"That’s what they call me," He responds, shrugging his shoulders. "Kind of an odd place to roam around when you can’t sleep." Mack points out, sounding like the big brother Bobbi always accused him of being. "Normally I’d tell you to get out of here before you get hurt, but its quiet."  He pauses, giving the girl a smile. “Charlie right?” 

"Not to me," Charlie shrugged back. "This stuff’s kind of like my version of reading a book before bed. In the good way, I mean, not in the I’m-trying-to-bore-myself-to-sleep way." She kept a respectful distance, but craned her neck to look at what he was working on. Just a little bit. 

Her eyes darted back up to his face in surprise. “You know who I am? I mean—yeah, that’s me.”

He smiles. "Yeah Fitz has talked about you sometimes." He steps aside for a moment, giving silent permission for the girl to check out what he was working on. "You have any questions or anything? I'm one of those mechanics that loves to talk shop."

Holy moley. Fitz told her he was big, but this guy was the hugest guy Charlie had ever seen in her entire life. She didn’t even feel intimidated like she might have if she ran into him on the street without anyone ever having said This guy’s my friend. Instead she was just delighted.

"Sorry! I wasn’t spying or anything, I just woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep. I bet you’re Mack, right?"

He heard rather then saw the person coming up behind him. Normally he would keep working but at such an early hour he should really see who was wondering around his garage. Mack sets down his tools and wipes his hands on a rag before turning around to face the new comer - a very tiny newcomer.  "Can I help you?"

"Hey hey hey, wha’ are you doin’?!"  Fitz didn’t see why the mechanic was being so violent towards the unit, just registering the unit itself was, in the mind of an engineer, crying out in pain.  Fitz rushed forward and moved closer, staring.  "Tha’s—tha’s important equipment!"  Just as vital to the upkeep of the park as his own new coaster designs.

"This - " Mack says, pointing at the air conditioning unit with his wrench. "Is a piece of shit equipment that not only is outdated, but was also installed wrong."

He hits the top of it with his wrench and gestures towards the paneling that came off. "I didn't even have to unscrew that."
