A Shadow Falls/Chris, Miles, Jack, and Geoff
Geoff stole his phone back from Jack as they parked. “I’m used to driving while telepathically linked to five people. I could have handled texting.” The telepath said as he ran from his side of the car to the other to try and open the door for Jack like a gentleman but pouted when he was a bit too slow. “Let’s go in. I guess just follow me to Miles’ office.
One they got in he spotted Chris on the couch and Miles near by. The feeling of fear and sorrow rolling off the man on the couch made Geoff flinch. He inched around the room keeping a bit of distance from the source of the emotions and got closer to Miles. “What the ever loving fuck happened?”
Miles was doing the only thing he could do. Pace. Pace and stay focused. He already zoned out once again, but it wasn’t for very long since he was still in the office, if halfway to the door. This was his office, his turf, and that kept it quiet. Quieter anyway.
It didn’t want to protect the weak, it wanted to be away from the closed in space. It missed the woods, it missed the freedom, it--
Miles had no idea if he could hold on til the week ended, or how much longer. Rogues would attack their own family, which meant everyone was in danger.
His ears picked up the sound of a door opening, hopefully Geoff and apparently a suspicious Jack, if that was still true.
It was the duo, Geoff immediately keeping a wide berth around Chris. That wasn’t a good sign if Geoff’s face was something to go by (and it always was).
“I got a call from the hospital, they said he was just wandering around, not lucid. Some kind of dream or illusion? He freaked out when he first saw me, but he didn’t ‘really’ see me, if that makes sense? The ghost didn’t help either. I’m hoping it’s mental and maybe you can figure out what he’s seeing or even better, break him free of it.”
Miles sighed, running his hand down his face. “I’m barely holding it together as is. My wolf’s trying to take control, and I don’t know how long I can fight it. If it wins... just stay out of it’s way. It’ll fight anything, regardless of who.”
I don’t know if it means I’ll be able to come back after the week is over or not.
miles & chris are gonna be on this week’s on the spot! [x]

[Text: Steak Daddy] im still there so sure. ryan’s here as well, dunno about burnie
[Text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Who’s Ryan?.. And Burnie?
[Text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Oh right- Hi! I’m Jack!
[Text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Geoff’s driving so I refuse to let him text.
[Text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Is this Chris guy okay?
[Text Delayed: Steak Daddy] ...
[Text: Steak Daddy] Oh god i was worried. hi jack. i'm a coworker of geoff. ryan and burnie and i work with geoff at rooster teeth
[Text: Steak Daddy] Chris needs geoff, who can hopefully help him. guess i'll be seeing you shortly. tell geoff we're in my office.
A Shadow Falls/Chris and Miles
Chris sighed as he looked about the darkness of the cave he was in. Alone, in the dark, without even the maggot infested zombie wolf. Yet he was still bound. Chris tried to move around the cave and inch to along the floor of the cave like a caterpillar. Once he found what he assumed to be the wall he continued along it trying to find some way out of the dark cave. The sounds of him trying to move about echoed around the cave.
Miles wasn’t sure what to do with Chris. If he wasn’t afraid of losing his mind, he’d just carry Chris around until the week was over. And if another ghost latched on, well Burnie was up and running again. Somewhere.
If it was a mental illusion, there was one guy skilled with the brain: Geoff. And with Jack recovered, one less thing to worry about. (He wasn’t sure how he could handle a Jack that didn’t know him, but it was even worse for Geoff).
He found Chris outside the office, who managed to inchworm his way around. Okay, now Miles was a douche. And felt bad. He ripped off the restraints before lifting Chris off the ground, piggy back style. Better than over the shoulder and less creepy to anyone watching. With his free hand he sent a text.
[Text: Steak Daddy] where r u. want to see if you can help chris
[Text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?]: I’m at home…sure I’ll give it a shot meet at the office?

[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Iunno our place? I was at the bar and then the last thing I remember is being in Joel’s car and I woke up in our bed. With a few hours worth of missed texts.
[Text: Steak Daddy] i’ll swing by after i get chris settled. together it’ll be a breeze.
[Text: Steak Daddy] you know him better than anyone. where would you look first?
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Christ…drop him off at my old place I haven’t sold it yet and I’m pretty sure Gavin is living with Gus so if it gets destroyed I’d get the insurance on it anyways.
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Also before you black out I might need a blood hound Jack has gone missing and being cryptic as fuck.
[Text: Steak Daddy] better than nothing. i don’t think there’s anyway to break him free of it? haven’t tried tbh but if jack still doesn’t remember by now...
[Text: Steak Daddy] first he punched you and now he’s gone. alright. where was he last so you can slap some sense into him
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] …………………………………………………………………
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] God fucking damn it Miles.
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] Why was he walking into traffic? And I don’t know lock him in your house or something.
[Text: Steak Daddy] you wanna handle the angry ghost that killed 3 people and threw a car? next time, it’s all yours
[Text: Steak Daddy] he’s in some alt world or something??? he’s not aware of anything.
[Text: Steak Daddy] if i blackout again i dunno what’ll happen
[text: WhoLetTheDogsOut?] I got really really drunk with Joel last night. Also Jack is asking me if I have a place to stay. I think he feels really bad for giving me a black eye.Which wasn’t even really his fault…I think? Also care to explain a bit more? What spirit tried to kill you and why?
[Text: Steak Daddy] ...did i expect anything less of my drinking buddy. no
[Text: Steak Daddy] jack punched you? he’s in there somewhere then.
[Text: Steak Daddy] chris summoned a pissed off spirit. it killed 3 people and tried to do the same to me after i kidnapped chris from the hospital. burnie killed it since chris is still mia.
[Text: Steak Daddy] i’m not sure what to do with chris, he already walked into traffic once.
[Text: Steak Daddy] Burnie’s alive. Ryan’s healed him but he’s pretty zonked after killing the spirit that tried to kill me.
[Text: Steak Daddy] on that note i’m never going to that hospital again
[Text: Steak Daddy] how’s team ah fairing
A Shadow Falls/Chris and Miles
“Huh?” Ryan was affronted. And confused. Confused was a thing, now. Especially seeing as Ryan did not quite know what he feared. If the Reaper had made fear a reality, of course he didn’t know any different. “I’m not that deranged, Luna.” Ryan couldn’t help but scowl. “I know my own mind.”
There were so many other things he could’ve said then. It was probably not a good idea to try and make the werewolf upset with him. Not that that was his plan, but Ryan wasn’t very good with these sorts of things. It was probably best to change the subject.
“But, uh…” Ryan shuffled towards Burnie some more, momentarily gritting his teeth in mental preparation. “Nasty ghost, huh?” He poked at Burnie a little. The man didn’t do anything bad, so Ryan hesitantly continued, grabbing at Burnie and letting his power, the feeling of nausea and self-loathing flow through his body. “How do you get a nasty ghost? How do you get so many things wrong in a day?” Ryan fought a deep urge to retch, his grip on Burnie tightening, knuckles white.
Ryan’s life, he had to say, was as great as it’d ever been so far. People weren’t glaring at, ignoring, or hating him, and it was a pleasant change from the usual. What was his fear, having people be nice to him?
“Anyone else got any booboos then?” Ryan asked through gritted teeth, feeling a chill sweep through him as he finished healing Burnie’s wounds. Slowly, Ryan released his grip, arm trembling slightly with the effort. Maybe his fear was having to do his work, use his power. After all, Miles seemed to think that Ryan healed him a lot. That kinda made sense.
“Something’s up. I haven’t been ‘Luna’ in months. And you would have healed Burnie by now. You heal as easily as I eat meat.” Ryan looked like he was in pain healing Burnie, like he was afraid. Ryan wasn’t afraid of anything. That wasn’t normal.
Miles sighed. Big surprise. “Been that kinda week Ryan. Geoff’s seeing snakes, Jack doesn’t remember anyone at the office, Michael is convinced he’s gonna be fired at any second. It’s a fucking mess. Geoff’s the only one holding himself together as far as I know.” And their fearless leader was crashed out on the couch. Thank god Geoff was functional.
His wolf was snarling from within, pacing back and forth as it yearned to be free. Ignoring it wasn’t the answer, shifting wasn’t the answer, he didn’t know what to do. Was it the Reaper’s work or was he actually going rogue? Would it all revert after the week was over or was he screwed? Was he stuck in some elaborate hallucination where he was just continuing to make mistakes? Or was it some string theory bullshit? Oh god this was worse than trying to decipher Ryan’s tweets.
“No. I gotta go take care of Chris. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to stay me, but someone has to keep Chris from hurting himself. Or if he summons something else.” God, how did one do that?
Miles was probably going to have to say this a lot this week. “Ryan, if you think you’re hated, or just here cause of your powers, or just here because Burnie’s afraid of you, or because Joel had some vision, or you just randomly showed up here and no one kicked you out, whatever you think, it’s not true. You showed up, Burnie hired you, and you’re still here. I’m not sure what your fear is, but no one here hates you. Or wants to kill you. Or fire you. Or whatever, I don’t know, I’m just trying everything. Go see what Geoff’s up to, Burnie will be fine.”
Hopefully, the only moment he was away wasn’t too long for Chris to get into anymore trouble.
A Shadow Falls/Chris, Miles, and Ryan
“Miles, hey,” said Ryan, standing after seeing the werewolf enter. “Uh…” One look at Burnie, and Ryan knew what he was needed for. He looked back to Miles, expecting the revolted resignation that came when people asked for his help, the freak of nature that he was.
Nothing. Miles’ face was set with determination, but the loathing Ryan had expected was simply not there. Sure. Michael was acting weird, Pat was acting weirder, it shouldn’t have come as a surprise that they didn’t hate him as much as they… did? As he though they did? Everyone he’d encountered so far seemed to be living in their own fucked up world. Maybe the whole thing was in Ryan’s head.
No, no. He wasn’t going to go there. That would only pull his mind further into the pit of crazy that seemed to be starting to exist. “I suppose you want my help, then?” Ryan asked stupidly.
He reached out towards Burnie, flinching back at a slight stirring in the other man’s posture. If he’d gotten everything all wrong, if this was some sort of company-wide joke to get Ryan to fuck off, Ryan was going to look ridiculous. Was that his fear? Being the fool? No, he didn’t think so. He wouldn’t be pissing about in front of a microphone every day otherwise. Still, now wasn’t the time. Taking a deep breath, he stepped forwards until he was close enough to Burnie to just do his fucking job. “What the fuck happened to you two?”
“Dude, this is like the 3rd time I’ve come to you in a week. The day a week goes by without me needing to get patched up will be a fucking miracle. And we will celebrate at a bar with coke and diet coke, cause I managed to stay out of trouble. For once.”
Miles carefully put Burnie on the free couch, and he watched, as Ryan was hesitant. Ryan was many things. He was random. He was quick witted. He flubbed words. He was the PC guy of AH. Sometimes he was a killer. But he wasn’t hesitant. Not when healing someone. Not in general.
“Chris summoned a nasty ghost but he’s stuck in some dream world so I had to find Burnie to deal with it. Burnie’s been on the floor since he fought Adam so after banishing the spirit and the fight with Adam he’s pretty fucking burnt out.”
This did nothing to comfort him. Ryan inched forward. Like he was expecting some bomb to drop.
He was starting to repeat himself now. “Ryan. The Reaper’s messing with everyone, just like last week. He’s screwing with our heads, making our fears come true. So whatever crazy thing you see, or feel, it’s not real. You’re in the office, you’re a healer, you’re the guy I bury bodies with. So whatever you think, it’s probably not true.”
A Shadow Falls/Chris, Miles, Burnie, and Ryan
Holy shit.
“What the fuck, you guys?!” Burnie shouted, working his way off the ground with support of his furniture. He was weak, really fucking weak, and he was going to need every ounce of strength he could muster if he wanted to get rid of this hell hound. The first time he tried to summon Astral to come and help him, nothing happened. With a curse, Burnie shook his hands, trying to clear his thoughts and calm down. If this thing was as big as it sounded, Burnie was going to have to almost go into a meditative state to bring it down, and with the way Miles was shouting and at the speed this creature was moving, it was going to take a lot of work to get his heart rate down.
Fuck, fuck fuck fuck. Alright, breathe, fucking breathe…
As the spirit broke into the room, it’s two heads searching, Burnie found his spot. Time seemed to slow down as he dragged his hands through the air, a deep blue glow forming around them. This blue-gray glow creeped down the walls, filling the office – spirits from the Astral Plane, summoned to banish this beast. Burnie closed his eyes as he raised his hands over his head, pushing the spirits to wrap around the confused creature. Linking his fingers together, Burnie took in a deep breath, careful as to not hit Miles or Chris as the Astral tightened around the hellish spirit.
Then suddenly, time sped up. With a shout, Burnie’s eyes flew open, completely cast over with the blue-gray energy from the Astral Plane. He could feel his soul splitting in between the two realms as he brought his hands down, falling and slamming them against the floor. He was still screaming as his linked hands hit the ground, and a flash of blue blinded the room.
When it dissipated, the beast was gone along with the Astral Burnie had summoned, and Burnie was pressed against the floor, panting and barely conscious. A cold sweat covered his body, and his eyes slowly faded from fully blue gray to their regular look. Looking up at Miles, Burnie groaned, slowly pressing a hand to his temple.
“I could use that advil now.”
Miles couldn’t blame Burnie for being pissed. Wouldn’t anyone be pissed if a deranged spirit was dragged in by one of your employees? Especially if you had to deal with it after being unconscious? Where no one bothered to check in and see if you hadn’t kicked the bucket?
Yeah.
He wasn’t sure how to describe the blue light that filled the office. It didn’t behave like light. It looked like light. It didn’t feel like light, but that might have been his own senses telling him otherwise. At Burnie’s hand movements, it wrapped around the spirit like a boa constrictor. The spirit actually looked concerned, now that Omni was on the job.
And then Burnie was yelling, and falling as the light utterly destroyed the spirit.
Then it was blinding.
It took a long time for his vision to come back enough for him to see anything. Sensitive eyes were a blessing and a curse.
Burnie was on the ground, eyes changing colors (wicked cool) which wasn’t an improvement over his previous day.
“That was the coolest fucking thing I have ever seen. Dude, I’ll get your Advil, I can smell Ryan’s somewhere in the building, I’ll do anything since you got the damn thing taken care of.” He dragged Burnie off the ground, and set off towards Ryan. He’d have to come back and get Chris, but both of them could use the healing.
A Shadow Falls/Chris, Miles, and Burnie
Chris panicked when the headless man threw him on the ground before binding him once more. Struggling against the binds Chris would have tried to call for help once more if the zombie wolf hadn’t stared him down and growled at him. It was a short time later that the man picked him up once more taking him closer to what looked like a glowing man. Chris wasn’t sure what was going on but he was placed on the ground again. This time though the wolf sat on his chest ensuring that he didn’t move.
The spirit let out a roar as the man took the medium into a building. Going ethereal the spirit lost it’s own persuers as it entered the building. The lack of light not effecting it as it reformed it’s body once more. Dropping to all fours the spirit let it’s body take on a bit of a more agile form. Sure it could easily track them down while ethereal but it wasn’t like he’d be able to kill the interloper like that before he tried to escape again. He knew this form would be weaker, but it was much faster. It’s legs braced them selves as it got ready to break into a sprint. It’s arms and body leaner as it prepared sprint after it’s prey much like the wolf in the interloper would. It’s head made a loud crack as it split in two before the halves reformed to make two separate heads for it to search the rooms for. Breaking out into a sprint the spirit bellowed once more for it’s meal ticket. “I WILL DEVOUR YOU WOLF AND THEN EAT YOUR PACK.”
Well that was a absolutely, terrifying threat. As if he didn’t have enough to deal with, he personally offended the killer spirit. They were talking seconds as most before it showed up. “It’s here, so if you could get off you ass and do whatever the hell you do to get rid of it...Chris is stuck in some memory or something and powering the spirit. It’s been a weird day.” Not including the fact his wolf was ready to take off again and he really didn’t want to black out again. “As soon as that thing is dead again, we’ll go see Ryan and get that advil, and meet up with Geoff since he’s the only one still with it.”
His wolf growled, picking up the spirit nearby. It charged, moving towards Chris. “Any time Burnie!”
A Shadow Falls (part 3)/Chris, Miles, and Burnie
The fight had destroyed Burnie. Even though Burnie was powerful, Adam’s rage overtook his Astral, and one terrible shock after another cascaded through Burnie’s thick frame, pushing him closer and closer to the brink of death. One bolt of electricity in particular had sent Burnie’s consciousness over the edge, and he topped to the floor, unconscious and almost lifeless. Blood oozed from the cuts on his black, shards of glass from his table still wedged in them.
He had been there, lying unconscious on the ground, for almost a day until Gus found him. Whatever Gus had tried to do didn’t help Burnie, because when Miles found him, he was still out on the ground.
In some weird chain of events that Burnie had no idea about, Miles and Chris had ended up in his office, and a cool burst of water had awoken the leader of Rooster Teeth. HIs eyes fluttered open, barely responding to the world, but at least he was conscious. A groan left him, and Burnie blinked a few times before making eye contact with Miles. “Wha…”
“Oh thank god.” Movies saved his ass again. “Short story short: Reaper’s making everyone experience their fears, I just kidnapped Chris from the hospital, and there’s an angry spirit following us who’s already killed like 3 people. Please tell me you can deal with it.” He extended a hand.
“No one knew if you were alive until now. Geoff’s the most together of all of us, he’s got most of AH with him, and most of us have lost their memory. That’s all I know. So I’m really glad you’re still with us.” He was talking way faster than normal but the spirit was nasty and as soon as that was dealt with the better.
A Shadow Falls (part 3)/Chris & Miles
The spirit took off after the man and it’s power source. If he got too far away he would lose his ability to interact directly with the living world. Sure he could lift up objects and throw them about but he couldn’t kill. He couldn’t take a life and feast on the soul that would be torn from the body as it bled to death.
Unfortunately it did seem to attract a lot of attention. People screaming as they fled to their cars in the parking lot and driving off. One polieman on the side walk even had the nerve to try and shoot him. It wasn’t like the wolf man would get very far without him being able to follow. So maybe he should take care of the flies trying to bite him before going onto the main course?
Lumbering forward the spirit grabbed a car in one of it’s clawed hands and threw it at the policeman. It narrowly missed it’s target but it did slam into another human’s car as they tried to flee him. Turning back to the task at hand the spirit noticed that the wolf man had managed to over more distance then he had hoped during his brief distraction. Not that it mattered he’d just have to catch up. It wasn’t like he was in much of a rush right now. The idiot who summoned him was in no condition to send him away and he didn’t see Omni or Shadow about to fight him so he was good draining energy from the brunette for now. Even if he lost his form he’d be able to track him down and feed off his life energy.
There had to be someone else who could handle this. Banish the spirit or whatever. Burnie could, right? Iif he was even still alive. Someone had to check on the outcome of the fight, and at least the office would be useful again if the two had cleared out.
There was a scream behind him and screeching metal. Yup, keeping this spirit in public wasn’t working.
At least he finally figured out Plan B.
He didn’t feel bad about throwing Chris into the backseat of his truck, nor duct tapping his wrists and ankles together (always carry that shit in your car). Chris was not wandering off again.
The drive was quick and slack on the rules, with just enough time to wonder. Burnie couldn’t be dead, right? Adam wasn’t a killer, even with the Reaper’s influence.
The door to the office was open, which was good cause he couldn’t have opened it with Chris over his shoulder. It was pitch black, not that it mattered to him, but there was no sign of anyone moving around. Burnie was in the office though, alive hopefully. Using his nose, he tracked Burnie down to his office, unconscious but hopefully ready to deal with the nasty spirit following them.
He put Chris down, glad the guy wasn’t coherent enough to realize what was going on cause he’d be fucking pissed.
How do you wake unconscious people up? Water, right?
He only had a few minutes before the spirit found them again, and he’d like for it not to try and take a bite out of him or Burnie.
So he ran to the kitchen, filled up a glass, and ran back and poured it on Burnie’s face, hoping it was enough.
