Zu fällen einen schönen Baum braucht’s eine halbe Stunde kaum. Zu wachsen, bis man ihn bewundert, braucht er, bedenk es, ein Jahrhundert.
To fell a beautiful tree It takes merely half an hour. To grow until you admire it, It takes, mind that, a century.
Eugen Roth (1895 – 1976), German writer and poet

Das Nauener Tor is 1 of the 3 preserved gates of Potsdam in Brandenburg, Eastern Germany. It was built in 1755. The 3 gates are connected by a promenade and the Nauener Tor is located in close proximity to the Dutch Quarter. Its users were the military and merchants, craftsmen and administrations. Today the square in front has a high density of cafes, restaurants, and bars and is a popular meeting point for locals. Tram tracks lead directly through the gate.
