One thing the four of us definitely agree on is that a lot of things happened this year that were unexpected; and they were all good things. We expect to come across the occasional shitty promoter, arrogant hype bands, angry reviewer every now and then, so it always floors us when the opposite happens. The opposite happened a lot this year.
As usual, thanks to Dan Read for all the incredible shows he's managed to slot us on..and thanks to the talented and friendly bands we've had the chance to play with this year: Gallows, Feed The Rhino, Brotherhood of the Lake, Bet It All, Tuusk, Sexwolf!, Darkshaft, The Catharsis, The Orchard, Hildamay, Max Raptor, The Bluebottle Veins, Levi James, Hopes, Ocean City (RIP), Obelisks, Blackwater, Zebedy, Goldwaite...there's more probably.
Thanks to We Are The Sound for helping us make a footage/promo vid for Dead Weight.
We also had radio play this year from BBC Radio Wales, Kerrang and Q, and maybe more we weren't aware of (if you did play us, please let us know!) Huge thanks to Adam Walton, Pete Bailey and Johnny Doom for their support and for helping us push Cycles out there.
Thank you also to all the reviewers; the overwhelmingly positive response floored us. In a way it assured us that making Cycles was the best thing for the band; we knew it was the record we wanted to make, but we weren't sure whether people would "get it" - it was amazing to see that they did.
Whoever threw Cycles up on mediafire/torrents etc deserves a thanks too; if we give something away for free, we encourage you to share it any way you want. It means a lot to us.
Most of all, thanks to anyone who calls themselves a fan. To us, you're not, you're just great people. And we mean that. There's loads of people who've made us feel good about what we do this year.
Finally, not only has 2012 been the best time for our band so far, it's been the best time for to develop as musicians too - Ad branched out to do some acoustic stuff, and I joined our brothers in Black Years, as well as having the chance to play in Silver/Back/Club. It's been great to see people who are into this band checking out what else we're up to, and it's really cool to say that with Black Years, it feels like one big family. Aww.
It probably doesn't need to be said; we'll be releasing new music in 2013.
