It gets really tiring to constantly feel like the friend that's on the outside
Great Pretender is a 10/10 anime and that ending omg...
I just finished Run with the Wind and wow what a stunning anime with a perfect ending!
I love Sumi SO MUCH and i can't wait for another season of rent a gf
Wow, I'm so fucking sick of being let down
Rent a GF is so cute help and the theme tune is a banger
A Look at: Free! Dive to the Future
(Spoilers ahead)
I adored this season, I felt it really showed some complexity in our main characters, mostly Haru. Of course it was sad to have less Nagisa and Rei content but it is to be expected with so many new additions to the cast. It really feels like the show is growing with its viewers into more serious territory. This theme of the darker aspect of competition and sport started in Eternal Summer with Sousuke's injury and made a reappearance in the form of Haru's new coach.
It is revealed toward the end of the series that Ryuji went to a swim competition instead of visiting a friend who had been hospitalised. We are not told what happens to the friend but personally my guess is that he died as after this Ryuji quits swimming altogether. Opting to try and find balance in his life by coaching instead of competing. It is hinted here that he may be protecting Haru from the obsession that comes with living as a competitor. I think he is not so much trying to steer Haru in either direction but simply give him the tools to decide whether this life is what he wants.
Makoto decides he wants to become a coach, a wonderful storyline for him although I find it somewhat sad that he doesn't get to compete with his peers. However, this is realistic! Sport is a tough industry and it is reasonable that not everyone can make the cut.
Rin is seemingly doing well, he's found a good balance and no longer has a Haru obsession haha. He ends the show beating the qualifying time for the world (Olympics I think) so we know we can expect to see Rin in future competitions.
Rei and Nagisa, my angels. They seem to be doing great and both got to compete at the all Japan Tokyo thing! Neither qualified to go further but both are hopeful for next year. We have two additions to the swim team too who aren't completely fleshed out characters but have had small storylines. Definitely potential for us to see them in the future.
Sousuke has an interesting story this series! He's healing his shoulder and finally decides to go through with an operation that could make or break his career. Thank GOD it's a success and we recieve the news alongside Rin who tears up, classic Rin.
Ikuya and Hiyori (Tono) have given an interesting and dramatic dynamic. Including one of the tensest confrontations since THAT Rin and Haru scene or THAT Rin and Sousuke scene.
The heat was intense I have to say and they make for an interesting pair. They also helped the show explore obsessive bonds and how with a shift these can become something healthy and supportive. Tono was somewhat this seasons 'bad guy' to start with a similar story to Rin in the earlier seasons. His swimming revolved around an obsession with a talented 'friend' but he is brilliant in the water and learned to step back. Finally feeling more secure in his and Ikuya's friendship. We do see this idea of jealousy or dare I say love triangle (maybe admiration triangle) Similar to what we see between Rin, Makoto and Haru in season one. Ikuya's admiration of Haru creates some jealousy but this is eventually cleared up.
Predictions for Free's Future
So what do I think will happen with Free! Next? At the end of the series there was a message 'See you in 2020' but unfortunately due to an arson attack on Kyoto Animation, things have been pushed back. Online buzz says that Free! Will be back this year with the planned new season and movie. I for one cannot wait to see what happens next, we ended on the steepest of cliffhangers with Haru, Rin, Ikuya (I want to say Tono and someone else too) competing in a finale race against eachother.
I predict Haru will win this race, he has to to compete on the world stage. It may not happen quite yet but I expect us to see Makoto as Haru's coach in the future. He's already shown that no one knows Haru better than him and though right now he is set to coach children, with the pressures of the world stage Haru will likely rely on Makoto heavily for support. I think Rei and Nagisa may have a bigger part next season, they should be going off to university perhaps even tokyo together! I know fans will have missed their content so I expect we will see new rivalries for them as they enter the stage that Haru and Rin have been at this season. Sousuke will be healing his shoulder so it wouldn't surprise me if he's back in competition with Rin by the time our next season comes. This season has set up some sort of 'villains' in Albert (less a villian more just talented) and the other guy who's name I forget.
This other guy seems somewhat unhinged. I couldn't help but notice that creepy smile while he swam, I think he's set to be our real villain next season. But as we all know Free villains never stay villians for long so I'm excited to see what his arc will be.
All in all can't WAIT for the next season of free which was originally titled 'Summer Olympics 2020' now I'm guessing its 2021 š
Just finished dive to the future so I might write a whole essay/review of Free!
I came off the pill a while ago and I just knew my cycle would start on the full moon and sure enough my period started today...
Smudging and CulturalĀ Appropriation
OK. So in the pagan/new age/wiccan world a VERY popular thing is smudging. BUT THIS SHIT IS CULTURAL APPROPRIATION.
NOW THAT SAID: There are smoke cleansing rituals in MANY different cultures worldwide. It is because of this that many wiccans/pagans can get mixed up⦠Like I did.Ā
I knew that Celtic Pagans of old used smoke from burning dried herbs to cleanse areas of negative energy, and since smudge sticks are EVERYWHERE in wiccan books, stores, websites, blogs etc. and a lot of Wicca is influenced by anglo-celtic pagans, I thought that it was something that the Aboriginal people and the Pagans had in common.
I WAS VERY WRONG. See while the Celtic Pagans would SOMETIMES use a bundle similar to a smudge stick, that wasnāt really common place. Usually they would grind the herbs and put them in a bowl, then get them smoldering and carry the bowl around so that the smoke could do itās thing. Plus Aboriginal people use Sage primarily, whereas Celtics used a mix of herbs, with Juniper being the main one. Even the bundle I mentioned was just the uncut herbs tied together sort of, not in a thick bundle, just a few pieces of it tied together. But that was usually if they didnāt have a fire-proof bowl to use.
So now I know, and I actually like this way of doing it A LOT better. It just works with my own practices a lot better⦠SoĀ Iām making this post because itās an easy mistake to make, so I hope I can help others avoid making it.
(I am Irish and Scottish, and I am a Celtic Wiccan.)
TL;DR: If you want to use smoke to cleanse, look at your own heritageās practices instead of just using the ādefaultā Smudge Stick. Because the smudge stick is cultural appropriation from the Aboriginal Peoples.
Had to have one of my beautiful rats, shadow, put down today. She was over two years old and even in her last weeks she was so mischievous, I've never met a rat with such an attitude. I want to make this post to reflect on some of my favourite memories and what I'm grateful for/will miss.
A Letter To Shadow
One of my favourite memories with you were many of the lonely nights I spent living alone when we would watch movies together. Another of my favourite memories is the time you escaped from your cage and when I came back half the room was chewed, luckily I always turned all the electrics off because you chewed through my brand new lamp wires. Another memory I have is choosing her, I remember seeing your sister and you were almost a second thought, but i ended up having a closer connection with you than I had with any of my pets. I remember travelling with you and your sister and how stressful/exciting it was to have a companion.
I'm so grateful that I had you to get me through the struggles of university, through my dad's death and so many little heartbreaks. The two years I had you were some of the most formative of my life and I'm so thankful for all of the comfort you gave me. I'm grateful that even as you got ill you still wanted cuddles and would try and play even though it was hard.
I will miss the way you curl up around my neck and the way you fuss over having your medicine. I will miss being able to have you to hold when I'm feeling down and most of all I will miss your spirit and your attitude.
You were the most wonderful loving and gentle rat a person could ask for, you changed so many people's opinions on rodents just with your playful presence. I will miss you and I love you eternally.
I'm so excited for 2021 not only because this year has been the WORST, but because this month I've really sewed the seeds for success next year. I'm finally learning to drive starting January, I am in the process of being registered at the doctors AND I'm seeing a counselor next year too! I'm so proud of myself for making big moves toward my own success and happiness. ā¤
I may have to get one of my rats put down tomorrow and I'm so upset, the fact that I have to go alone does not help
Men who expect their girlfriends to be their mother confuse me. Men/patriarchy spend all this time infantilizing women but they don't even know how to use a washing machine.

I'm so excited for December!
Why can my brain so quickly go from I wanna be on my own to I'm so painfully lonely
