looks like tumblr hit the ‘fuck go back’ button on my blog which means i can actually write on here again but i wanted to throw out a quick apology for the radio silence here and on discord especially. i wound up in the hospital yesterday due to serious complications with my breathing only to find out that i basically have a deviated septum and i’m more than likely going to have to have my nose surgically broken to fix it. i can only breathe out of one side of my nose really well but that’s ok. i also have allergies and sinus problems but i was prescribed some medicine that basically fixed all of that and i feel???? really damn good now. really energetic and inspired so hopefully you’ll see more of me in the coming weeks hehe i hope ya’ll have been doing well

this man speaks as if he knows anything about Wei Wuxian at all. it’s an insult to him   --   and immediately taken as such. to have the gall to speak to a ghost about their history and personality; if he were corporeal right now he might’ve bared his teeth and snarled like a cornered dog. instead, his emotions are translated through the black fog that shroud this place and it turns electric once more, coils and unfurls in threatening ribbons toward this so called unloved god.       ❝     don’t talk to me as if you know who i am or what i feel. furthermore, the gods regard this place often enough for me to immediately distrust your intentions. every single one of them that’ve come by this place have only wanted one thing; to see me die.      ❞      && if it were possible for him to be erased from this place, trust him, he would’ve already done that a long time ago. but given that his strong emotions kept him rooted in life, despite having already long since died by his martial brother’s sword, it was not an option he could have anymore.

at least that’s what he believed these days. perhaps there was a chance he could be laid into the afterlife. though even if he were, he sincerely doubted he could ever go to the place where Lan Wangji now rested. he was far too much a sinner to ever earn a spot next to his husband’s side. too much blood was on his hands, too many lives were taken because of him.      ❝     even if you are speaking the truth or actually cared about me, what’s the point? you get no benefit out of grieving for a ghost. go and leave this place, unless you want to be choked by my fog too. i won’t warn you again, little god.      ❞

hand raises in a blatant display of ignorance, and is followed by the soft shake of his head.       ❝      no, never. i’ve seen magic of a sort, but in my country it’s called cultivation.      ❞      his voice matches his easy-going personality. it is soft but firm, and he smiles in a lackadaisical fashion. at first glance it seems he has struck the right chord with her, but he can guess why. most people, especially those he had previously been surrounded by, seemed very prideful of the abilities they could perform. it made sense that she was too, especially by such a strange magics he’d never seen before.       ❝      if you’re willing, i’d like to learn more about this alchemy.      ❞      he sees it as a challenge worth his intrigue   --    something new for him to master and perhaps bring home with him... if he can even reach home anymore. he should ask her where he is first, but he forgoes that for the time being, and prefers to learn the finer details little by little.

expanding further on Wei Wuxian’s arcane verse && his presentation as a fox spirit, specifically  he is what’s known in Chinese Mythology as a 狐狸精, or  húlijīng, roughly translated into fox spirit in English. hulijing are shape shifters and, depending on their presentation, can be considered either good or bad omens. due to Wei Wuxian’s upbringing and his general nature in the Arcane verse, he is considered a bad omen, and unless you’re someone he trusts or has willingly transformed into his fox form in front of, if you see the spirit of a black-furred fox, it typically means your death is coming. 

it’s important to keep in mind that when doing business in The Green Light District, Wei Wuxian will almost always be either shrouded in magic or wearing painted fox mask, keeping his appearance and identity ambiguous. the only time you should be concerned for your life is if he presents himself in his fox form when talking to you, or completely shows his face. this typically means that he has no intention of letting you leave alive.

he is a businessman, yes. he runs The Green Light District with the exiled remnants of the Wen sect as a means for them to live peacefully; but he is also capable of being playful, conniving, thrifty, and devious. there are rumors of a fox luring unsuspecting passerbys to their doom if they get too close to the district without a proper token for entry, and this rumor is true. sometimes he simply likes to play tricks on others and thoroughly enjoys watching his victims suffer. however, his victims are never innocent people and are almost always criminals or person with ill intention. Wei Wuxian does not kill without good reason. he very well could’ve devolved down such a path, being a Vastayan who was rejected by topside and scorned in Zaun, but he chooses to keep some of his good will and mess around with only those who deserve it.
