Printer-friendly cards! These are mostly final designs. Will need a bit of balancing but so far they play well. Introduced a point-based score system to help counter the ‘race-to-the-finish’ mechanic problem I was having.
Room cards and equippable wardrobe (item) cards.
More playtesting! (version 0.3) Printing new cards this weekend.
Updated cards! Im liking this style.
Spent a couple hours doing 17-19th century illustrated cards. Public domain images collected from the Bristish Library Flickr. I’m liking this style. I’ve never really seen it for a tabletop game. What do you guys think?
After discovering that the British Library put 1 million images into the public domain, free to reuse and remix, i’m toying with the idea of an 17-19th Century art style for Wizard Crawl. I think it would work nicely given the period and the lore around wizardry.
Print’n’play Health Tracker for playtesting
Health tokens at the bottom to cut out and use on the paper version of the health tracker. Four player tokens (1-4 circles and coloured) and a Monster token (X-M cross).
Cards V3
Now with texture and depth!
First Playtest of Wizard Crawl Co-operative mechanics worked well, but were thrown to the side to play a more competitive player v. player game. Dice and cards mechanics mostly work as planned.
Scribbles on cards are due to balancing between playing rounds. Monsters need a lot of evening out. At the moment they’re either too easy or too hard. Needs to have a more gradual progression. Finishing the game was near impossible on the first round.
The second time playing we looked for more gear/weapon/loot cards on the first couple floors and were able to finish it with only 2 characters dying.
Card Ideas V2 Front and backs of new monsters and gear. Rooms now have dead ends to create the feeling of a more tangible dungeon.
Card Ideas V1
Wizard Crawl
Wizard based tabletop ideas based on the PolyHero wizard dice kickstarter set. I am not affiliated with PolyHero in any way. I just like making games and this set sparked a plethora of ideas. Dice Set: D20 Orb D12 Wand/Staff D10 Potion D100 Potion D8 Scroll D6 Ball D4 Bolt
Wizard Party (Co-op Ideas)
1. Draw cards to create a dungeon crawl adventure and find the exit. Exits get easier to go through once monsters are defeated.
2. Dungeon tower defence, wizard in the centre of a board (a4 printed). Draw monster and demon cards that approach once each player has had a turn.
Wizard Battle (Competetive Ideas)
1. Area based battle. D20 health, scroll with spell list that define which damage dice to roll, wand/bolt/ball=damage, potionsx2=heal.
2. Dungeon crawl with a drawn board (munchkin-like). Need to progress till the last room.
