Lovino prepared to spend another lonely night at home. His brother and grandfather had left for Milan the previous week for a fashion show and some official appearances his grandfather was obliged to make. Lovino wasn't too sure what his father did for a living, but he knew it must be important considering the vast wealth he appeared to hold.
He sighed and continued to stir the pasta he was preparing for dinner. It's no wonder I'm never invited to go with them, Feliciano is much more cheery than I am, the public eat that crap up. Lovino shakes his head and turns to the cupboard to find the olive oil when he hears someone drop something in the mail chute.
Mail? This late at night? He thinks to himself as he turns the burner to low and then walks over to the mail chute.
He sees a single letter that almost appears to be glowing a light blue. He picks it up and notices how elegant the script is. A hand-written letter, how unsual. He reads the return address a few times in disbelief. He quickly tears open the letter and only has to read the first line before he is jumping about, shouting for joy.
"I made it in! I actually made it in!"
In his excitement he drops his acceptance letter from the highly prestigious Academia Mare.
He sprints over to the kitchen, slipping on the discarded letter and landing face first on the hardwood floor of the entryway.
"FUCK! Ow, fucking hell! That fucking hurt!," he shouts as he scrambles to get back up and pull the pasta off the burner. Once that is taken care of, Lovino goes back to the entryway so he can finish reading the letter while his food continues to cook.
I can't believe it, I actually made it in. He pulls the rest of the papers out of the envelope and lays them out on the kitchen counter. Maybe this letter will tell me more about this damn place. I can't believe Grandpa Rome convinced me to apply even though I know so little about the place. I mean, damn, I don't even know where the fucking place is located. All I know is that this place is for the best of the best and practically nobody gets in.
Lovino continues to read the letter, but as his eyes scan further and further down the page, his vision becomes more and more blurry. What's this? I must have hit my head pretty hard earlier. I should eat, that will make me feel better.
As he begins to drain his pasta and place it in a bowl, his vision clears up a bit. He gently garnishes the pasta so as not to agitate his senses and possibly make his head injury worse and sits at the kitchen counter to continue looking over the letter.
According to this, Academia Mare has only been around since the 1800s, how did I not hear about it when it first opened? His vision begins to blur again, more quickly this time. Ugh, this is too much to bear, I should go lie down. Lovino stands up a bit too quickly and, as a result, passes out onto the floor.
Lovino opens his eyes to see himself on a beach.
He sits up and then quickly places his hand on his forehead.
Right, I was at home when I passed out. But why?
He sighs and then turns around only to see a large building resembling one of the old fortresses scattered across Europe.
He looks down at his hand to see his acceptance letter still clutched tightly in it.
This letter suddenly transported me here. I'm actually here, Academia Mare. Who would have thought? He shakes his head and stands up. Well I had better go and find whoever's in charge here and see if I can somehow get my stuff from home and tell Feli and Grandpa that I'm alright.
Lovino stands up and begins to walk towards the academy, and the new adventure that awaits him there.
