❝ You chose not to side either party solely based on their humanity? ❞
Fujimaru Ritsuka had made her preference in this battle known — support those in need, those unable to fend for themselves. Ever the altruistic sort, seeking to help those who could not help themselves. An admirable trait, if not a naive one — but still, it was a choice even the King had decided was acceptable to abide by. Certainly, he would not push himself where he deemed it inappropriate, but ever did he find amusement in the decisions of the one who had summoned him forth as a Servant.
Still, her wishes had never specified what to do in the case of a neutral party. One who spoke of humanity with such a loathing that it made even the Caster raise a brow, arms folded as he listened on with a slight intrigue. The boy’s eyes betrayed his age, his lack of humanity notwithstanding — so what could have caused such potent hate to blossom in one so young? A hatred so powerful that he would even forgo the opportunity to regain lost strength was not one to take lightly.
❝ How are you to assume that they are led by mankind? With their power to move humans and gods alike into this realm, have you not considered the possibility that they are beings far removed from the very limits of mortality itself? ❞
Mikaela would have thought, in a past lifetime long ago, that humans were not capable of such things. But Mikaela has since then witnessed the horrors and atrocities that humans have caused, always hungry for power, perhaps even more-so that vampires are hungry for blood. He despised both, of course, but it was clear to see that Mikaela hated humans more. His trust in them had dwindled completely, save for one, and it was even more aggravating that that person wasn’t here. But, Mikaela thought, if they were somewhere safer, then that was all that mattered. He had been standing somewhere quiet for some time now, holding himself back in the midst of the commotion, the thirst for blood heightening with the amount of people caught up in this chaos, the buildings and floors stained. What was more agonising was having to not give in to his vampire tendencies, which unfortunately still existed, even when he had been stripped of his powers and strength.
Mikaela was nothing more than something even more inhuman. A shell of a vampire; there was nothing about him at all that he could boast. Hissing, he eyed the stranger as though they too were not to be trusted, his gaze narrowing, expression hostile. It would have been the same, even if the circumstances were different. Mikaela cared little for the battle that was unfolding around him.
“Why do you care?” He said. “Humans are very capable of doing something like this.” He spoke as though this stranger were insinuating he wouldn’t know any better. Mikaela’s words were spoken slowly in between breaths. “I’ve seen it before. This is no different.”
