She's uncomfy because people in the academy still treat her with prejudice for being a Zaunite. Ekko's with her, so she mostly hangs with him and Viktor, her fav professor.

Someone suggested that Powder's single braid splitting into two as Jinx represents her adopting her "jinx" persona after enduring trauma. I wanted to depict this in her design, showing her as less violent than canon Jinx but still struggling to suppress that side of her.

Hi hello yes i am a huge fan of your hextech house fanfic. In fact it inspired me to write my own arcane fanfic! Do you have any advice for a fledgling writer?

Hi hello yes! I think this was a perfect ask to come up with the part I am in life/writing fanfic!

As you know, it’s been, uh, a while since I updated the latest installment of hextech house. Most likely I’ll get back to posting it when the new season comes out and the spark is back but for now! I’ve been playing around with other drabbles and fandoms.

My best advice for fledgling writers though? Keep posting fics you want to read. It doesn’t matter if they’re bad or they’re not this Shakespearean masterpiece you had in your head. If you want to read them, then that’s all a story ever needs right? Someone that wants to tell it and someone that wants to read it.

Even if I’m currently taking a break from writing, I still go back and read my own work. I see my old mistakes and typos and I fix it up cause your work is yours to transform and create into something you love.

So go out and make those fics! Do what feels right and the more fics you make the better it gets!

I hope this helps out, and gives some of hexhouse’s readers a small update on where the fic is now. I haven’t forgotten it or abandoned it, but it’s in a stasis till I can get back to it again ^^’

here’s 5 things you can do to encourage them:

Reblog their fic link on tumblr (bonus if it’s with tags)

Bookmark the fic with a note about what you’re excited about/love in the fic

Recommend the fic to your friends or local discord channel

Draw art or create other media for the fic (as indicated by the author’s comfort level)

Leave them a comment when re-reading about the parts of the chapter/story that stood out to you the second time

For the record, this also applies to people who don't post WIPs. When I am deciding which of my various stories to work on, it's part vibes and part "What will make my Consistent Commenters happy?"

one time i left a silly comment on a two shot and it made the author laugh so hard they literally wrote a third chapter specifically for me because my comment made them laugh. comments are SO fucking important. even if you just comment a heart emoji it can literally be the difference between someone finishing a story or not. EXALT THE FIC WRITER!!!!

I'd like to add that if you rec a fic on a discord and people like it, please encourage them to let the writer know! It's so common for a channel to rave about the fic with each other but all the writer sees is some kudos, and it would be really nice if the writer got to see that enthusiasm too.

I got one thing to add; I always need to plug the use "Ensemble Cast" (or a similar fandom specific tag) instead of adding lots of individual minor characters.

what with all this talk of fanfic and ai and feeding other people's work without permission into ai programmes to 'finish' a fanfic or whatever... it's just showing how people see fic as 'content'? a fanfic as something mass-produced and official, something to consume at a distance and then talk about in a vacuum? something to use for your own purposes and something over which you have a claim?

fanfic is written by fans like you. written out of love and passion and a lot of effort and hard work, so that the author can share their enthusiasm for the characters and stories with other fans. like you. they aren't these untouchable, faceless people above you – they're your peers. gifsets, fanart, fanfic – they're all made by your peers. mutuals. friends.

if you want to know more about the fic, talk to the author! so many fic writers leave their socials in the end notes of their fics – talk to them! they're not going to be affronted or judgemental. chances are, they're going to be over the moon that you like their work and want to engage and discuss the characters and the themes etc. they made you happy with their fic, and you would be making them so happy in return! (and what does a happy writer do? write more!)

as a fic writer, I made one of my closest tumblr friends because she read my fic and left a really nice comment, and then we got talking and brainstorming loads of headcanons and fic ideas together! fic writers want to talk! if you enjoy someone's presence and contributions in a fandom, let them know!

and for the love of all that is good, don't feed someone's hard work into an ai programme!!! whether you post it (which is just horrible tbh) is beside the point – you're facilitating the plagiarism of their fic!
