I really hope season three of DDBA leans more into dialogue and gives our main characters more screen time. What made season three of the original Netflix series so compelling was Matt’s moral struggle with his faith, along with Karen’s fully developed storyline. Those emotional and character-driven arcs are what grounded the show, and not just the conflict with the antagonists.
Right now, it feels like we’re missing those quieter moments where scenes can just breathe. I’m holding off full judgment until the final two episodes air, but honestly, I’m a tad disappointed with how Matt and Karen’s relationship has been handled this season so far. I was really hoping for at least a flashback about how they finally got back together or more meaningful dialogue exploring their relationship together. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love that they are finally together, but I am missing some of those quieter moments between them from the previous series.
I get that eight episodes can make things feel rushed, but that makes it even more important to prioritize the main characters. That’s why I’m surprised we haven’t seen more, especially knowing how Charlie and Deborah approach their roles. They’ve both openly spoken about how much thought they put into their characters’ backstories and relationships, which makes the lack of on-screen development here feel like a bit of a missed opportunity.
So far, this season has leaned heavily into a good guys vs. bad guys dynamic, which is very enjoyable, but I also want to see more of what’s going on internally with these characters. Their emotional journeys are what make the story resonate.
Here’s hoping season three strikes that balance, because Charlie and Deborah’s chemistry is more than capable of carrying standout scenes, when the writing actually gives them the space to do it.

It's so stupidly obvious, yet no one talks about it, but DDBA Season 1 both STARTS and ENDS on a exact same premise: with Matt and Karen at Josie's talking about Foggy.

A series of gifs from Daredevil shows scenes where Karen Page talks about Matt Murdock when he is not present.
In Daredevil Season 1, Karen sits in the apartment of Elena Cardenas, a client of Nelson and Murdock. As part of their conversation, Mrs. Cardenas says, "Yes, yes, with the handsome lawyer" in Spanish. Karen smiles widely and looks down before answering, "Yeah, um, Matt." (Mrs. Cardenas is actually talking about Foggy Nelson.)
In Season 2, Karen sits in a diner with a very bruised Frank Castle, who is wearing a black baseball cap. Talking about Matt, Frank asks: "You love him, right?" Karen says, "You can't know that." Frank says, "I'm sorry, can't know what?" Karen repeats: "You ... can't" in stunned way. Frank says, "Come on. We're in court, all that shit going on, it's all over your face."
In The Defenders, Karen speaks to Foggy Nelson while standing in a church. "...It's not over, 'cause they're still digging, right? So—" Foggy interrupts, saying, "Karen, it's been days." But Karen continues, "Maybe-maybe-maybe he made it out. Maybe."
In Season 3, Karen stands in Mitchell Ellison's kitchen, wearing a black shirt and red skirt (note: those are Daredevil colors). They are talking about Ellison's attempt to set Karen up with his nephew, Jason. "Look, I'm not, um... I'm not ready," Karen says.
Later in Season 3, Karen stands in Ellison's hospital room after Benjamin Poindexter attacked the Bulletin's offices wearing a Daredevil suit. Ellison tells Karen that if she knows who Daredevil is, "you've gotta tell me right now." Karen looks conflicted and stutters, "I can't."
I feel like if Karen ever gets mad at Matt she just refuses to let him touch her. That man would be an apologetic, needy mess in hours and that’s how she wins most of their arguments when he is being an idiot.
