world in different forms; Beltaine celebrates him 

Boann: Water goddess; mother of Aonghus

Brigantia: Chief goddess of Brigantes tribe; associated with water, war and healing

Brigid/Brigit: Goddess of healing and fertility; said to help women during labor; possibly same goddess as Brigantia 

Camulos: God of war mostly worshiped in Belgium areas; said to wield an invincible sword

Ceridwen: Goddess of fertility

Cernunnos: God of wild animals, forest, and plenty; possibly also the god of death; known as the horned one

Cliodhna: Goddess of beauty; her three birds could sing the sick to sleep and heal them 

Dagda: The great god; could restore the dead to life

Basic Crystals for Every Witch 💎

This is by no means all encompassing, but as someone who specializes in crystals, I can say that these are the most basic stones that every witch will want in their supplies.

Clear Quartz🌟 - This crystal can be used for literally anything and is very easy to program with your intent. Stock up on this stone because it can be used in replacement of any crystal in a spell. It is also a great stone to use if you really want to give your will a big boost, because clear quartz amplifies everything. And the best part is if you’re worried about your local crystal shops sources, you can find this stone naturally in just about any creek bed that has gravel patches.

Rose Quartz💘 - The stone of love of yourself and others. This is another handy stone to have because not only can it help encourage self-esteem, but it can bring love your way. Familial, platonic, or romantic. It won’t discriminate based on what you want or need.

Amethyst🔮 - A great stone to use if you’re looking for inner peace in your life. This stone brings about a soothing environtment and helps to keep you calm and collected. And for any aspiring psychics out there, this is the perfect stone to start training your third eye. Good for any spell where raw spiritual energy is needed.

Smokey Quartz⛰ - A really good stone to keep you grounded and connected to the psyichal plane in times of high stress. It takes negative energy and cleanses it before releasing it back into the world. Placing it at the feet opens a protective circle.

Hematite⚔️ - A good stone to use if you have issues with anger. It can help promote level headed thinking, especially in times of stress. Also a very good protection stone, carrying it in your pocket creates a ward/barrier around yourself to keep out negativity.

Sunstone☀️ - A great stone for those struggling with depression, or having a lot of self worth issues (!!this does not replace a doctor and medicine!!)) Its the stone of the sun and brings with it happiness and joy.

Moonstone🌕 - A stone of great love and sympathy, is helps foster positive energies and emotions. Bringing you closer to your feminine side, this is the stone of the moon. Also another good stone for those aspirings psychics!

Labradorite✨ - My absolute favorite stone that’s great from beginners because it can help light your path in the craft. It can bring you inspiration and helps you think outside the box.

Sodalite📚 - The stone of logic and intuition. A very good piece to have for all the baby witches and students, because it can keep you focused when researching and studying. Can also aid in soothing a panick attack.

Turquoise💊 - This is a very good general healing stone, and good to have for my healers out there. (!!this does not replace a doctor or medicine!!)) It can also help bring friendship.

Pyrite⚡️ - Not only a good stone to use if you’re looking to bring wealth to yourself or home, but great if you’re feeling sluggish in the morning this stone can help give you a little energy to start the day.

Working on a collection of hedge witch meditations….

Here’s the intro…what do y’all think?

Welcome, witches. You probably already have an idea on hedge witchcraft since you are here, reading this small book. But maybe my words can inspire you further into this side of the Craft. Witchcraft is a certain kind of magic, Western influenced mostly, relying on the four elements at times, at times with or without gods, with a bond to the natural world and a connection to the sparks between the silent spaces. We manipulate the magic around us, through ritual or intention, spirit help and even science. Manipulating the world around us with a quick influence over what we do have control over, that is our magic.

Hedge witches are the ones that live at the edges of society and the norms of culture. We’re a little weird, seeing things that aren’t there, playing with societal expectations, diving deep into the meaning of things, diving deep into the spirit world and the astral realm. In this way, the practice is a bit similar to shamanic journeying and study into that will aide our own travels.

There are plenty of silent spaces within ourselves. That is why this book is subtitled, Traveling Within. As a hedge witch, you are a worlds traveler, not just this one, but the one within yourself, the one within others, the one that makes up our collective unconscious. I love the concept of the collective unconscious. Now every culture and group of people might have a different collective of ideas, stories and symbols, but it still is a large group that knows Red Riding Hood, princess fairy tales, Greek myths, the color of anger and the wind of rage. Art adds to this collection, pop culture reinforces, and we share these big archetypes with each other, manipulate them, change them even. We will be traveling through the symbols of our own, our culture and this bigger collective. It’s already there, beneath the surface of our conscious thoughts, and they are still influencing us. Might as well dive in and see them for what they are and understand how they influence us, and how we can influence them.

More on Freya

Freya helps us to get in touch with our emotions. She is said to be able to see the future and was a Goddess of magic and divination. She helps us to accomplish our goals, or do something we’ve been longing to do for sometime. She is also a warrior Goddess and can give us strength and courage. Call on Freya when you need to get in touch with your emotions, or if you have trouble doing nice things for yourself. Freya reminds us to love ourselves as well as others. Sometimes we are too busy taking care of and loving others, that we forget to love and take care of ourselves. She is there to remind us to never forget ourselves. On your altar to Freya, have representations of cats, rose or sandalwood incense, stones of amber, jade or moonstone and candle colors of red, silver or black or a combination of all three.

Drawing Sigils: My Way

 My sigils are basically just a variant of the Witch’s Sigil Wheel. I’ve just added my own flare to it. If you don’t know what that is, it’s this thing, you kind find pictures of it on google pretty easy.

The first thing you’re gonna want to do is come up with your phrase. This will set the sigils intention. We’re gonna use the phrase “The Earth keeps me safe” for this example. Once you’ve got that figured out, pick out the words that are most important to you. We’re going to use “Earth” and “Safe” as our keywords.

(note: traditionally letters that are doubled are taken out, and only single appearing letters make the points.)

Next thing you’re gonna do, is draw lines from one letter to the next. You’ll be making separate lines for each word. Feel free to curve some of these lines, but i think it looks like a mountain or a crystal so we’re gonna keep it c:

And then the next word.

This is really starting to look like a crystal in my eyes! Now it’s time to add some flare. One thing I like to do is add circles around letters that have multiple points on them. And I add crossing lines to any other line that doesn’t have an angle or connection.

To really long lines, I like to add another line parallel to it.

The last part, make it personal! Add some sort of your own flare to it.

I played around with the crystal idea that I was getting, and added things to make it look sparkling and an arrow in the middle to represent protection. 

Lastly I like to keep my sigils in circles, but feel free to skip this step and call it done! Here’s what I came up with!
