syp ⚢ stopping for a view of the seaside with abby.
abby's firm hand returned back to its place on your thigh. the sun had completely set by then, the only remnants of light coming from the moon that was making it's way up to the center of the sky. at that moment, it was sitting carefully on the horizon and its light was reflecting on the water.
you were softly napping in the passenger seat with the windows down. the warm summer breeze, mixed with sea salt, was blowing the hair out of your face and you felt yourself drifting further away with every exhale. somewhere, in the back of your mind, you could almost hear the faint music coming from your radio. this was slightly interrupted by the sound of your girlfriend trying to switch gears without disturbing you.
the road curved sharply before opening to a wide turnout and through her window she could see pavement carved into the cliffs above the pacific. the wooden railing lined the edge, offering a place to rest and enjoy the view of waves crashing against jagged rocks. abby decided that you both deserved a break from the road, so she slowly pulled in and cut the engine.
the feeling of the wheels rolling over small rocks forced your eyes open. you shifted from your position to look at abby, who was already leaning over to unbuckle her seatbelt. you sent her a confused look as to why you'd suddenly stopped, your vision still foggy from sleep.
"i figured you'd want to take a look at this" was all she said before urging you to look around for a bit.
the view in front of you was a painting of a sight. the waves stretched for miles across the ocean floor, appearing as though they're fighting to suck in anybody that got too close. the moon's stunning light reflected on the water making everything look hauntingly empty. small animals were seen shifting around the grass patches next to the asphalt.
you slowly stepped outside of the car and were immediately attacked by the cold breeze. abby took your hand and walked you to the corner of the fence that was slightly hidden by trees, away from all the wind.
the picture was even clearer now. you could notice flocks of birds flying from one side to another.
your hands found their way onto the railing absent-mindedly while you turned your head to see what abby was up to.
she stepped behind you and her large arms found their place right next to yours. you couldn't help but lean back into her to get that extra warmth coming from her jacket, and as she noticed the slight shiver that was going through your body, she stepped even closer. there was something about her presence that immediately grounded you in the moment yet she didn't have a habit of talking. it's powerful when somebody can calm your soul with just the sound of their company.
just like always, she placed her head in the side of your neck and deeply sighed.
the next few moments were spent in complete silence. you were practically hanging off the railing with abby linked closely behind you, both staring off into the seemingly never-ending body of water. the humid air had brought some energy back into both of your systems. when your eyes started to strain from watching the waves crash and get sucked back in, you turned yourself to properly face abby for the first time in what felt like a decade.
her attention was immediately stolen by you, her blue eyes traveling from the sky right to your face and staying there. the night was getting colder and your shivers more frequent, but her warm embrace provided just enough heat to let you fully smile at the moment. you gazed back at her for a moment before taking the initiative and leaning in to catch her warm lips with your own freezing ones.
she responded almost immediately, moving her mouth in sync with yours as you deeply sighed into the embrace. abby started to trail her hands down your shoulders before reaching your waist and gripping it harshly, her focus never leaving the soft plush of your lips against hers. the way your mouths locked together was hypnotizing, sweet sensations sending your heart into overdrive. the feverish kisses transitioned into smaller pecks, still full of vigor, as she carefully leaned you back against the railing. you gripped it with your hands to support yourself and welcome her sharp love with just as much energy. her leg soon found its way between your thighs to restore her balance, giving you the opportunity to lean to the side and soften the kiss. her hands continued to explore down your lower back and finally settled on the curve of your hips as a means of leverage.
abby kissed you with a sense of urgency, as though you could slip away from her grasp and disappear at any given moment. her blonde locks fell over your face and basically created a curtain for you two, away from the eyes of whoever might have been driving past the turnout.
in-between kisses you could hear her slightly panting, the drowsiness apparent by the way she was now barely pressing you against the wood. all fear of strangers seeing you suddenly vanished as you felt her body relax more into yours with every second that passed by. you moved the hair out of her face and finally got to see how red and puffy her sweet lips had gotten from all of the sudden action.
this, paired with the intense eye-contact as she leaned in and softly kissed you again, was all too much to bare. after a few moments, you took the unfortunate time to pull away and press your forehead to hers, head still moderately spinning from lack of airflow. abby's grip on you eased up as she caught her own breath, although the admiration in her eyes still prevalent.
she slowly lowered her head back down onto the side of your neck, and she couldn't help but deeply inhale to get as much of your scent as possible. your soft fingers traced light hearts on her back as you continued to hold her like you would fall if she were to let go.
abby opened her eyes and was met once again with the beautiful landscape she had originally stopped for, although she was contempt with what she'd ended up giving all her attention to. the moon had eventually hidden behind a cloud while you two were sharing a moment, and it was only then that you realized how dark it had gotten since you first pulled over. you lightly nudged abby as a sign to go back on the road, and she gave your hips another tight squeeze before eventually letting go.
her absence left space for the cold air to hit your skin once again. goosebumps found their way back on your sensitive arms, and after you took a couple of photographs, you intertwined your fingers with abby's and slowly led her back to your warm car.
