Hey Starry! :D Hiya—haven’t been in here in a while. Hopefully this isn’t annoying. I just had a question, if that’s okay (and you don’t have to answer it if you don’t want to, obviously-)

Do your FNF guys have lore? And if so (and you’re comfortable sharing), could you yap about them? Like, their backstories or little details? I just think they’re really freaking neat man. (Currently in love with that epic Keith design. He’s so cool and the Smiley Archive is my favorite internet horror thing :])

yeah there might be something

honestly its one of those things we're just kind of doing for fun without As Clear of a direction- its smth we wanna talk more in depth about on our system blog sometime, but a big thing we do to kind of .deal with the horrors?? is just come up with stories on whatever feels natural. i think its a creative escapism type of thing but it also helps us parse Feelings through an indirect lens so we can actually understand them (it like jukes some mental block idfk). i feel like this sounds insane but its cathartic 2 put yourself into something and just start tearing shit up in whatever way Feels Right .

THAT is basically entirely what we've dubbed the Torture Nexus is. i find it hard to even consider fnf-deviant but all the same its such a fundamental building block that we cant fully disconnect it and also i cant do anything about the 500 sonic.exes and blatant mod-ocs that not-boyfriend knows personally so its in a weird grey space in our mind??? either way its not smth we've taken AS seriously- mostly being done for the fun n catharsis of it all . u know how it is.

just bc its not a serious attempt AT storytelling doesnt mean its an Unserious story though we did dub it the torture nexus for a reason so i head it with that disclaimer b4 i talk abt the actual . Whatever semblance of a plot there is. and im just gonna tumble this onto the page raw and youre just gonna have to bear with how unhinged it all is ok? ok !

CONTENT WARNINGS BTW: discussions and depictions of BODY HORROR, GORE, PARASITES (AND SIMILAR THINGS THAT CONSTITUTES THE SAME WARNING) ((PARTICULARLY WORM-LIKE ONES, THEYRE SNAKES AND SCORPION TAILS WITH EYES BUT ITS CLOSE ENOUGH)), INFO/COGNITOHAZARDS, MIND CONTROL/MIND BREAKING, MURDER & GUN VIOLENCE, SCOPOPHOBIA, UNREALITY?/GENERAL COSMIC FLAVORED HORROR. im hoping that covers most of the bases but if i missed anything PLEASEE tell me. its called the Torture Nexus just exercise caution <3

(long as fuck ramble below cut)

the general worldbuilding premise is some kinda fractured reality that exists in various DOMAINs that are fought for and controlled by various beings we dubbed FILE-entities. effectively like demons/gods/etc, and the DOMAINs they seize control of are like vaguely connected pocket dimensions that are orbiting each other, rather than one Solid World. traversal between them isnt impossible, but tends to be uncommon for mortals- theyre much easier for FILE-entities, though, which a vast majority use to try and fight each other to expand their domain and control. FILE-entities can be recognized by their three letter designations. not all FILE-entities are built equal.

some (relevant.......) examples we drew:

(forgot to note it in idi's inspirations but it IS also the smiley archives faces. thats the smiley its her) (and mal is somewhere between nmi, ultra m, and some bullshit we just made up completely for its visual design.)

yes half of those are based heavily or just directly off of friday night crunchin ifu has haunted us for years. we like the funny meme mod and the creatures it cooked up.

the other relevant piece of context is the namesake, which we tend to just call the Torture Nexus but the actual name we've given it is. im still deciding but its either Nexus Labs or Nexus Co. BASICALLY its the Evil Government Torture Facility Troupe and is a major player in the DOMAIN that most of the story takes place in, something akin to earth aside from the place thats totally not studying FILE-entities and the effects they have on mortals to try and make a living weapon, trust me, why would the Evil Government Torture Facility ever do something like that? (they in fact are doing that)

as for The Lore, the story so far ill try to like. sum up in bullet points. but ALSO here is a playlist of what each beat/thing is based on that we made bc we're crazy... fun challenge (easy) try to guess what each thing is meant to be (not every song has a direct event tied to it though like. half of the playlist is just vibes for the horrors these freaks deals with)

about 20 years before the present, an employee of the Nexus strikes up a deal with a powerful FILE-entity (MAL, or as we call it, MALICE). it breaks off a piece of itself and gives it to the employee (Grapevine) to keep and do with it as he pleases until it reaches maturity. once its mature, MALICE will return for it to absorb back into itself with all the power and knowledge it gains from that DOMAIN.

what ends up actually happening with this is that Grapevine gets an infant baby from it, develops a conscious about the fact that the Nexus is going to be doing experiments on the baby for presumably like 18 years, and decides to steal it and go into hiding. he names the kid Cherry.

about 4 years before the present, the Nexus abducts some teenage transgender (fang) that just went through a shitty breakup with some asshole raver-DJ guy in his class (keith) and tries out turning him into a feral dinosaur thing for some reason. strength + animalistic obedience + human levels of intelligence is the formula, i think. it only mostly works, missing the obedience factor.

about 2 years before the present, fang breaks out with the help of another subject (some parasitic furry goop thing Dont Worry About It) and tries to get back to life. they did successfully make him pretty good at killing things and experiencing bloodlust, so assassin work pays the bills up until he gets an anonymous request for a hit on his stupid ex and cant finish the job.

the hit was issues by Grapevine bc his daughter Cherry has been sneaking out more and more often to hang out with her new boyfriend, that aforementioned asshole raver-DJ, Keith. they met while fang was dealing with all That, as Cherry (an incredibly sheltered kid who wasnt allowed to go out for fear of MALICE finding and taking her back) started sneaking around a lot more once she hit her teen years and was immediately enamored to keith. keith actually kind of improves as a person for her, and cherry is just very clingy and protective. this clinginess and protectiveness extends to fang once hes adopted into the group. the dynamic holds strong and the three have a great time screwing around together for a while.

lets say that from here on is the present even though these events might technically last months or even years. i really dont care enough to count out more numbers. starting at this point keith is 19-20, fang is 19, and cherry is 18. yay

the horrors are catalyzed when MALICE appears to grapevine on Cherry's 18th birthday, telling him that times up and hes back for his newest pawn. grapevine tries to fight him on this but never really stood a chance, ultimately being killed by and assimilated into MALICE. thats MALICE's thing btw- the possession and assimilation of its victims.

it then comes to claim what he says is rightfully his. of course cherry is off with keith and fang again (she has no idea what happened to her father as she was gone when he got attacked), so when it comes to drag her into itself, it has to deal with the other two as well. its approach is to just smack them into some other realms to die as its not too pressed to consume these stupid mortals, but this is only successfully done to fang- cherry clings too tightly to keith and theyre both dragged into the same place.

fangs side story consists of him getting mauled by a jigglypuff and this is how his face got ripped off. he manages to survive this somehow.

ofc cherry and keith dont go down easy, being dragged still-independent into MALICE's core realm where it has to work to break them down. it uses the husks and powers of other FILE-entities its consumed to create illusions and torment the couple into giving up. ultimately, it succeeds in stealing cherry away, kills(...?) keith, and throws his body away because it doesnt even have any nutritional value have you SEEN his twink ass build?

somehow keith actually lives this- i think a last act of power and mercy from cherry before hes cast away. he lands back in his home DOMAIN, now alone-- except Oh No. Something crawled out of MALICE when the door opened for him to be released. see- much like him and cherry persisted, there are plenty of other entities that were consumed by MALICE who manages to cling to themselves and fight assimilation. most are horribly mangled from its attempts to break their bodies and wills down, but theyre still themselves.

the one that hitched a ride with keith (JPG) is unfortunately not a nice one and blows everything up. like an actually apocalyptic kind of event. that DOMAIN is so fucked. before everything can be fully destroyed, it is imprisoned by a more benevolent entity (IFU) and keith is gently set back into whats left of his home.

obviously this is not treating keith well at all. like mentally. and considering the amount of horrors that hes seen and was seen with, guess what, the Torture Nexus survived the explosions and rains of hellfire! and they have a new and exciting boy to test on !!!!!!

even though hes taken involuntarily, they do claim to want to help, and that he'll be treated well and rewarded for cooperation. as an act of goodwill, in fact- since we know how hard things have been for you- please, watch these (VERY NORMAL) tapes while you settle in! theyre supposed to make you Happy. dont worry about why the staff isnt allowed to look at them and why youre being so closely supervised. theyre an infohazard normal.

also, since we have you, and youre such a natural- we've noticed some odd signals coming through the tv you watch your special videos on, so we're also gonna have you start investigating those because youre extremely disposable and we need to break your will down. it is found that tuning the crt correctly creates connections to other DOMAINS, and keith is employed to start investigating, finding that he is able to effectively enter the DOMAIN on screen with a tether to the Nexus, allowing them to begin exploring other DOMAINs and researching new and exciting FILE-entities through keith. nevermind keiths mental health im sure hes fine . hes just making that shit up about the voices and im sure smiling as a fear response is something he always did ok

MEANWHILE, BACK TO THOSE OTHER GUYS

fang manages to claw his way out of the DOMAIN he was thrown into, somehow- something may or may not have helped open the door from the other side, bc he actually ends up in MALICE's core domain. of course as an intruder the horrors immediately start going for him, but he's capable of fighting back- and he has something on his side.

its another one of those persistent survivors (GBY) that MALICE hasnt been able to fully assimilate yet! its a weaker FILE-entity, but it has some mental fortitude, and enough strength to help fang find what hes looking for- a certain woman he knows well.

somehow, even fully under MALICE's control, Cherry still exists somewhat independently. though she attacks and is hard to wake up, fang is eventually able to get enough sense in her to convince her to escape- and having been such a closely held piece of MALICE for however long it took for him to get to her (its been a while), shes stronger than ever, the full development of her powers having been rapidly accelerated to match the scale of her creator's. so shes more than capable to jump out of his world and into somewhere else, where further distanced from her maker's influence, is able to get her own bearings about her again. only after getting some killing out of her system of course but its ok. also dont worry about the ways that this has changed her mind and behavior towards others this wont have consequences . looks around

now as a proper team, cherry remembers that keith was thrown.. somewhere, shes just not sure where. so she and fang go on to jump between DOMAINs, trying to follow keiths scent trail to catch up to him.

now lets see how keith is doing again

throwing a guy whos already experiencing an infohazard thats trying to convince him to kill everyone and himself indiscriminately at a bunch of completely undocumented MALICIOUS DEMONS is not good for the guy in question, turns out. he keeps catching the attention of things that cling to him, trying to lure him away- though the first one to get its fingers in his mind holds him tight, ensuring nothing else takes him too soon.

its certainly made him a compliant tool, though- hes gotten good at following orders and surviving the situations hes thrown into. they did find out early on that injuries that happened within the connection carried to his real body, but the Nexus has means to negate the injuries at least. they always manage to pull him before anything fatal happens, so its literally fine. hes literally ok. hes only had the flesh of his arm melted off, his head almost ripped off, his other arm almost ripped off, and been actually torn in half through the middle. and more. but otherwise hes like fine trust. look at how swagged out he is hes living a life of luxury for how well behaved hes been just Ignore . everything else

ignore how his latest visit has ended with him alive when he really shouldnt be. ignore the empty gap left in his chest by.. something making a final gambit, knowing its time to act is slipping away. ignore that something has laid claim to his heart.

and then one day. shit hits the fan. because two certain people have broken in to the Nexus....

yup cherry and fang finally figured out where their guy is !! fang being particularly pissed considering his own history. theyre also ripping through all of the security systems and guards, so... Nexus decides its time to pull the trigger and see how successful their latest gambit actually is. they equip keith with the only weapon he'll need, and flip the switch planted with one simple phrase-

smile, keith!

and so begins a massacre. most of the casualties are of staff, but its a worthy sacrifice- theyve made what they were looking to make, after all. everything is perfect. and when he stands to face the intruders he was sent after, the familiarity hardly matters. he aims and fires the last shots that remain, and fang falls.

one bullet left, his mind insisting on exactly how to use it. before he can pull the trigger, though--

a clawed hand knocks the gun out of his hands and sends the bullet misfiring into the ceiling, wasting the shot.

Uh Oh! someone is not dead and something is very wrong.

keith is knocked unconscious by whatever the fuck you'd call that, and his limp body is happily dragged away by his dearly beloved girlfriend and the unwilling husk shes controlling, finally freeing him from the torture Nexus. but at what cost...

and besides- something else is more than happy to finally take a soul whos only objective now, is to escape. theres more than one smiling face whos been looking to take him as a new plaything, and this ones chance has finally come.

uuuh thats all i got rn. sorry its a mess !!!!!!!!!! if u have questions abt specific stuff or characters pls do let us know i like answering ur shit. otherwise i hope this iis literally anything. i feel like sharing this publicly makes me look fucking insane and its kind of embarrassing. my opinions and relationships on fnf and especially its modding scene are complex and layered but by beautiful mind palace has a way of bastardizing things in ways that scare even me. this train has long since gone off the rails i fear. i dont have any control over it. keith is driving and hes doing a really scary job.
