this event was made to celebrate all types of WoLs (and other ffxiv ocs), and bring attention to all the care everyone puts into their characters! it can be awfully hard to find who to follow these days, so why not have a fight to the death and see who the masses of tumblr crown champion?

sorry that this was so long in coming! i got absolutely flattened by some health issues for a few days, but i can't go any longer without wishing a very sincere thank you to everyone who has enjoyed learning about beef and who supported her on her journey throughout the tournament!

i'm gonna be honest, i don't really know what to say here--i didn't expect to win. i never suspected i'd even get to the finals, and then once i did, i expected chuchu to kick my butt. i even voted for them too! so the fact that i'm sitting here making a post about being crowned champion of the inaugural @woltourney is a bit difficult to wrap my head around.

everyone's wols were so great and so obviously a reflection of their creators' love, and i truly loved meeting each and every one of them! i also hope to continue to learn about them even after the tournament if y'all will allow me to. it was really so much fun, i'd love to do this again some time!

again i'm mostly just overwhelmed that this many of you loved my girl so much that you ignored me asking you not to vote for me in the finals lmao... i guess that means that in a way, she doesn't belong to me anymore. she belongs to all of you. she's in all of your hearts, giving you terrible advice, and i think that's beautiful.

i'd like to give a special shoutout to @spaceace144 for a well-fought final round and who is a co-winner with me in my heart, to all the other roegadyn wols out there--both those in the tournament and outside of it--for the loving warrior's bond we all share, to the friends we've all made over the course of the tourney, and for the tournament organizer(s?) who i know must have worked really hard behind the scenes so that we could all have such a silly fun time like this!

thank you all again for caring about my horrible woman who means so much to me and has helped me out on a personal level more than i'd probably care to admit. and i look forward to meeting the next round of wols whenever this tournament may happen again! until then, please keep beef in your hearts and may you all continue to have many wonderful adventures with your own wols!

A big thank you to @woltourney for holding the tourney! It was amazing to be able to see all of everyone's amazing characters and learn about them! I've even made some friends along the way :^) I also wanna say that I'm proud of Chuchu for making it to the finals! What a well loved little pink creature! I might start actually posting on @chuchuchura after seeing the support for her and how other WoL based blogs actually run and what they do content wise.

...i'd love to do a second tourney in the future, but my laptop is currently, er, broken. it needs to be sent in for repairs (as long as warranty covers it). i won't be able to do another tourney immediately in the future, as i won't have the tools for photo editing or posting massive things on tumblr.

BUT! if people are interested, please let me know!!! i'd love to be able to showcase a whole new array of ffxiv ocs in the future! i won't be changing the name, but i'll clarify to be more clear- you don't need to be a wol to be in the tourney.

we wouldn't accept WoLs/OCs already submitted in the previous tourney, but people would be welcome to submit their alternative WoLs. the goal of this tourney was always to showcase as many WoLs as possible! that's not possible if we have everyone sending in the same WoLs again!

i did, yes!!! i will say that my favourite ended up out in the very first round, so clearly they weren't everyone else's favourite. but i'll gladly still share!!!

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped Chuchu get this far!!! And thank you for all the words of encouragement in the notes of the poll! It makes me really happy to see you all cheering them on! :^) Of course, thank you to @woltourney for holding this wonderful event! I've been introduced to so many amazing WoLs that I wouldn't have known about otherwise and have made a few more mutuals as well.

Finally, good luck to @isayoldbean! Beef is such a wonderful character and has certainly earned this final round spot!

Chuchu has been my first real OC that I've kept along with ever, and I've been really thinking about them a lot during this event. So please, enjoy Chuchu's First Lore:

(Forgive me if it's not great I have literally never done this before. Feel free to send me questions about them as well!)

Their mom is a farmer and dad is a librarian/scholar. They met when momma went in to the library to maybe learn some basic farming magic and met papa. Chuchu is 100% a country bumpkin who grew up helping on the farm (despite a major lack of a green thumb. Cannot keep house plants alive). They're the oldest of 4, so it goes Chuchu -> twin girls -> youngest boy. They always loved fishing on the lake on the farm, was maybe a little too good at fishing (fish love me, women fear me).

All the kids are some sort of combo of a pink and white naturally, but one of the twins is a goth and wants to dye it and has totally tried dying it with natural stuff around the farm (it was patchy and washed out pretty easily)

Chuchu set off on their adventure to try and help out the family monetarily. They're not really hurting money wise, but Chuchu wants to help provide so their siblings don't have to just grow up on the farm, ya know? They're really not good at farming and grew up pretty just naturally sheltered being in a not populated area, so they wanted to try and see the world! (Cue MSQ rolling up in Ul'dah)

They were like REALLY overwhelmed with everything at first but as the shit show that is MSQ unfolds, they've kinda had to get used to it lol.

Chuchu's just a happy go lucky little creature that always tries to see the good in things, no matter how bad it gets.

i seriously doubt this will happen, especially since i am also hoping my opponent wins, but hypothetically speaking--if we should tie, what happens? do we fight to the death? reign as co-champions? some other third thing?

you'll be crowned co-champions! if you somehow manage to tie together, we'll gladly honour that. you'll simply have to share the crown! (or we make a second crown!)
