Writers rant

Let me rant about a few things that I have come to realize about writing.

I’ve been writing this novel on and off for about four years. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Now I’ve come to where I’m about to send it off to an editor. Really excited about it. This is a big project. I don’t know how I’ll feel afterward. There’s still more to be done after the editor.

It’s nerve-racking asking people to read it, for feedback. Nothing feels good enough to be read. But I can’t fix parts if I don’t know how other people see it. Does it sound too cheesy, or too awkward, or too problematic? I know what the scene is supposed to be, but will others see it like that?

I’ve loved and hated this story. Edit and re-edited it several times. I believe that in a way ‘hating’ shows that you are aware of the state of your creation. It made me want to make it better. I found out that I kind of like editing. Kind of like problem-solving. Figuring better placement and whatnot. Just not the grammar part. Those who do understand grammar are not human. 

The type of story isn’t one that I would get into myself per se. So that’s a little daunting, but there are themes that I wanted to talk about in it. I hope that my spite doesn't show too much in.

I’ve been keeping myself motivated by the thought of making my own cover art. I am quite picky about designs. Photos/ stock photos for novels have always been the worst designs in my own opinion. My one fear about traditional publishing was having a boring photo slapped onto the cover.

The one here is a work in progress. So far I love it. Just not sure about the name. I’m really bad at naming things.

I can say more but I’ll leave that in a different post.

I have not been able to post photos or drawings here from my computer! I keep getting an error. Text post is fine. This has been going on over a month. I have contacted help twice but nothing has changed.

couple of months ago I went to see my cousin dance in a ballet of Sleeping Beauty. They told me no photos or videos, so I sketched what happened instead.

I liked the background dancers the best cause they looked like they were having fun. I showed them what I did afterwords and they were flattered.

ps I learned that ballet has their own sign language???

“snufkin is the new onceler” literally nothing will be the new onceler. onceler fandom was on a level no one today can comprehend. “ohhh [new thing] is onceler all over again” shut up and learn the ancient history before spouting these foolish words

this drives me mad because snufkin isn’t even a new character. he’s from the 1950′s and has been popular for ages outside of america, especially in finland where moomins are their cultural icon. imagine if a foreign country somehow didn’t know about mickey mouse and started saying shit like “donald duck is the new onceler”
