I was at the BMO centre in Calgary yesterday (April 12) and lost my silver sand dollar necklace pendant (pictured front and back below). It fell off the chain and I was unable to find it, I've talked to lost and found but I think it might have been picked up by someone.
If someone has found it please respond to this or dm me and hopefully we'll work out a way for me to get it back. It seems like such a small thing but it is a really important object to me so there is a (small) reward for it's return.
This is a long shot and I know it but it was a gift from my girlfriend so I really hope I can get it back.
Okay T1D Dennis moves in with Jack and Robby except it makes Jack horrifically disturbed because his wife was diabetic and had a close call on more than one occasion with DIB and now Jack is right back there. He's staring at Dennis all night, he's opening the bedside to see his glucagon, touching it, closing the drawer, looking at Dennis, and opening the drawer again.
Jack doesn't sleep with everyone else, he only sleeps when he knows someone else has eyes on Dennis. He checks how much insulin he has, he calls the pharmacy on the day they can fill it, he checks his back up pumps, he spends his own money to buy a few extra CGMs, he puts meters around the house, he's got blood ketone testers, he's got urine test strips tucked in both bathrooms in the house, he checks the expiration dates on everything, he rotates, he worries.
He worries so much because what if Dennis ends up like his wife? At the end when she was in so much pain, when she hurt, when she couldn't reverse what had happened. He worries so much, he panics, and then-
Dennis always calms him, says it's different, that he's been sick since he was six, that he knows what he's doing, that he's only ever known the life, he didn't get diagnosed at thirty like she did. He knew when his sugar was low, he knew when he was high, he knew all the signs.
But Dennis still sat still and let Jack check his feet, check his sugar, poke his finger and check. He had patience with Jack, like always. Because he knew Jack wasn't second guessing him.
Robby doesn't know what to do but he get's a sugar pixel so Jack can open his eyes and see Dennis's sugar form hsi side of the bed.
Here they are in all their glory, the robot and the ship in human form
Yes I am making Armando the tired exasperated team medic and Mary their cheerful sassy getaway driver, I hear you and I love it
Notes:
Armando studied and trained in anaesthesiology before switching to general practice; he’s trained in first aid and some advanced medical treatments thanks to that
Mary studies exoplanets and monitors some star systems (brightness, position, etc); maybe or maybe not at NASA, I haven’t decided
Armando is the older brother, he’s the same age as Simon (younger than Grace); I might do some age references later
Armando always either has tinted glasses or sunglasses to protect his sensitive eyes; he also always has a bottle of sunscreen on hand
Mary is a prolific dancer; she started with ballet, learned the salsa, had a phase of breakdancing, and now does contemporary
Mary is only a good driver when it suits her; know the rules so you know how to break them, as one would say
okay but there HAD to have been some nerds on Stratt’s Vat who believed with all their hearts that Tau Ceti was resistant to Astrophage specifically because of intelligent aliens living there who’d Fixed The Problem, right??
to some extent, maybe even Yao and Ilyukhina and DuBois and the backup crew had that possibility floating around in the backs of their minds. did they spend their off-hours indulging in sci-fi that featured First Contact situations, just in case? when Stratt went on her epic pirating spree, did she take care to ensure that the swiped software included user-friendly, good-quality language programs that could hypothetically help three non-linguists communicate with speakers of a non-Earth-based language?
(which would make it extra funny, if those programs were on the Hail Mary but Grace just… didn’t find them right away, if he even thought to look for them at all. so he MacGyvered a ‘translator’ together using the tech he was already familiar with. and then much later, like 2 months before the Hail Mary reached Erid, when Grace had already suffered through YEARS of an Eridian-as-a-second-language crash-course created on the fly by an engineer with no particular background in teaching a language… Grace finally stumbles upon a “Translating a totally-unknown language from scratch for dummies :)” guidebook buried in the ship’s computer, and he has to take a moment to go bang his head on a lab table for fifteen minutes.)
and when the beetles made it back to Earth, if the relevant footage/data was actually shared far enough to reach Project Hail Mary’s supporters of the “Tau Ceti wasn’t dimming because the resident Tau Cetians fixed it” theory (as opposed to knowledge of intelligent alien life being ultra-mega-classified and locked down HARD)…
well. I imagine that at least ONE fight broke out while trying to settle the outcomes of decades-old betting pools. because yes, there WAS in fact one (1) intelligent alien lifeform hanging out at Tau Ceti! but no, it wasn’t technically a Tau Ceti alien, per se. but yes, Earth’s solution to the Petrova Problem *was* ultimately brought to them by alien science + one Viewer Like You™ working together! but no, the *original* reason Tau Ceti wasn’t dimming was NOT a direct result of intelligent aliens having already intervened. but yes, Tau Ceti was protected from the Astrophage by the direct efforts of native alien lifeforms (the Taumoebae)! but no, the aliens combating the Astrophage weren’t intelligent aliens. and so on and so forth.
Me realizing that the Project Hail Mary had a bunch of nitrogen to breed nitrogen resistant Taumeba is because nitrogen asphyxiation was how Dubois chose to kill himself
Another thing I appreciate about The Pitt is that instead of having one completely socially flawed person (aside from Monica ofc)- it shows a lot of generally progressive people who have certain biases here and there that they still need to unlearn
This is so much more realistic than characters being completely on one side of the line or the other. Just because someone labels themselves as progressive doesn’t mean they magically unlearn all the bigotry of our society. And just because someone still hasn’t unlearned a bias doesn’t mean they’re a hateful bigot who can’t be redeemed.

i have something else unpopular to say about bloodymary [guy standing on soap box image]
In terms of aggression, Grace is significantly more prone to it than Simon. (Well, at least when it comes to the length of their fuses before they blow—AKA how much they will take before flying off the handle)
In Iron Lung we do see Simon angry a lot, but honestly when it comes to his situation he’s still, like, disturbingly calm about it (this is bc he’s accepted the punishment, but I will elaborate on how he’s still weird). He flies off the handle a few times, but they’re all with good reason.
The first time (I can recall) that he really loses it is when he blasts everyone with radiation, but he does this as a last resort after nobody pays attention to his concerns about there being a monster with him in the blood ocean—Actually he does this as his last last resort, since he actually fucks with every button in the sub before walking over to the camera. And immediately after being told what the camera actually is he completely shrinks up, just mumbling “..i didn’t.. i didn’t know…” and he obviously feels really bad about it because once Jack comes back to talk to him (after being treated for the radiation) he awkwardly apologizes in the middle of their conversation.
He also yells at Ava when she comes back on the speaker, but that’s after an extremely vivid hallucination where he spoke to another “survivor” for god knows how long before realizing this entire person was fake. But, like, he’s yelling out of fear there—desperation, even—because now he’s scared that she’s not real either.
The only other time (I can recall) that he really flies off the handle is when his sub is being, like, actively attacked by Ellie, and I’d argue that’s not even “flying off the handle” considering how reasonable of a reaction it is to try and fight off a giant monster that’s not only chasing your ship but also telepathically harassing you.
Now, Grace? Ryland Grace? The guy whose life is average as all hell? Called another scientist “a staggering waste of carbon” for simply debating his “all life doesn’t need water to evolve” theory.
When it comes to Rocky? Grace literally rants to a camera about him just invading his personal space, that’s it. When Rocky moves in Grace is so bewildered and frustrated with the process of setting up his xenonite walls, and at that point in time the two of them were pretty much already friends.
I think the reason why everyone leans towards Simon being the more aggressive one is because his anger is taken seriously by the narrative, while Grace’s is played for laughs.
But let me just say, Simon is not aggressive, that’s not his first response—He’s afraid, but then he’s brave, we see this with the hallucinations he gets of himself (where he’s frozen with fear until he realizes he has to fight this thing off if he wants to be safe). He’s been almost completely stripped of his “flight” option, so that’s what’s forcing him to “fight”. (he still does run like hell as much as he can, though, as seen when he taunts Ellie and then slaps a binder on the control lever to speed away backwards) To me, most of his aggression honestly reflects an animal caught in a trap; He wouldn’t be acting like this if he could just run away.
Grace on the other hand? His first reaction is “fight”. No, he’s not beating the shit out of people, but that doesn’t mean he’s not fighting. He’s always fighting, and once “fight” doesn’t work, he’s absolutely on board with “flight” (as seen once he’s literally backed into a corner during his final conversation with Stratt), but that’s never his first reaction.
When they’re going to send him to space? He’s arguing like hell first, then he’s running. When he wakes up on the Hail Mary? Fights Armando, then runs away. When Rocky throws that xenonite map at the Hail Mary? Grace’s first thought is to say “shields up” like he’s on a sci-fi fighter ship, which implies he was fully ready to start blasting Rocky’s ship with lasers if that was the case; And even when being told there are no shields, his next instinct is not to fly the ship away, it’s to freeze in his seat as he sits and waits for what he assumed may be a missile to hit his ship.
In conclusion, Simon would not beat the shit out of Grace once they meet, he would instead run like hell. If Simon did, however, ever end up purposely hitting Grace, Grace would either hit back or yell at him.
Grace takes no shit, Simon takes all shit that won’t get him killed (and he might even take some of that, too). Thank you for coming to another one of my Bloodymary talks, i’ve been your host who cannot stand mischaracterization and will never apologize for it.

Let's not beat around the bush: Children's author JK Rowling sexually harassed someone. In some jurisdictions, this would count as sexual abuse. JK Rowling has committed a sex crime against a woman and fell back on the old rape apologist standby of "she was asking for it".
