Comments: This badass fic is full of sass AND class. The summary does not remotely cover what goes on in this fic but it is definitley the start so keep that in mind for a bit as how it all came to be comes to light at the beginning. The story is Snape centric, but almost everyone at least makes an appearance, if they don’t stick around. Books 2-7 and beyond.

Hermione Granger's Hogwarts Crammer for Delinquents on the Run by Waspabi

Summary: 'You're a wizard, Harry' is easier to hear from a half-giant when you're eleven, rather than from some kids on a tube platform when you're seventeen and late for work.

Comments: Always on the lookout for a Harry who didn’t go to Hogwarts and was delighted to find this one! Shenanigans abound but with that touch of ‘ok but no seriously this is important’ in the background that keeps it from getting off track. Well written, characters are developed nicely. Prepare for infinite snark and sarcasm. All in all, great fic, read it, I don’t want to spoil the fun.

Everyone is kept mostly in character. This fic spans from Halloween ‘81 through Prisoner of Azkaban. Sequel pending.

Comments: I love fics where Harry doesn’t go to Hogwarts or enter the magical world when he was meant to, so if you’re of the same mind, you will enjoy this. Harry is just enough canon, mixed with having grown up more muggle, to make it work. He’s craftsman(boy?) so we get to explore some different avenues of the magical world. Mostly no pairings. Contains a blatantly manipulative Dumbledore, a trope I’m not a huge fan of personally but it didn’t detract too much from the overall story.

Dudley’s Dilemma by Kakistocrat

Summery: Dudley Dursley had a very nice life. A good job, a nice house, a loving family. He even had his parents living nearby. Then, one short walk with his four year old daughter changed that all.

Comments: This fic follows the Dudley and his family over a number of years as they reach out to Harry and his family, and then have to figure out where magic will fit in their lives as well how they fit into the wizarding world. If you were looking for an epilogue compliant, comofrtably long fic that deals with the Dursley’s and the Potters, this is it. Very satisfying, to see some loose ends tied up =D

Carry That Weight (A Long Time) by PazithiGallifreya

Summary: Voldemort is dead but Harry Potter's problems are far from over. Long Live The Queen by Offsides

Summary: With Harry Potter's hearing for Underage Use of Magic looming, and Sirius Black hunted for a crime he didn't commit and was never tried for, Harry reaches out to Her Majesty the Queen for help, with unexpected results.

Warnings: Character Deaths, Technically mary sue? But I mean, it’s The Queen.

Comments: Well-written and well paced. There’s an interesting change in the dynamic of the story where it goes from being about Harry to being about everyone and everything. It was a delightful read and worth chance. There are no pairings, a little Molly bashing, Dumbledore bashing and ministry bashing (and by bashing I mean a scolding). Werewolves, knights, royalty, fun!

Comments: This is both a Time Travel fic and a Drarry! The author handles Harry and Draco very well, and the story has a number of twists that will make you catch you up. We interact with a lot of other characters but when it comes down to it this fic very much revolves around Harry and Draco and how they are reacting and thinking in regards to their circumstances and to one another.

Comments: Squib Harry gets in just as much trouble as Wizard Harry, perhaps more =D I’ve never found a fic quite like this before, a whirlwind of activity and ‘OH! I see now!” moments which are always fun. Dumbedore Bashing, Weasley Bashing, Order of the Phoenix bashing.

Comments: To a Whovian, I would relate this to the feeling of the Tardis meeting the Doctor. It is beautiful and tragic and inevitable. Hedwig is interpreted in the most amazing way. If you are turned off by the concept of an OC, push through it because you will NOT regret reading this. It is canon compliant and covers books 3-7.

Comments: Loved this to pieces. Very balanced and well thought out but not overly complicated. Characters are portrayed canon enough that it’s believable.

Summary: “I'd rather spend the Summer with Snape." Harry's personal hells are swapped - summer with the Dursley's may not be much fun but surely summer with Snape will be worse?

Warnings: Minor Violence? I think that was about it

Comments: Keeps true to the characters enough that it feels believable. It begins at the end of Harry’s second year. Essentially, a really well put together au showing what might have happened if someone had swooped in and taken a fair amount of care for Harry’s well being and growth.

The sequel is a lot longer and completed (yay!) but the author has not been active on ff.net for some time, so it is unknown whether or not the series will be added on to. It does wrap up well though so it doesn’t feel terribly bereft.

Warnings: Violence and torture, more graphic in sequel but present in both

Comments: Blew my mind, tbh. This is an alternate universe but there’s a good bit of our canonical characters’ personalities shining through. It’s sequel is complete as well and it all comes together brilliantly. Worth the read, but forewarning, it feels like it could become slash at any moment, however it is not a slash fic. A very curious relationship though. Slytherin Harry!
