You’d be a complete life saver. And I’d honestly be forever grateful.”

“yeah... i think so.” she said, pausing to slide her bag off her shoulder and shuffle through some papers. “i apologize in advance for my handwriting,” she joked, “it’s basically cursive chicken scratch.” she finally located the long sheet of parchment. “there we go! a little creased but.. hey, it gets the job done.”

she smiled underneath the layers of fabric, unknown to anyone else. she raised an eyebrow. of course she’d heard of the passages, almost a gryffindor legend at this point. “okay, i’m down. how exactly do you propose we find these passageways?”

jo snickered, imagining the scenario. “it’s a good read, you can borrow it if you’d like. i’ve read it a thousand times, at least.”

Asher nodded in agreement, thinking back to some of the wildest authors he had ever read works of; simply, the ‘normal’ ones were the most BORING ones. “Sure, or they’re shared with the world postmortem – but that’s not much fun, and kind of more of an artist’s take to fame,” he explained. “Wait, let me back-track for a moment, Most writing is worth reading; I could go a lifetime or two without having to read some of those second-year essays. Even some of those are not worth salvaging.”

The way in which the girl talked of CONFIDENCE was intriguing to Asher; he had experienced the over-confident, the under-confident, and everything in between, but yet he had never made the link between it and sharing writing. Perhaps it was naive of him to think this way, but he had never really cared if others had really enjoyed what he wrote – not that many people had ever read it in the first place – but found that his writing was always something he did for HIMSELF, not for others. “Writing, you mean?” Asher scratched his head. “It’ll come in due time; I don’t like to rush brilliance.” His tone was comedic, as was the wink that followed.

she chuckled. “yeah, well i can’t really cont on someone diggin’ up my old works when i’m gone.” she stated. “you’re absolutely right.” she said, a whining tone in the back of her voice, recounting how many times first or second years have asked her to go over their essays, making her want to bang her head on a wall. 

the way he portrayed brilliance as if it were inevitable made josephine wonder. she always strived for brilliance, often sounding too philosophical in her writings because of it. she never thought it would really come. at least, not in the normal way per-say. brilliance was always something she strived to achieve, but knew she never would. it’s something saved for the poe’s and the shakespeare’s of the world. not the everhart’s. “writing, yes. i usually can’t have a conversation with someone else abut it without boring them to death.” she shrugged.

“Why thank you, I’m glad if the whole ministry thing doesn’t work out, MODELING could be a back-up career,” he joked, though the sound of plans for his future, as always, sent an unwanted shiver up his back. He didn’t like to admit it to many people, but Julian often felt scared for what was to come in his life after Hogwarts. He had become too accustomed to the leisurely life here, he didn’t know what to expect afterward. “I dunno, just overheard some girls talking about it before class one day. Don’t really know what it means,” he admitted with a chuckle. “Huh?” He asked, but it wasn’t a moment before he realized what she meant. He had probably the WORST case of bed hair imaginable.

she smiled, glad she had a friend who could joke back and forth with her. a lot of people at hogwarts, especially some of her friends, look things very literally. and it was hard to having a joking conversation without someone getting offended when josephine was being sarcastic, and they didn’t pick up on it. she shrugged, smile still evident. “well, we’d better go. breakfast is soon and i think there are going to be croissants again. i could eat 20 of those things.” she said, standing up and offering a hand to her friend.

“brooooo-!” the american born wizard yelled, sounding like his skater counterparts back in the states as the black substance saturated his favorite khaki shorts– served him right for wearing them in the dead of winter. “it looks like i shit the black lake.” he deadpanned, completely serious.

she had her mouth agape, ready to apologize more but she couldn’t help it. after hearing the american accent, finally happy to hear one similar to hers, and then the deadpanned look on his face, she busted into a fit of laughter. “i’ll...  replace your -- pants.” she said trying to get a few words in in between her laughs.

her ears perked up at the familiar phrase. racking her brain to try and find where it was from. she saw the other student reciting it from a fairy tale, intrigued immediately. “you know, i think i’ve read that one too.”

                 just because you can draw, doesn’t mean you were born to be an artist. that’s what her sister had told her &. life had taught her. there were many people at hogwarts who were as artistically talented as they were insufferable. did it mean she should stop painting? no. but it did mean she kept that part of her hidden, save fore the little sketches made in marker on banisters &. desks. sure, they might be able to trace them back to her one day, but no one seemed to care enough to do that sort of thing. fine by her; sometimes the imagery was just too vivid in her mind to keep confined. the things she conjured wished to move down her spine; through her pretty, little fingers. it just so happened that the creativity was strong today, with all that happened over break. she’d made a new enemy; &. perhaps someone who she couldn’t call a friend, but also didn’t despise entirely. how does one put that into art, anyway? bri sat in the corridor, bundled up in her coat &. big, fuzzy scarf that covered all but a pink nose &. those eyes that were lit with inspiration. her ungloved hands moved over fresh parchment &. so fast that you’d think the quill was enchanted. the crunch of snow underneath footsteps causes bri to look up, startled. she’d lost track of time, that much was inevitable. she almost looked human with the bewildered stare she gave her company, instead of the usual ferocious glare. ‘ you … you scared me. ’

josephine had this bad habit. she had a bad habit of getting lost in her own thoughts and just wandering, especially outside around the castle. the cold air, while chilling her to the bones, left her ind blank enough to think. there were so many ideas she had floating around, stories poems, even novel beginnings. but she never had much time anymore. she found herself still picking up more books instead of more quills, choosing to spend her time collecting more knowledge on literature than making her own. writer’s block. it sucked. 

so instead of doing her homework, like she should be doing, she decided to take a short walk... which turned into a long one, which turned into her accidentally walking in on another student working. “oh, god. sorry. didn’t mean to scare you.” she said, breath coming out in visual huffs. “it’s freezing out here. why aren’t you inside?” she didn’t know why she was suddenly showing an odd compassion for the girl, blame it on the cold.

I learned that the hard way. ” Declan said holding up a glove which now had a large hole near the thumb. “ He loves to steal this and I thought that I should do something about it and see what happened. my lucky glove is RUINED. I kind of hope that in my last hours I’m brought here so when I die I can haunt this place and start a war with Peeves. ”

“oh trust me. i know.” she said with somewhat of a tone of disdain, remembering countless times she ‘tripped’ down the stairs or her stuff happened to of gone missed or got shredded, the poltergeist looking especially guilty that day “lucky glove?” she questioned. “sounds like a peeves thing to do.” she said, immediately greeted by another load crash from the room.

she smiled, taking the scarf from him gently and wrapping it around her own, not feeling as bad of a chill. “thanks.” she responded. “now what adventures are we talking about here?”

          demi grinned crookedly as she spoke, nodding slowly before humming in content, “ i’m rather AWAKE, weird, right? ” the ravenclaw grew intrigued by the other’s book and gestured rather oddly to the piece of literature, “ is it a page-turner? ”

“awake is a step in the right direction.” she grinned, putting her bookmark in place before offering it to the other student to look at. “it’s good, it’s called ‘the secret garden’. my dad sent it in to me.” she said, crossing her legs.

Julian appreciated a student who could quickly respond to his rather ABSURD jokes with humor of her own; he laughed out loud, not even trying to picture what his face on the cover of a magazine would look like. “Cover of witch weekly?” He repeated, shaking his head. “I’d probably need a lot more make-up than this, my complexion is awful.” Truthfully, he hadn’t the FAINTEST idea if his words were true, he simply mimicked what he had overheard several girls say before class. “Thanks, I appreciate it – that is, if I don’t end up passing out up here again. Dunno how that even happened, actually.”

“oh yeah. totally cover material.” she continuously joked, her laugh subsiding. “your complexion?” she questioned with the raise of her eyebrow, a grin evident. “lost track of time i’m guessing.” she inquired, sitting down next to him after retrieving the note ranger held in his beak.she opened it quickly and read over the small piece of parchment before quickly pocketing it. “might need to find a sink... and a mirror before going out to the public.”
