good evening goyim (people who aren’t jews), our favorite cookie running mobile app has done it yet again and are planning to add another charicature to their game, presumably making this one playable as well.
this would be goblin cookie as a part of the newest update (posting 9/28/20), and i’d like to take a moment to explain why this is a charicature and why we should urge them not to add this to the game.
goblins have a very long history of being antisemitic charicatures right off the bat. they’re small, greedy hoarders with hooked noses, and all of these line up with stereotypes about jewish people.
jewish people have hooked noses, and antisemites believe jewish people are greedy and hoarders who amass money.
you can see the second point on this ‘goblin cookie is an antisemitic charicature’ forming already: they’re described as greedy, too.
so we can skip talking about the second point and hop to the third point, which is their design.
while green skin on its own isn’t usually a red flag (colors, haha) for being antisemitic, this combined with the aforementioned “goblins are already originating from antisemitism” and “they’re a greedy bastard” pretty obviously makes this issue worse:
“it’s notable that the shade used for Jewish caricatures often had a greenish, sickly tint - quite literally depicted as poisonous toadstools who sneakily live amongst the pure & good mushrooms.“
a lot of jews who play cookie run have spoken up against this design pretty much immediately after the livestream for this update came out and unveiled this.
the reason i’m bringing it to your attention is not to tell you “you can’t like cookie run anymore” - g-d knows it’s got a plethora of other problems already, from its transphobia to its racism.
however, my goals here are to warn other jews about this charicature in this upcoming update, inform goyim about why goblin cookie is a charicature (and thus why you should absolutely avoid producing or engaging with content of this charicature), and maybe on a slim chance raise enough hell to make devsisters avoid actually releasing this cookie as a playable character?
which is why i ask of you to give some feedback on this update on their facebook as well as in their official discord server.
make a little noise so that they may change their minds on adding this to the game, before it’s too late to remove it.
the fact that they designed this charicature in the first place is disgusting, but if we could avoid having it actually implemented in the game, that’d be really appreciated.
