My dream witchy garden
Day 2
I used rosemary to clean the floor with some orange peels to make a spell for purification, protection, prosperity and to represent the sun (due to the summer solstice approaching). I mopped the floor after boiling it and letting it simmer a little (two in one! Simmer pot spell + mopping spell) so I’ll keep an eye on how that goes.
🚫 Do not use any citrus fruits or products with citrus on wooden surfaces!!! It can cause damage to the protective layer of the paint.
I’m updating the Rosemary post 🌱
Day 1
Today I decided to work with Rosemary in a more intimate and animism way. I talked to my plant and asked if it could help me with a cleansing spell. Afterwards like an idiot I try cutting a piece with my fingernails (I have never done this before, I studied Horticulture!!! I’m a disgrace.) and it ripped a piece of root. I actually felt pain in my ankles. I’m never forgetting my gardening scissors again.
🚧The Lime🚧
Citrus ×latifolia
History : The trees seem to originate in in Southeast Asia, India and Malaysia. Arabian traders took some lime trees and lemon trees from India to the eastern Mediterranean countries then Africa around the 10th century. Later the traders went to Europe, which later Spanish and Portuguese explorer took the trees with them to the New World (America) in the Early 1500s. Where citrus fruits were considered rare and very valuable. The most common limes sold to consumers are Citrus ×latifolia (Persian lime) and Citrus ×aurantifolia (Mexican lime) which is the smallest of the two varieties. The fruit is picked unripe so that it has a more acidic flavour, when it’s fully ripe it is the colour yellow.
Medicinal properties : High in vitamin C and antioxidants that help improve the immune system, helps with absorption of Iron and may cause better coagulation of the blood due to the high levels of potassium (which can help prevent blood clots and it reduces blood pressure).
Magical properties : Cleansing and purification (some also use it for mental clarity)
This is your regularly scheduled reminder not to fuck around with using herbs OR crystals in or on the body without doing your research. I'm talking actual study of both body and the herb/crystal in question.
"this herb is supports menstrual health!" Cool. what does it DO? Like physically, what? Be specific.
How do your bodily organs function? Could you identify the individual organs? Can you explain how they work? If that organ is ill or not functioning correctly, do you know exactly what's going wrong and what needs to happen to fix it?
What component of that plant is affecting the body and how? Does your body need extra support in that way? How do you know? What other effects can this plant have on other parts of the body? Will it have chemical responses to other medications, herbs, or foods you are putting in your body?
Some minerals can start sweating sulfuric acid in high humidity, did you know that? Other rocks and crystals can contain toxic elements and heavy metals like mercury that can poison you. Sometimes they will straightup just dissolve in water — that doesn't mean they disappear, that means the water is contaminated with whatever elements and chemicals were in that stone, and it is probably not safe to drink.
Look, I'm all for herbal medicine. Crystals and stones can have really interesting uses for magic. But you can't just start smoking random plants or throwing things in a tea based on correspondence lists, or you're going to poison yourself or your loved ones.
If you want to be a healer, start with learning about the body. Not tea brewing.
He’s right, this is incredibly important and not talked about enough. I can personally admit that my posts aren’t detailed enough when it comes to the medical/physical aspects I write about and I will take full responsibility. My posts will be updated with more specific information on the health benefits. This made me also realize that I should educate myself a little on how the human body functions. I have mostly posted about regular fruits, vegetables and herbs that we may use in regular meals but this is the basics and it is the perfect opportunity to understand how it can affect us physically. Remember, always be careful and informed!
Y’all I’m being so serious when I say this: go to the library for witchcraft reasons.
You can usually find books on witchcraft, yes, but there’s also field guides on local foraging and wildlife, cookbooks, books that teach you how to craft and DIY, books about environmental protection and stewardship, books on how to use herbs medicinally, books about other religions, cultures, and spiritual practices. My favorite local library even has a seed swapping program and fantastic resources to research your own family history!
Go to the library for witchcraft. Please. :) <3
🚧The fig🚧
Ficus carica
History: It was one of the earliest fruit trees to be cultivated by humans, some recent archaeobotanical findings believe that the trees were domesticated some 11,000 years ago. The trees are native to Western Asia and slowly spread to the Mediterranean regions which became extremely common to eat and was even known as “the poor man’s food.” Then Spanish Franciscan missionaries took the trees with them to Southern California in 1520. It was used as sweetener for multiple desserts before sugar became more widely available. Fun fact some scholars believe that the forbidden fruit that Eve ate was not an apple but a fig.
Medicinal properties: Can be used as laxative, manages blood sugar levels( which improves heart health)and contains many beneficial antioxidants that boost the immune system.
Magical properties: Fertility, enlightenment and abundance

🚧The banana🚧
Musa
History: The fruit was domesticated in Asia, more specifically on the Kuk valley of New Guinea around 8,000 BC . The consumption of the fruit was mentioned in early Greek, Latin and Arabic texts. The fruit then seems to have spread to the Philippine and into more tropical regions (India, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia). But after the arrival of the fruit to the Philippine it seems that many researchers found it difficult to trace the propagation of the plant. So the plant was somehow reintroduced and rediscovered after hundreds if not thousands of years later with multiple new varieties and various new domestication methods (Seedless/asexual, hybrid and other). The plant was later introduced by traders from Asia to Africa around 2,000 years ago. The Europeans took the plant to the New World (America) from the Canary Islands shortly after discovering it, then planted them in Hispaniola. African slaves also also brought some plants with them to use and create new recipes around plantain which created new roots in their culture. The fruit became a staple food in many regions in the early 1800s and the Cavendish (variety of bananas) became popular in 1950 which is the one we eat nowadays.
Medicinal properties: Helps with digestion health due to the high amount of fiber, helps stabilize blood pressure by reducing it thanks to the potassium content and has natural sugars that improve dopamine levels
Magical properties: Can represents the male genitalia, abundance, luck and resilience
Hi daily reminder to witches:
A cord cutting ritual involves CUTTING the cord, both a physical representation of the cord and energetically.
A cord cutting ritual DOES NOT involve candles, tying a string around said candles to burn the string, or dressing candles up with extremely unsafe amounts of herbs, oils and Gods know what else.
Please try to avoid “social media witchcraft”: they be doing things wrong in order to get more engagement. Cutting an energetic tie isn’t much to look at so, social media witches decided what’s cooler than candles and lots of herbs and crystals around?

Why Many Witches Now Prefer Local Plants Over Imported or Trend-Based Herbs
There is a rising preference for place-based plant magic, meaning using herbs and plants that grow naturally in your climate rather than relying on packaged and imported ingredients. This is grounded in both environmental awareness and energetic alignment.
Reasons This Trend Is Growing:
• avoids overharvesting of popular herbs
• reduces misinformation from mass-market sellers
• creates a relationship with land spirits where you live
• aligns magic with your personal ecosystem
• weeds often have stronger magical folklore than store-bought herbs
Examples of Common “Weeds” With Strong Magical Use:
• dandelion: wishes, spirit communication, releasing
• clover: luck, protection, charm bags
• nettle: boundaries, resilience, curse prevention
• plantain: healing, grounding, protection
Local plants respond to your environment which can make magic more personal and effective.

🚧Honey🚧
History: For over 9,000 years, humans have been savouring honey. The honeybees are probably the first insects humankind domesticated. Ancient Egyptians seem to be the first to use honey as sweetener and as medicine.
Medicinal properties: High in antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and helps regulate blood pressure.
Magical properties: Sweetness, binding, attraction, love and prosperity.
